How many books are there in the Bible?

How many books are there in the Bible?

2:113 The Jews say, "The Christians have nothing upon." And the Christians say, "The Jews have nothing upon," although they both recite the Book (l-kitaba). Thus say those who do not know similar statements. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection in which they were differing.

(“Bible” is from the koine Greek word “Biblia” (plural) meaning “the books”, but the Qur’an refers to it as “The Book”. The word “The Book” in Arabic is a generic noun, so it may contain “books”. Similarly, the Qur’an says “The Garden” (Paradise) which contains “gardens”; or the Qur’an says “Heaven”, which contains “heavens”. See the links below “How many gardens are there in Paradise?” and “Width of garden; 1 heaven or plural heavens?”)(In conclusion, the Qur’an doesn’t specify the number of books, but “Book” mentioned in the Qur’an doesn’t imply only one book. On the other hand, it is a fact that those books are one Book now)(Another interpretation is that “Book” might refer to a “previous” Book, called the mother of the Book (13:39). It is interpreted that the Qur’an is from that Book. Verse 18:27 says, “recite what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord. None can change His Words”. Even the Bible, in Revelation 5:1-7, mentions a scroll sealed at the Throne which no one can open or look inside, except some. Similarly, the Qur’an says, “Indeed, it is surely a Noble Qur’an. In a Book well-guarded, None touch it except the purified” (56:77-79). So, it is interpreted that that “Book” is previous to the Bible too, and the Bible might contain “of/from” that Book” too)(Allah knows best)

3:3 He revealed to you the Book (l-kitaba) in truth which confirms that which was before it and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.

(“Book” in Verse 3:3 might refer to the Qur’an, which confirms that which was before it. Then the Verse uses the word “wa” (and) which does not indicate chronology, so the sentence “and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel” is also “that which was before” the Qur’an)(The sentence “although they both recite the Book”, in Verse 2:113, might refer to common Scriptures or concepts among the Jews and Christians, or might refer to that which is from the mother of the Book, contained in both the Torah and the Gospel)(Another point is that both Christians and Jews recite the Torah and Psalms. Despite only Messianic or Christian Jews believe in the Gospel. But both, Jews and Christians believe in the Old Testament, so there is at least one common source. Nevertheless, the Christian Gospel talks about the matters contained in the Old Testament)(The Qur’an confirms previous revelations (10:37), but, for example, the Qur’an doesn’t confirm Paul’s works included in the New Testament. That’s because the Qur’an confirms that which God revealed in it, not that which God did not reveal. So, the Qur’an does not confirm that which Jews and Christians added to the book, because that’s not the book, but what they wrongly invented. See the article below “Jesus vs. Paul”)(Allah knows best)

2:79 So woe to those who write the book with their hands, then they say, "This is from Allah," to exchange it for a little price. So woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.

13:39 Allah eliminates and confirms what He wills, and with Him is the Mother of the Book.

(Depending on the context, “Book” might refer to the Mother of the Book (56:77-79, 13:39), which is also the common source (revealed / made by God) of all Scriptures)(Allah knows best)

56:77 Indeed, it is surely a Noble Qur’an, 56:78 In a Book well-guarded, 56:79 None touch it except the purified. 56:80 A Revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

4:163 Indeed, We have revealed to you as We revealed to Noah and the Prophets after him, and We revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and Jesus, and Job, and Jonah, and Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Scripture.

(It is interpreted that the Scripture given to David are the Psalms; which are included in the Old Testament)(Allah knows best)
