Are tattoos allowed?

Are tattoos allowed?

24:30 Say to the believing men to lower their gaze and they should guard their chastity / modesty. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what they do. 24:31 And say to the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity / modesty, and not display their adornment except what is apparent of it. And let them draw their head covers over their bosoms, and not display their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husbands’ fathers, or their sons, or their husbands’ sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or that which their right hands possess, or the attendants having no physical desire among men, or children who are not aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah altogether O believers, so that you may succeed.

31:18 And do not turn your cheek from men and do not walk in the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like every self-conceited boaster.

28:60 And whatever things you have been given (is) an enjoyment of the life of the world and its adornment. And what (is) with Allah (is) better and more lasting. So (will) you not use intellect?

2:195 And spend in the way of Allah and let not your own hands throw yourselves into destruction. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the good-doers.

(The process involves damaging the skin. According to the article “tattoo medical issues” in Wikipedia, “a variety of medical issues can result from tattooing. Because it requires breaking the skin barrier, tattooing may carry health risks, including infection and allergic reactions”)(Some Christians tattoo themselves, while it is forbidden in the Bible. Leviticus 19:28 says, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord”)(Allah knows best)
