Did Solomon punish a hoopoe for a small error?

Did Solomon punish a hoopoe for a small error?

27:20 And he inspected the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe, or is he among the absent? 27:21 I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or I will surely slaughter him unless he brings me a clear reason." 27:22 So he did not stay long, and he said, "I have encompassed that which you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Saba with certain news. 27:23 Indeed, I found a woman ruling them, and she has been given everything, and she has a great throne.

(Some non-Muslims say that the hoopoe was to be punished for a “small error”. According to Verse 34:12, jinn worked for Solomon because God commanded it. Considering that the hoopoe had to follow the command as well, disobeying God is not an “small error”)(Allah knows best)

34:12 And to Solomon, the wind - its morning course was that of a month and its afternoon course was that of a month, and We caused to flow a spring of molten copper for him. And among the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord. And whoever deviated among them from Our Command, We will make him taste the punishment of the Blaze.

27:17 And were gathered for Solomon his hosts of jinn and men and birds, and they were set in rows.

20:117 Then We said, "O Adam, indeed, this is an enemy to you and to your wife. So (let) him not drive you both from Paradise so that you would suffer. ... 20:121 Then they both ate of it, so their shame became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred.

(Disobedience can have major consequences)(Allah knows best)

4:140 And surely He has revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the Verses of Allah being rejected and ridiculed, then do not sit with them until they engage in a conversation other than that. Indeed, you then, (would be) like them. Indeed, Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together.

(The Jews and Christians who may make this objection about the Qur’an are also hypocrites, because the Bible says in Deuteronomy 21:18-21, “If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.”)(On the other hand, the Qur’an does not say that men or children are to be put to death by Muslims because of disobedience)(Allah knows best)
