Is prostitution allowed in Islam? Is slave prostitution allowed? Is “Mutah” (temporary marriage) allowed?

24:33 And let those who do not find marriage be chaste/refrain until Allah enriches them of His Bounty. And those who seek (yabtaghuna) the writing from among whom your right hands possess, give them the writing if you know any good in them, and give them from the wealth of Allah, which He has given you. And do not compel your slave girls to prostitution (l-bighai), if they desire (aradna) chastity, to seek temporary gain of the life of the world. And whoever compels them, then indeed, Allah is, after their compulsion, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(Verse 24:33 says, “do not compel your slave girls to prostitution (l-bighai), if they desire chastity”; the sentence does not imply that prostitution is allowed if women desire it, but the root of “bighai” / “tabtaghu” / “yabtaghu” (prostitution / seek) is “Ba-Ghayn-Ya”, and it means “sought for or after, desired, endeavored to find and take and get (good or evil), unchaste, loving or affecting a thing, etc.”. So, according to the context of the Verse, you cannot compel them in regard to seeking / desiring a husband, if they want to remain chaste. This interpretation is confirmed within the same Verse: there is another sentence which uses the same root word than “prostitution (l-bighai)”: “those who seek (Ba-Ghayn-Ya) the writing from among whom your right hands possess”, so the context is about marrying. In conclusion, the mention of “prostitution” in Verse 24:33 is understood as compelling them to seeking / desiring a husband, while they don’t desire it or they want to remain chaste)(“Fornication”, “adultery“ or “prostitution” (understood as “act of offering sexual services for a fee”) are forbidden in Islam anyhow. it is forbidden even if she willingly wants to do it, because it is fornication / adultery. So, sexual relations is always in the context of marrying willingly in the Qur’an)(In Islam, prostitution is forbidden, on the other hand, non-Muslims allow it, while it is known that most prostitutes are forced into sex work. In some western countries, it is estimated that 80% of them do it against their will. So, most prostitutes are in fact sex slaves)(The root of “arad” (desire) is “Ra-Waw-Dal”, and it means “to seek, search, desire, etc.”)(Allah knows best)

25:68 And those who do not invoke with Allah another god, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right, and do not commit adultery/fornication. And whoever does that will meet a penalty.

4:25 And whoever among you is not able to marry free chaste believing women, then from those whom your right hands possess of believing girls. And Allah knows all about your faith. You are of one another. So marry them with the permission of their family and give them their bridal due in a fair manner. Chaste, not committing immorality and not taking secret lovers. Then if after marriage they commit adultery, then their punishment is half of that which is for free chaste women. That is for whoever among you who fears committing sin, and to be patient is better for you. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(In Verse 4:25, “so marry them” refers to those whom right hands possess, this is confirmed by this sentence: “then if after marriage they commit adultery, then their punishment is half of that which is for free chaste women” (4:25). So, in this sentence, “free chaste women” is distinguished or in contrast to “they / their” (= those whom your right hands possess), mentioned in the the previous sentence: “from those whom your right hands possess” (4:25)). So, whether she is “slave” or free, the Verse tells about marrying, in order to have relations)(Slave prostitution is not allowed. 65:1 O Prophet, when you divorce women, then divorce them for their waiting period, and keep count of the waiting period, and fear Allah, your Lord. Do not expel them from their houses, and nor should they leave unless they commit a clear immorality. And these are the limits of Allah. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allah, then certainly he has wronged himself. You know not; perhaps Allah will bring about, after that, a matter. 65:2 Then when they have reached their term, then retain them with kindness or part with them with kindness. And take as witnesses two just men among you and establish the testimony for Allah. That is instructed to whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day. And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out,

(When you divorce, there is a waiting period, so the temporary marriages in order to commit prostitution are forbidden and not possible in Islam. So, you cannot marry every hour, day or week)(An exception to the waiting period is in the case that you have not touched them (33:49), but men still have the obligation of giving half of what you have specified, unless women forgo it (2:237))(Allah knows best)

2:225 Allah will not take you to task for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He takes you to task for what your hearts earned. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing. 2:226 For those who swear (off) from their wives is a waiting of four months, then if they return - then indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 2:227 And if they resolve on divorce - then indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 2:228 And the divorced women shall wait concerning themselves for three monthly periods. And it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah (has) created in their wombs, if they believe in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands (have) better right to take them back in that (period), if they wish for reconciliation. And for them is the like of that which is over them in a reasonable manner, and for the men is a degree over them. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

40:63 Thus were deluded those who were rejecting the Signs of Allah.

(Those who use the concept “temporary marriage” as a cover, they delude themselves. It has to be called by its name “prostitution”, not “marriage”, if the purpose were so)(The obligation of having the permission of the family to get married is another barrier against prostitution (4:25). Another barrier is that you have to know about her, ”give them the writing if you know any good in them” (24:33))(Another point is that in some practices, they do not even consider it divorce after the agreed time period (mutah) is over. If it is not considered divorce, then it cannot be considered that they were marriage either, so they committed fornication / adultery)(Allah knows best)
