Is masturbation allowed?
23:5 And those who are guardians (hafizuna) of their modesty (lifurujihim) 23:6 Except from (‘ala) their spouses (azwajihim) or what (ma) their rights possess / own, then indeed, they are not blameworthy. 23:7 Then whoever seeks (ib’tagha) beyond that, then those are the transgressors.
(The word “furuji” implies the space between the legs, that is, the private parts between the legs. This Verse is rightly interpreted to be against masturbation. Some people object that you cannot guard your parts from yourself, as if masturbation were allowed. The Verse is in a context of sexuality (24:30-31), because women are mentioned, so it is interpreted that other contexts (non-sexual) might be allowed-for example: taking a shower and washing your parts, or a doctor looking at your parts, or a maid helping elderly or disabled people change their clothes or help them shower, etc.) (It is interpreted that these Verses prohibit everything in regard to your private parts (in a sexual sense, e.g., discharge), except with your spouses or what you rightfully possess; therefore, masturbation with anyone or anything other than your wife would be forbidden. Some other people wrongly interpret the Verse to only prohibit skin-to-skin contact with anyone other than your spouses or what you rightfully possess because the context of the Verse is about relations between people. However, this Verse does not explicitly or implicitly say that only skin-to-skin relations are forbidden; in addition, you might have a sinful mind and eyes if you masturbate with anyone other than your spouses or what you rightfully possess. Verse 24:30 says, “say to the believing men to lower their gaze” in a sexual sense (interpreted as being in the same context as Verse 23:5).) (In regard to using “ma” in the sentence “what (ma) they rightfully possess,” which is a word often used for “objects,” “ma” can actually be used for “people” if they are under your ownership. According to the context, what they rightfully possess in the Qur’an are real people, rather than objects like videos, photos, or sex dolls (which are implicitly forbidden because they are other than your wives or what you rightfully possess). What they rightfully possess are described as entities who can marry other people (4:25), ask permission (24:58), make contracts (24:33), etc.) (The root of “hafizuna” (guardians) is “Ha-Fa-Za,” and it means “to preserve / guard / protect a thing, take care of a thing, prevent a thing from perishing, to be careful / mindful / regardful / attentive / considerate concerning a thing, to keep a thing, put in store, retain a thing, learn a thing by heart (commit to memory), to remember, to defend, keep a thing from getting lost, to be observant or watchful, apply oneself / assiduously / constantly / perseveringly, vigilant or heedful, to anger a person or be angered.”) (Y-M-N means “right hand or right side”. MLK means ownership or authority over something. One concrete meaning is the fruit when it becomes strong and held together. So, holding things together in a strong bond and with authority over it. The action of owning or having authority happened by the subject) (Another dictionary says that the root Miim-Lam-Kaf means “to rule/command/reign, be capable, to control, power/authority, king, kingdom) (Allah knows best)
(Some wrongly argue that the word ‘from’ in Verse 23:6 implies ‘external people’ rather than excluding oneself, suggesting that masturbation is permitted by this Verse. However, the Arabic preposition used is ’ala, meaning ‘on,’, ‘upon,’ or ‘over,’ rather than “from.” Even so, some still interpret that even translating ‘ala as ‘over’ or ‘upon,’ oneself is inherently excluded from this restriction, wrongly suggesting the Verse does not address or prohibit masturbation. They even state that a thought or fantasy lacks this physical, interpersonal behavior with women, which is the context of the Verse (the target of the exception being external). In contrast, linguistically, Verse 23:5 establishes a general rule, and Verse 23:6 tells you the exception to that rule. The prohibition view states: a ban is placed on all sexual pleasure unless it happens with a wife (what they rightfully possess is regarded as a “wife” too, according to the Qur’an). Masturbation yields sexual pleasure outside of a marriage, so it would be forbidden. Strictly speaking, if it is not on the “allowed list,” it is out. Thus, mankind would be blamed if he masturbates, because Verse 23:7 says, “Then whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors.”) (The permissibility view (wrong view) states that you cannot ‘guard’ something from itself. It argues that the ban is on interpersonal sexual violations. Because masturbation is solitary, they claim the Verse does not even sub-categorize it. Considering the context, they argue a solitary act cannot conceptually be adultery or a violation of a marital boundary (This view is not considering that you could commit adultery in your mind and eyes, and that there might be a total prohibition in Verse 23:5, including all sub-categories, which is supported by other Verses).) (Even if the permissibility view might seemingly make sense to some, the one who masturbates (seeking beyond what the Verse strictly says) stands to lose much more if it was actually forbidden than the one who did not masturbate (seeking obedience) if it were actually allowed.) (Allah knows best)
24:30 Say to the believing men to lower (yaghuddu) their gaze and they should guard their chastity/modesty (furujahum). That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what they do. 24:31 And say to the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity/modesty, and not display their adornment except what is apparent of it. And let them draw their head covers over their bosoms, and not display their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husbands’ fathers, or their sons, or their husbands’ sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or that which their rights possess, or the attendants having no physical desire among men, or children who are not aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah altogether O believers, so that you may succeed. 24:32 And marry (wa-ankihu) the single among you and the righteous among your male slaves (‘ibadikum), and your female slaves (wa-imaikum). If they are poor (fuqaraa), Allah will enrich them (yugh’nihimu) from His Bounty (fadlihi). And Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing. 24:33 And (wa) let those who do not find marriage (nikahan) be chaste/refrain (walyasta’fifi) until Allah enriches them (yugh’niyahumu) of His Bounty (fadlihi). And (wa) those who seek (yabtaghuna) the writing from among whom you rightfully possess, give them the writing if you know any good in them, and give them from the wealth of Allah, which He has given you. And do not compel your slave girls (fatayatikum) to prostitution (l-bighai), if they desire chastity (tahassunan), to seek temporary gain of the life of the world. And whoever compels them, then indeed, Allah is, after their compulsion, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
(The mention of “spouses (fellow / like)”, “what they rightfully possess,” and “private parts” clearly implies sexuality. In a sexual sense, you must guard your private parts from everyone except your spouses or what you rightfully possess. This implies that in a sexual context, everything else would be entirely prohibited.) (The phrase “what they rightfully possess” might suggest to some that a man can use his private parts with women other than his wives, or it might literally suggest that one can masturbate using images and videos in their possession. In reality, “spouses/fellow/like (azwaji)” and “what they rightfully possess” represent two distinct categories of (believing) women who are lawful for marriage. The word “azwaji” (spouses) is interpreted as a “kind/type” or “category” of women (those of your own kind/social peer group), whereas “what you rightfully possess” refers to women who are not of your immediate kind (as seen in 16:71). Since azwaji implies “category” (the ones you marry from your own group/category), “what they rightfully possess” implies that you can also marry women from this other category. The Verse implies that those from your own category become your wives through marriage (according to the meaning of the word), and those from the other category also become your wives through marriage, in accordance with other Verses in the Qur’an that command marrying what you rightfully possess.) (Verses 16:71-72 confirm that one of the differences between “spouses” (those of your own kind) and “what you rightfully possess” relates to financial provision. Those of your own kind are favored in provision, while those you rightfully possess are not equal to them in this specific matter. However, regarding sexual relations, you still must marry those you rightfully possess to avoid committing adultery or fornication, because the Qur’an only ever speaks of marrying them (4:24-25, 24:33) rather than allowing fornication or adultery. Note that the context of Verse 24:30 is that “they should guard their chastity/modesty (furujahum)” (like in Verse 23:5), and then Verse 24:32 says, “And marry (wa-ankihu) the single among you and the righteous among your male slaves, and your female slaves…”.) (Verse 4:24 confirms that once those you rightfully possess are married, they are considered “wives” too. However, they keep their distinct category label (“what you rightfully possess”) because different legal rules continue to apply to them even after marriage.) (Even if the word azwaji is strictly interpreted as “spouses” (husband / wife), it still does not imply that anyone else is allowed for sexual relations. The Verses of the Qur’an are not mutually exclusive; they complement one another. Therefore, according to other Verses, sexual interaction with what you rightfully possess always requires marrying them.) (Furthermore, it is linguistically correct in Arabic to state a specific part after a general whole for emphasis. For example, Verse 55:68 states: “In both of them (are) fruits and date-palms and pomegranates.” Date-palms and pomegranates are mentioned specifically to emphasize these two kinds of fruits, not to suggest they are not fruits. Another example is Verse 97:4 (“Angels and the Spirit”) and Verse 2:98 (“His Angels and His Messengers and Gabriel and Michael”), even though the Qur’an confirms elsewhere that the Spirit is Gabriel (2:97) and a Messenger (19:17-19, 4:171), and some Verses suggest that the Spirit is an Angel. As noted in the article “The Holy Spirit in the Quran” by M. Nader, “In the Arabic language it is not unusual to specify part of a whole group to emphasize the significance of that part.”) (It is objected that these examples use the word “and,” whereas Verse 23:6 uses “or.” However, the use of “or” can be explained by Verse 4:3. It is a matter of priority: first orphans, then (free) women (women of your kind), and then one or what you rightfully possess if you fear you cannot be just among orphans and women of your own kind. This Verse does not imply you can be unjust with what you rightfully possess; rather, you marry them to maintain justice if you prefer them over others, serving as a lawful alternative to marrying one, two, three, or four (free) women.) (In other words, you might choose to only marry women of your own kind, or you might choose to only marry from what you rightfully possess. Therefore, one “or” the other option is lawful, but strictly within the framework of marriage.) (Allah knows best)
(Additionally, Verses 24:30-31 command “lowering the gaze” in a sexual sense because in daily life you might naturally look at men or women in non-sexual contexts. After marriage, you can only look at your spouses/fellow/like or what you rightfully possess (the other marriage category) in a sexual way. Consequently, you cannot masturbate using photos or videos of women who are not your wives, whether they belong to your own category or the category of what you rightfully possess, or even the category of artificial entities like cartoons, sex dolls, and AI-generated women.) (Furthermore, Verse 24:32 tells you about marrying slaves (male or female). Verse 24:33 states, “let those who do not find marriage be chaste/refrain.” Contextually, you must refrain from marriage if you cannot find marriage (24:33), but according to the context, you must also guard your private parts and lower your gaze (24:30-31). When you “find” pictures and videos of women, you are not finding a marriage; you are finding fornication / adultery.) (Additionally, some Verses only mention “spouses” when discussing children and offspring (such as 25:74). You only have children with spouses, which includes those you married from what you rightfully possess, because once you marry them, you are husband and wife. Therefore, you only use your private parts with/on your spouses-with “spouses” here meaning anyone you are legally married to, regardless of their category.) (Note: A single word can have multiple meanings, but you must select the specific meaning that fits the context of the Verse and aligns with the rest of the Qur’an.) (Notice that Verse 24:31 states women cannot display their adornment except to their husbands or that which they rightfully possess, as if that which they rightfully possess were other than husbands. However, the context of the Verse includes their fathers, their brothers, and other non-marriable people who can view their adornment, rather than suggesting adultery or fornication among them.) (Another point is that prostitution (24:33) is forbidden in Islam. The word bighai, often translated as prostitution, contextually refers to “women who do not want to marry, so you cannot force them into marriage.” That is called/interpreted as prostitution by some, while the context and the meaning of the Arabic word just implies “forcing women into marriage,” because the phrase “those who seek the writing” in 24:33 uses the verb “seek”, which shares a root with the word interpreted by some as prostitution. Therefore, what is called “prostitution” in fact refers to the fact that you cannot compel them to seek a husband against their will.) (Fornication, adultery, forcing women, and prostitution-understood as the act of offering sexual services for a fee-are completely forbidden in Islam. it remains forbidden even if a woman participates willingly, because it is still fornication or adultery. Thus, sexual relations in the Qur’an are always strictly confined to willing, legal marriage.) (For further reading, see the article on my blog: “Is it allowed in Islam to have relations with maids/slaves without marrying? Is adultery permitted? Are sex slaves allowed in Islam?”) (The root of furuji (modesty) is Fa-Ra-Jiim. It means to open, separate, cleave, split, enlarge, part, let a space between, make a room, an opening, intervening space (gap or breach) between two things; farjun (pl. furuj) – pudenda (sex organ); chastity, space between legs (of horse or mare), part/s of a person (male/female) indecent to expose, external portions of the organs of generation (of a male/female). Also the posterior pudendum because it is a place of opening, of between the legs.”) (The root of azwaji (spouses) is Zay-Waw-Jiim. It means to couple, join, pair, unite, wed, marriage, a pair, a fellow or like, spouse”. Another dictionary says that “Z-W-J” means when two or more things or people form a unit. This unit is the unit of marriage or anything that unites them as being very close as to be rarely separate or sharing a common feature.) (The root Gh-Dad-Dad means lowered, contracted, lessened, or “restrain.”) (The root of ib’tagha and bighai (seeks / prostitution) is Ba-Ghayn-Ya. It means “sought for or after, desired, endeavored to find and take and get (good or evil); loving or affecting a thing; seeking or endeavoring to act corruptingly, wrongly and/or unjustly, insolent/disobedient; exceeding due bounds or just limits in any way; prostitute or adulteress, unchaste, seeking what one should not seek, etc.”) (The root of ankihu / nikahan (marry / marriage) is Nun-Kaf-Ha. It means to tie, make a knot, contract, to marry, marriage. According to hussein’s “personalquran,” the root N-K-Ha (marry) means “having sex between a man and a woman through the right channels or in a legal manner. That is why it is the word that is used for marriage since marriage involves sex in the right way.”) (The root of yasta’fifi (be chaste / refrain) is Ayn-Fa-Fa. It means “to abstain from what is unlawful, be abstinent, refrain; ta’affuf – modest / abstinence”) (The root of tahassunan (chastity) is Ha-Sad-Nun. It means “to be guarded, be inaccessible / unapproachable, be chaste, be strongly fortified, difficult to access, be preserved, be protected, abstain from what is not lawful nor decorous, to fortify oneself, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
17:82 And We reveal from the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.
(Some people and/or communities think that masturbation, having sex slaves, and prostitution are okay, while some people and/or communities are against them. People are tested in what God has given (5:48), so the Qur’an is written in a way that might guide the doers of good or deviate the wrongdoers (3:86). There is only one way. A certain matter cannot be right and wrong at the same time, but some people are guided, and some other people deviate. Verse 39:18 says, “Those who listen to the Word, then follow the best thereof, those are they whom Allah has guided, and those are men of understanding.” The Qur’an explicitly speaks about marrying slaves, prohibits adultery/fornication, tells you about lowering the gaze, protecting private parts, not “desiring/wishing” (12:23-25, 12:30), etc., so if you follow anything other than these, you are not following “the best thereof.” In addition, even if masturbation were allowed, but you do not masturbate, you refrain while seeking the pleasure of Allah; thus, you could be rewarded for observing a restriction that was not explicitly prescribed (57:27) (though the context of Verse 57:27 might not refer to masturbation). On the contrary, if masturbation were not allowed and were punishable, then those who masturbate would be the losers.) (Allah knows best)
2:187 It is permitted (uhilla) for you in the nights of fasting to approach (l-rafathu) to your wives (nisaikum). They are your garments and you are their garments. Allah Knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He turned towards you and He forgave you. So now have relations with them (bashiruhunna) and (wa) seek what Allah has ordained for you. And eat and drink until the white thread becomes distinct to you from the black thread of dawn. Then complete the fast till the night. And do not have relations (tubashiruhunna) with them while you are secluded in the masajid. These are the limits (set by) Allah, so do not approach them (taqrabuha). Thus Allah makes clear His verses for the people, so that they may become righteous.
(Verse 2:187 speaks about seeking “what Allah has ordained for you,” and that which is ordained in this Verse is approaching “your women” and “having relations with them.” The word “relations” in Arabic implies skin contact.) (The root Ba-Shin-Ra (meaning physical skin-to-skin contact) proves that the Verse frames lawful sexual release around real, physical human connection) (In addition, Verse 2:187 says, “Seek what Allah has ordained for you.” Masturbation is not explicitly or implicitly “ordained” in the Qur’an; however, it is interpreted that it is permissible with your women (that is, the actual spouses with whom you live) (2:223).) (The root of “tubashiru” (relations) is “Ba-Shiin-Ra,” and it means “skin / pare / strip / skin contact / epidermis, etc.”) (The root of “rafathu” (approach) is “Ra-Fa-Tha,” and it means “sexual conduct, sex, lie with for sexual relationship, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
2:223 Your wives (nisaukum) (are) a tilth (harthun) for you, so come (to) your tilth (harthakum) when/how/where (anna) you wish, and send forth for yourselves. And be conscious (of) Allah and know that you (will) meet Him. And give glad tidings (to) the believers.
(Verse 2:223 orders coming to your women. It is also interpreted that there are no objections to masturbate with your wive.) (The root of “harthun” (a tilth) is “Ha-Ra-Thaa,” and it means “to till and sow, cultivate, seek sustenance, work or labour, plough, to examine / look into / scrutinize / investigate, call a thing to mind; harth – gain, acquisition, reward (gain), recompense (gain), seed-produce, what is grown / raised by means of seed / date-stones / planting. A wife or road that is much trodden, etc.”) (“anna” (when / how / where) in Arabic is also understood as “however,” “in whatever manner,” or “from whichever direction.”)(Allah knows best)
3:7 He is the One Who revealed to you the Book, in it are Verses which are absolutely clear - they are the foundation of the Book, and others are allegorical. Then as for those in whose hearts is perversity - [so] they follow what is allegorical of it, seeking discord and seeking its interpretation. And none except Allah knows its interpretation. And those who are firm in knowledge, they say, "We believe in it. All is from our Lord." And not will take heed except men of understanding. 3:8 "Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.
(According to Verse 3:7, one must follow that which is clear.) (While some argue that masturbation is not explicitly mentioned by name as a sin, there is a purpose to “forbid” it without mentioning it by name.) (For example, you are ordered to guard your private parts except from your wives and those you rightfully possess, and you are can prohibit “impure things” (7:157), etc.) (Allah knows best)
3:135 And those when they did immorality (fahishatan) or wronged themselves - they remember Allah then ask forgiveness for their sins - and who can forgive the sins except Allah? And they do not persist in what they did while they know.
(The root of “fahishatan” (immorality) is “Fa-Ha-Shin,” and it means “became excessive / immoderate / enormous / exorbitant / overmuch / beyond measure, foul / bad / evil / unseemly / indecency / abominable, lewd / gross / obscene, committing excess which is forbidden, transgress the bounds / limits, avaricious, adultery / fornication.”) (Allah knows best)
4:24 And those women who are married except whom you rightfully possess. The decree of Allah upon you. And (wa) lawful to you are beyond these, that you seek them with your wealth desiring chastity (muh’sinina), not lust (musafihina). So (for) what you benefit/ed of it from them, so give them their bridal due (ujurahunna) as an obligation. And there is no sin on you concerning what you mutually agree to, beyond the obligation. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. 4:25 And (wa) whoever among you is not able to marry (yankiha) free chaste believing women, then from those whom (ma) your rights possess of believing girls. And Allah knows all about your faith. You are of one another. So marry them (fa-inkihuhunna) with the permission of their family and give them their bridal due (ujurahunna) in a fair manner. Chaste (muh’sanatin), not committing immorality (musafihatin) and not taking secret lovers (akhdanin). Then (fa) if when they are married (uh’sinna), then if they commit adultery (bifahishatin), then their punishment is half of that which is for free chaste women (l-muh’sanati). That is for whoever among you who fears committing sin, and to be patient is better for you. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
(The distinction in Verse 23:6 between “spouses or what their rights possess,” using the word “or” as if what they rightfully possess were other than wives, is not supported by other Verses, in which you are required to marry what you rightfully possess. If the Qur’an had only used the word “wives” in that Verse, what they rightfully possess would lose their legal origins; however, Verse 4:25 confirms both: you have to marry them, and they still are what your right possess after marriage because, even after marriage, their legal punishment differs from the punishment of free women. Therefore, the “or” is not a choice between “marriage vs. no marriage,” but a choice between “those-who-were-free wives vs. those-who-are-under-your-possession wives.”) (So, interpreting Verses 4:23, 4:24, and 4:25 as a whole: a woman who is already married is forbidden to other men; as for a woman displaced from her previous life, if she became a believer and was among the Muslims, her marriage to a disbeliever is legally dissolved. The exception in 4:24 is not saying “you can have sex with her without marriage.” it is instead interpreted to mean she is not prohibited for marriage because her previous marriage (to a non-believer) is void. Immediately after saying they are not prohibited (4:24), the very next Verse (4:25) gives instructions on how to engage with them: “So marry them with the permission of their people and give them their due compensation (dowry)…”) (The classical interpretation separated 4:24 from 4:25, while the Qur’an, as a whole, is clear in this matter.) (Forbidden to you (4:23) are those women who are married, except those whom you rightfully possess, because if those women are believers and married to a disbeliever, then their marriage is nullified in Islam (60:10).) (That which you rightfully possess is mentioned in the context of marriage rather than for masturbation, taking secret lovers (4:25), or committing adultery or fornication. And you seek them desiring chastity/guarding, not lust/spilling (4:24). Seeking and desiring them for masturbation (without being married) is not supported in this Verse. Notice that “lust” (4:24) is also interpreted as spilling (Outside a legal union).) (Another point is that Verse 4:25 says (as do Verse 3:195) that the believers are “of one another,” while disbelievers are not for you in any sense (e.g., their pictures and videos are not for you either).) (The root of “musafihina / musafihatin” (lust / those who commit immorality) is “Siin-Fa-Ha,” and it means “shed/flow, outpoured/spilled, masafihun – one who commits fornication or adultery, take unlawfully (women); saffaha – to work without profit”) (The root of “muh’sinina / “uh’si / muh’sanati”” (desiring chastity / are married / chaste women) is “Ha-Sad-Nun”, and it means “to be guarded, be inaccessible / unapproachable, be chaste, be strongly fortified, difficult to access, be preserved, be protected, abstain from what is not lawful nor decorous, to fortify oneself, etc.”) (The root of “akhdanin” (secret lovers) is “Kh-Dal-Nun,” and it means “to befriend, keep company, associate in secrecy or privacy, to converse / talk with.”) (Allah knows best)
4:27 And Allah wishes to accept repentance from you, but those who follow the passions (l-shahawati) wish that you deviate (into) a great deviation.
(In addition to Verses 4:24-25, Verse 4:27 implies that following one’s passions/lust is a deviation.) (The root of “shahawati” (passions) is “Shiin-ha-Ya / Shiin-ha-Waw,” and it means “to long or desire eagerly, made it to be good / sweet / pleasant or the like, loved it or wished for it, desired eagerly / intensely, yearning of the soul for a thing; appetite, lust, gratification of venereal lust, etc.”) (The root “Shiin-ha-Waw” in Verse 7:81 is used in the context of homosexuality.) (Allah knows best)
4:31 If you avoid great (sins), which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your evil deeds and We will admit you to a noble entrance. 4:32 And do not covet (tatamannaw) for that by which Allah has bestowed (faddala) [with it] some of you over others. For men is a share of what they earned (ik’tasabu), and for women is a share of what they earned (ik’tasabna). And ask Allah of His Bounty (fadlihi). Indeed, Allah is All-Knower of everything.
(Verse 4:31 says, “Avoid great (sins), which you are forbidden.” Some people object that masturbation is not explicitly forbidden in the Qur’an. The sentence might suggest that only explicitly forbidden actions are considered “great” sin-as if it allowed masturbation. In fact, anything other than lowering the gaze and guarding one’s private parts (between the legs) is explicitly forbidden (24:30).) (The next Verse (4:32) says, “Do not covet.” The word “covet” implies a “wish or desire” in Arabic. “Tamanni” (covet) represents indulging in unfulfilled, greedy fantasies-which is exactly what happens when a person feeds their mind with illicit imagery or out-of-reach sexual desires.) (While coveting is traditionally interpreted in a financial, social, or spiritual context-often referring to jealousy between genders-the core meaning of the word still applies perfectly to masturbation.) (The root of “tatamanna” (covet) is “Miim-Nun-Ya,” and it means “to try or to prove someone, to mediate, to wish or desire.”) (The root of “fadli” (Bounty) is “Fa-Dad-Lam,” and it means “excel, distinguish, surpass, superior, gain/gift, bestow benefit / bounty / favour / grace”. According to Hussein’s “personal Quran,” “F-D-L” means “to have more as opposed to to having less.”) (Allah knows best)
4:82 Then do they not ponder on the Qur’an? If it had been from other than Allah, surely they would have found much contradiction in it. 4:83 And when there comes to them a matter about security or fear, they spread it. But if they had referred it to the Messenger and to those having authority among them, the ones who draw correct conclusions from it would surely have known it. And if not (for) the favor of Allah upon you and His Mercy, you would surely have followed Satan, except for a few.
(Most scholars say that masturbation is forbidden. Interpreting masturbation as allowed contradicts the explicit prohibition of adultery and fornication, the commands “to lower your gaze” (24:30-31), to “guard your chastity/modesty/private parts” (24:30-31), the instruction to “refrain” if you cannot find marriage (24:33), and the Verses against desiring or wishing (12:24, 12:30).)(Some wrongly interpret these Verses as preventing adultery, fornication, and lustful interactions between people as the only original context, rather than explicitly referring to self-gratification, while there is a total prohibition against using your private parts on women other than your wives or what you rightfully possess (wives as well).) (Allah knows best)
4:107 And do not argue for those who deceive themselves. Indeed, Allah does not love (the one) who is treacherous (and) sinful.
4:119 "And I will surely mislead them and surely arouse desires in them, and I will surely order them so they will surely cut off the ears of the cattle and I will surely order them so they will surely change the creation of Allah." And whoever takes Satan as a friend besides Allah, then surely he (has) lost a manifest loss.
5:3 Are made unlawful for you the dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which is dedicated to other than Allah, and that which is strangled, and that which is fatally hit, and that which has a fatal fall, and that which is gored by horns, and that which ate the wild animal except what you slaughtered, and that which is sacrificed on stone altars, and that you seek division by divining arrows - that is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of your religion; so do not fear them, but fear Me. This day I have perfected your religion for you and I have completed My Favor upon you, and I have approved for you Islam as a religion. But whoever is forced by hunger with no inclination to sin, then indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 5:4 They ask you what is made lawful for them. Say, "Lawful for you are the good things (l-tayibatu) and what you have taught of hunting animals, ones who train animals to hunt, you teach them of what Allah has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah on it, and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is swift in taking account. 5:5 This day good things (l-tayibatu) are made lawful for you; and (wa) (the) food of those who were given the Book is lawful for you, and (wa) your food (is) lawful for them. And chaste women (wal-muh’sanatu) from the believers and chaste women (wal-muh’sanatu) from those who were given the Book before you, when you have given them their bridal due, being chaste (muh’sinina), not being lewd (musafihina), nor ones (who are) taking secret lovers (akhdanin). And whoever denies the faith - then surely his deeds are wasted and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.
(Some people use Verses about food (5:3-4, 2:173, 3:93-94) as if they were in favor of masturbation, but the context is exclusively about eating food, rather than allowing masturbation. For example, these sentences are only about food: “whoever is forced by hunger with no inclination to sin” (5:3); “whoever is forced, without (being) disobedient, nor transgressor, then there is no sin on him” (2:173)) (In regard to Verses 5:4-5, it says “lawful for you are the good things”. So, bad things are not lawful. For example, disbelievers are not lawful, so their pictures, drawings, and videos are not a good thing either. Seeking adultery / fornication is not a good thing. In addition, Verse 5:5 speaks about marrying, and not being lewd / spilling, nor taking secret lovers-not even with those who were given the Book before (5:5))
(The root of “musafihina” is “Siin-Fa-Ha”, and it means “to shed / flow, outpoured / spilled; musafihun – one who commits fornication or adultery, take unlawfully (women)”) (The root of “muh’sinina / muh’sanatu” (chaste) is “Ha-Sad-Nun”, and it means “to be guarded, be inaccessible / unapproachable, be chaste, be strongly fortified, difficult to access, to fortify oneself, etc.”) (In this case, being “fortified” or “inaccessible” suggest defending one’s chastity against other people, not against oneself in private. But, watching illicit media breaks down those defensive walls right before your eyes. What you see and think affects your private parts too, rather than being fortified) (The root of “akhdanin” (secret lovers) is “Kh-Dal-Nun”, and it means “to befriend, keep company, associate in secrecy or privacy, to converse/talk with”.) (It is argued that digital media or fictional characters cannot be “secret lovers” because there is no reciprocal relationship or actual human interaction. However, creating a private, hidden psychological relationship with digital content or fantasy figures might mimic the exact harms of a hidden, illicit companion. Engaging with hidden digital media fits the psychological profile of secrecy. Even if digital media is not regarded as “secret lover,” there are other things in the Qur’an against masturbating with digital media: the command to lower your gaze, the general prohibition of using your private parts except with your wives, and Verse 7:157 (read comment below), which prohibits evil crafted/artful things (e.g., digital media), etc.) (The root of “tayibatu” (good things) is “Tay-Ya-Ba”, and it means “to be good, pleasant, agreeable, lawful; tibna – of their (women’s) own free will and being good (to you); tuuba – joy, happiness, an enviable state of bliss; tayyib – good / clean / wholesome / gentle / excellent / fair / lawful”. According to Hussein’s “personal Quran”, “TTa-Y-B” is used for “any good entity or any entity that is good in it’s nature and effect. Religiously speaking, this suggests that things that are allowed by the religion are good for us, while things that are forbidden are not good for us.”) (A critic might attempt to use a circular logic argument: “If tayyib means pleasant, and a private habit feels pleasant, it must be good.” However, tayyib also implies being lawful. (e.g., other people’s wives, disbelievers, and fake or real people in digital media-all of them might be pleasant, but they are unlawful.)) (Allah knows best)
4:3 And if you fear that not you will be able to do justice with the orphans, then marry (fa-inkihu) what (ma) seems suitable (taba) to you (lakum) from the women (mina l-nisai) - two, or three, or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then one or what you rightfully possess. That is more appropriate that you may not oppress.
5:76 Say, "Do you worship besides Allah that which has no power to (cause) you any harm and nor any benefit, while Allah, He (is) the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing? 5:77 Say, "O People of the Book, do not exceed in your religion other than the truth, and do not follow the desires (ahwaa) of a people who certainly went astray before, and they misled many, and they have strayed from the right way.
(The word “desires” (5:77) also implies “fancies”. The word “fancy” is defined as “create imaginary images, imagine, think, illusion, idea, created to please, etc.”. Pornography, artificial intelligence porn, and porn comics and cartoons (e.g., hentai) come from someone’s imagination and fantasy) (The root of “ahwaa” (desires) is “ha-Waw-Ya”, and it means “yearn, fancy, beguile, infatuate, inspire with low passion, desires/fancies, etc.”) (The scholars say that the context of this Verse is not about sexual behavior; however, the meaning of the word itself strongly suggests sexual behavior.) (Allah knows best)
29:17 You only worship idols besides Allah, and you create falsehood. Indeed, those whom you worship besides Allah (do) not possess any provision for you. So seek [the] provision from Allah and worship Him and be grateful to Him. To Him you will be returned.
5:87 O you who believe, do not make unlawful good things (tayyibati), which (ma) Allah has made lawful for you, and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not love the transgressors. 5:88 And eat what Allah has provided for you – lawful, good. And fear Allah, the One you are believers in Him.
(Some people wrongly object that you cannot make unlawful something that is not explicitly forbidden, but Verse 5:87 says “do not make unlawful good things, which Allah has made lawful for you”. Masturbation has not explicitly been made lawful, and is not considered a good thing, if anyone other than your wives or your women are involved. Because sexual gratification is explicitly restricted by the Qur’an to spouses and lawful relationships, it is already restricted, meaning any outside method acts as a transgression.) (Verse 5:5 makes “good things” lawful, using the same word as Verse 5:87, but the context is food and marrying women) (The root of “tayyibati” (good things) is “Tay-Ya-Ba”, and it means, “to be good, pleasant, agreeable, lawful; tibna – of their (women’s) own free will and being good (to you); tuuba – joy, happiness, an enviable state of bliss; tayyib – good / clean / wholesome / gentle / excellent / fair / lawful”) (The root of “razaqa” (provided) is “Ra-Zay-Qaf”, and it means “to provide, supply, bestow, means of subsistence; rizq – bounty, gift, portion/share, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
6:43 Then why, when Our punishment came to them, they did not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened and Satan made fair-seeming to them what they used to do.
6:145 Say, "I do not find in what has been revealed to me (anything) forbidden to an eater who eats it except that it be dead or blood poured forth or the flesh of swine - for indeed, it is filth - or (it be) disobedience, dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is compelled neither desiring nor transgressing, then indeed, your Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
(The context of this Verse is food) (Allah knows best)
6:150 Say, "Bring forward your witnesses, those who testify that Allah prohibited this." Then if they testify, then (do) not testify with them. And (do) not follow (the) desires (of) those who denied Our Signs and those who (do) not believe in the Hereafter, while they set up equals with their Lord. 6:151 Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. That do not associate anything with Him, and be good to parents, and do not kill your children (out) of poverty, We provide for you and for them. And do not go near immoralities (l-fawahisha) what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul, which Allah has forbidden except by right. That (He) has enjoined on you with it, so that you may use reason."
(Verse 6:151 mentions what is forbidden. The Verse mentions the word “l-fawahisha” (the abominable acts/the ugly words or deeds). According to “personal Qur’an” by Hussein, the root “F-Ha-SH” means, “the ugly word or deed or any word or deed that has exceeded the border of decency and appropriateness. The term is often used related to sexual acts, but it is not limited to them”.) (So, it points to sexual acts too, because the Verse mentions “what is apparent of them and what is concealed”. “Apparent” implies the back, and “on top” since the back of an animal is the top of the animal and so on. While “concealed” implies “hidden”. “Conceptually it takes its meaning according to the plane of thought and carries the meaning of the real stomach or anything inside, including secrets and so forth. It is also the action of being hidden or internalized (happened) by the subject”) (So, the sinful deed which is a secret, hidden, or internalized is forbidden too) (Allah knows best)
7:32 Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment (from) Allah which He has brought forth for His slaves, and the pure things of sustenance?" Say, "They are for those who believe during the life of the world, exclusively (for them) (on the) Day of Resurrection. Thus We explain the Signs for (the) people who know." 7:33 Say, "My Lord has only forbidden immorality (l-fawahisha) - what is apparent of it and what is concealed, and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down any authority, and that you say about Allah what you do not know."
7:28 And when they do immorality they say, "We found our forefathers on it, and Allah has ordered us of it." Say, "Indeed, Allah does not order immorality (fahishatan). Do you say about Allah what you do not know?"
(Verse 7:28 is clear, “Indeed, Allah does not order immorality”. Verse 4:171 says, “do not commit excess in your religion and do not say about Allah except the truth.”) (Assuming God allows a hidden vice just because society normalizes it might fall under saying things about God without knowledge.) (Allah knows best)
7:148 And the people of Moses took, after him, from their ornaments an image (jasadan) of a calf, which [for] it (had) a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to a way? They took it and they were wrongdoers. … 7:152 Indeed, those who took the calf, will reach them the wrath from their Lord, and humiliation in the life of the world. And thus We recompense the ones who invent.
(It is objected that digital images of women on your computer or camera, or comics, cartoons, or videos on a device are not actual women, but merely electronic data or objects in your computer or camera. And it works as a reconstruction of what the camera saw, like a well-drawn picture. Another point: in Verse 7:148, the text references ‘an image of a calf,’ which is subsequently referred to simply as a ‘calf’ in Verse 7:152. By this linguistic logic, a digital depiction or illustration of a woman can functionally be categorized and addressed under the same framework as a woman. Psychologically and visually, the brain reacts to an image or digital representation with the same primal desire as a real person) (Verse 17:14 states, "Read your record. Sufficient (is) yourself against you today (as) accountant," suggesting that, in the case of recorded media and photographs, it reflects a factual record of human reality, rather than something unreal) (According to the context, “whom (ma) you rightfully possess” are “real people”, lawful for marriage in the Qur’an, rather than “objects” for masturbation or fornication) (The Qur’an commands believers to lower their gaze and guard their private parts from everything except real people who are with them (spouses or those whom they rightfully possess). Digital media cannot substitute for a real marriage) (According to Verse 7:152, those who took the “image” will face humiliation, and thus the ones who “invent” are recompensed. Though, in this case, the context is about taking the image as a deity-However, you cannot take your desires as a god either.) (Allah knows best)
37:95 He said, "Do you worship that which you carve 37:96 While Allah created you and that which you do?"
(The context of these Verses is the worship of gods other than Allah (37:85-96)) (What mankind does is also His creation (e.g., that which you carve). Therefore, the Verse does not mean that God created an idol for you; rather, the point is that people wrongly took His creation (such as stone) to carve it. Even when carved, the object remains a creation, not a deity. Ultimately, humans cannot make anything that ceases to be God’s creation (i.e., they cannot turn it into an actual deity).)(Allah knows best)
7:157 Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel. He commands them to the right and forbids them from the wrong, and he makes lawful for them the pure things (l-tayibati) and makes unlawful for them the impure things (l-khabaitha) and he relieves them of their burden and the fetters which were upon them. So those who believe in him, and honor him, and help him and follow the light, which has been sent down with him, those are the successful ones."
(The root of “tayibati” (pure things) is “Tay-Ya-Ba”, which means “to be good, pleasant, agreeable, lawful; tibna – of their (women’s) own free will and being good (to you); tuuba – joy, happiness, an enviable state of bliss; tayyib – good / clean / wholesome / gentle / excellent / fair / lawful.” Another dictionary says “Ta-Y-B” means good and leads to goodness. The term is used for anything that is good and leads to good results.”) (The root of “khabaitha” is “Kh-Ba-Tha”, and it means “bad / foul / abominable / corrupt / wicked / deceitful, impure / unclean / filthy, depraved / disapproved / hated / unlawful / disagreeable / culpable / disobedient, evil, malignant / noxious, guileful / artful / crafty / cunning, etc.”) (Hussein’s “personalquran” dictionary says that KH-B-TH (impure things) means “anything that is not helpful, not usable and not good, or even bad. The action is described as the action of becoming useless, poor, and unhelpful.”) (The words “artful”, “crafty” and “cunning” imply that (harmful) cartoons, sex dolls or AI porn are not okay. And the unlawful matter is something bad/evil. So, not all “artful” things might necessarily be evil (architecture, fashion, etc.)) (The original, core meaning of the Arabic triliteral root KH-B-TH centers entirely around badness, impurity, wickedness, and foulness. The words “artful”, “crafty”, and “cunning” are specific behavioral outcomes. It is wrongly said that a Verse from the 7th century might not be intended to talk about AI, since the Qur’an is timeless. And when we use “crafty,” “cunning,” or “artful” in the specific sense of being sly, wily, and plotting deceptively, then that meaning of KH-B-TH has existed since long before the Qur’an was revealed. When it comes to opposing AI porn, the meaning of KH-B-TH perfectly fits. It is interpreted that AI porn isn’t just an abstract impurity; it is a cunning, deceitful, and underhanded manipulation of reality (deepfakes, algorithms) designed to corrupt.) (It is also interpreted that the meaning of Tayyib (pure things)-such as pleasantness, joy, happiness, and wholesomeness-might be in favor of AI women. However, Tayyib is explicitly tied to things that are clean and lawful, and Kh-Ba-Tha is tied to things that are unlawful and unclean.) (Verse 24:26 uses the root KH-B-TH in reference to women: “Evil women (al-khabithatu) are for evil men… and evil men are for evil women (lil-khabithati).” While a person might become evil like them (because they are not for you), the context here is interpreted to be about real human beings, human speech, and human deeds. However, AI-generated women are evil and unlawful in themselves too because they were made for the people to use for masturbation, whereas your private parts are restricted to your wives. This restriction is meant to prevent you from committing fornication or adultery, with your eyes and mind, which is forbidden. This applies even to AI-generated women; because they are presented as “women,” (e.g., image of a calf is called “calf”) they still fail to fulfill the conditions for marriage (such as having real human identity, being believers, or obtaining family permission for marriage.)) (Another point to consider is that movies of any genre, video games, and music also fit into the same category as AI (being artful, crafty, and cunning). However, these are generally regarded as forms of entertainment, enjoyment, or distraction (rather than matching KH-B-TH’s core meaning of “badness”). In that sense, they should not distract you from the remembrance of Allah (24:37). Furthermore, Verse 28:60 states, “And whatever things you have been given (is) an enjoyment of the life of the world and its adornment. And what (is) with Allah (is) better and more lasting.” Verse 37:148 says, “And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment for a while.” Therefore, enjoyment is not bad in itself, as long as it is lawful. The same root is found in Verse 4:24 (you benefit / is’tamta’tum) regarding lawful women) (If movies, video games, AI, and music are used for something harmful, corrupt, or immoral, it is usually considered bad. By falling under the definition of Kh-B-TH, they can then be made unlawful according to Verse 7:157. On the other hand, if they teach values, are educational, provide clean entertainment, translate texts (in the case of AI), automate tasks, etc., they are usually considered good and beneficial (Tayyib), and can therefore be made lawful.) (Allah knows best)
7:176 And if We willed, surely We could have raised him with these but he adhered to the earth and followed his desires (hawahu). So his example is like the example (of) the dog, if you attack him, he lolls out his tongue or if you leave him, he lolls out his tongue. That is the example of the people who denied Our Signs. So relate the story so that they may reflect.
(The root of “hawa” (desires) is “ha-Waw-Ya” and it means “desires / fancies, rev, perish, pull down, destroy, disappear, infatuate, yearn, beguile, be blown, inspire with low passion, to fall steep as a bird to its prey.”) (Allah knows best)
7:189 He is the One Who created you from a single soul and made from it its mate (zawjaha) that he might live with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues with it. But when she grows heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, "If You give us a righteous, we will surely be among the thankful."
10:59 Say, "Have you seen what Allah has sent down for you of the provision, and you have made of it unlawful and lawful?" Say, "Has Allah permitted you or do you invent against Allah?"
(The context of the Verse is about what God has sent down, and it is interpreted as sustenance, like food, livestock, crops, and wealth) (In the case of pornography or explicit material, it is made/recorded by people rather than being a provision from God. Those who produce it spread immorality through their actions.) (Allah knows best)
10:60 And what will be the assumption of those who invent lies against Allah on the Day of Judgment? Indeed, Allah is surely Full of Bounty to mankind, but most of them are not grateful.
12:23 And she, in whose house he was, sought (warawadathu) to seduce him. And she closed the doors and she said, "Come on you." He said, "I seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, he is my lord, Who has made good my stay. Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed." 12:24 And certainly she did desire (hammat) him, and he would have desired (wahamma) her, if he had not seen the proof of his Lord. Thus, that We might avert (linasrifa) from him evil and immorality (wal-fahshaa). Indeed, he was of Our sincere slaves. 12:25 And they both raced to the door, and she tore his shirt from the back, and they both found her husband at the door. She said, "What is the recompense (of one) who intended (arada) evil for your wife except that he be imprisoned or a painful punishment?" … 12:33 He said, "My Lord, the prison is dearer to me than that to which they invite me. And unless You turn away their plot from me, I might incline towards them and be of the ignorant."
(In regard to Chapter 12, she desired a skin-to-skin relationship, but he did not even desire/think about it, and God averted from him evil and immorality) (Another point is that sex slavery is not supported in the Qur’an. So, the fact that she “possessed” him did not imply that she could have sexual relations with him. For example, the “possession” of AI-generated women does not give license to masturbate, as the protection of one’s private parts and gaze is strictly commanded in the Qur’an; anything beyond that constitutes transgression or fornication with your mind and eyes) (It could be objected that she was married and could only have one man, while men can have more than one woman. The answer to the objection is that men can only have four “wives” (4:3), rather than unmarried sex slaves, which is not supported in the Qur’an) (The root of “hamma” is “ha-Miim-Miim”, and it means “to worry / regard / care, concern, ponder anything in one’s mind, desire, meditate, think about, anxious, plot against, intend, purpose, etc.”) (The root of “arada” (12:25) and “rawadat” (12:23) is “Ra-Waw-Dal”, and it means “to seek, search (for food), go round about; rawada – desire, seduce, entice, seduce against the will; yuridu – he wishes, intends, etc.”) (The root of “nasrifa” is “Sad-Ra-Fa”, and it means “to turn away, divert, avert, set forth, propound, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
12:30 And the women in the city said, "The wife of Aziz (is) seeking to seduce (turawidu) her slave boy; indeed, he has impassioned her (shaghafaha) (with) love (hubban). Indeed, we surely see her in clear error."
(It is interpreted that liking / wishing / loving / having an object of love other than your husband or wife is “clear error” (12:30)) (The root of “turawidu” (seeking to seduce) is “Ra-Waw-Dal”, and it means “to seek, ask a thing gently, search (for food); rawada – to long after, desire, seduce, entice, seduce against the will; yuridu – he wishes, intends, etc.”) (The root of “shaghafa” (he has impassioned) is “Shiin-Gh-Fa”, and it means “to affect deeply, affect in the heart’s core, inspire (with violent love); shaghfun – bottom of the heart, pericardium; shaghaf – passionate love”) (The root of “hubban” (love) is “Ha-Ba-Ba”, and it means “to be loved / beloved, affected / liked / approved, be an object of love, lovely/pleasing/charming, take pleasure in a thing. To love, like, wish, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
60:10 O you who believe, when the believing women come to you as emigrants, then examine them. Allah is most knowing of their faith. And if you know them to be believers, then do not return them to the disbelievers. They are not lawful for them, nor are they lawful for them. And give them what they have spent. And there is no blame upon you if you marry them when you have given them their (bridal) dues. And (wa) do not hold to marriage bonds (bi’isami) with disbelieving women, and ask (wasalu) for what you have spent, and let them ask for what they have spent. That is the Judgment of Allah. He judges between you. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. 60:11 And if any of your wives have gone from you to the disbelievers, then your turn comes, then give (to) those whose wives have gone (the) like (of) what they had spent. And fear Allah (in) Whom you (are) believers [in Him]. … 60:13 O you who believe, do not make allies (tatawallaw) of a people upon whom is Allah's Wrath. Indeed, they despair of the Hereafter as the disbelievers despair of the companions of the graves.
(Some people think that it is okay to have disbelieving sexual slaves, or that it is also okay to use their photos or videos for masturbation, as if their disbelief allowed fornication / adultery for you, but Verses 12:23-25, 12:33, 60:10, 33:28, 66:2, and 66:5 suggest that there should not be any sexual purpose towards them, but you have to release them, because there are no sexual slaves in Islam. Disbelieving men are unlawful (60:10)) (The root of “isami” (marriage bonds) is “Ayn-Sad-Miim”, and it means “to protect / defend / preserve / abstain / save, hold fast, formally seek refuge; ismatun – defence, guardianship, prevention, immunity from sin, chastity; ‘isama: bonds, ties, preventions, preservations (of marriage), etc.”. So, you cannot “hold” disbelievers, or they cannot be under your guardianship. Another dictionary says that “Ain-Sad-M” means “protecting or protection. One of the meanings of the word is “the rope that one holds his animal with to protect against going astray or the rope one holds onto to protect him from raging water or wind”) (The root of “tatawalla” (allies) is “Waw-Lam-Ya”, and it means “to be close, near, follow, be up to, direction of following”) (Allah knows best)
12:32 She said, "That (is) the one about whom you blamed me. And I certainly sought to seduce him, but he saved himself (fa-is’ta’sama), and if he does not do what I order him, surely, he will be imprisoned and certainly will be of those who are disgraced.”
(It is objected that Verses 12:32 and 60:10 use a word with the same root (“Ayn-Sad-Miim”), and one Verse talks about “holding” and the other about “not holding,” as if there were a contradiction, but there is no contradiction. In Verse 60:10 you do not hold disbelieving women, so they do not have the “protection that makes a person immune to dangers or negative influences”; on the other hand, the context of Verse 12:32 is that Joseph “held himself / protected himself” from that danger or negative influence (in other words, he protected himself from relations outside marriage, whether she was a believer or disbeliever). In addition, Verse 60:10 says about those disbelieving women, “and ask for what you have spent, and let them ask for what they have spent,” which suggest that you are leaving them rather than allowing a sexual purpose. This interpretation is supported by a previous sentence in Verse 60:10: “do not return them to the disbelievers. They are not lawful for them, nor are they lawful for them. And give them what they have spent”) (Another point is that you only pick one meaning of the word, according to the context of the Verse, and according to that meaning which makes the Verse in line with other Verses of the Qur’an. So, the context of Verse 12:32 might be about protecting/saving himself from sexual relations outside marriage, while the context of 60:10 is not explicitly about sexual relations, but it might be about you not holding disbelieving women in protection in general (e.g., if you are married, you have to divorce her)) (This interpretation of Verse 60:10 might be supported by other Verses of the Qur’an: Verse 9:67 says, “The hypocrite men and the hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin the wrong and forbid what is right” (Note: the hypocrite women are not for you). Verse 9:71 says, “the believing men and the believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong”. Verse 2:36 says, “Then Satan made (both of) them slip out of it, and he got (both of) them out from that in which they (both) were. And We said, "Go down (all of you), as enemies to one another” (Note: followers of Satan are enemies). Verse 3:195 says, “Indeed, I will not let go waste the deeds of the doer among you, whether male or female; you are of one another”. Verse 2:221 says, “do not marry polytheistic women until they believe. And a believing bondwoman is better than a polytheistic woman, even if she pleases you. And do not give in marriage to polytheistic men until they believe, and a believing bondman is better than a polytheistic man, even if he pleases you. They invite to the Fire, and Allah invites to Paradise and forgiveness by His permission”. Verse 24:3 says, “The fornicator (will) not marry except a fornicatress, or a polytheist woman, and the fornicatress - (will) not marry except a fornicator or a polytheist man. And that is forbidden to the believers”. (Note: you have to divorce polytheistic women and fornicatresses, lest you be like them). Verse 5:2 says, “help one another in righteousness and piety, but do not help one another in sin and transgression” (Note: the Qur’an does not say that you have to help a disbeliever in sin and transgression, but you have to invite them to the religion (12:108, 22:67, 28:87, 2:221) (only disbelievers invite to the fire, while believers invite to that which is right)) (Allah knows best)
3:195 Then their Lord responded to them, "Indeed, I will not let go waste the deeds of the doer among you, whether male or female; you are of one another. So those who emigrated and were driven out from their homes, and were harmed in My way and fought and were killed - I will surely remove from them their evil deeds, and I will surely admit them to Gardens beneath which rivers flow - a reward from Allah. And Allah - with Him is the best reward."
33:28 O Prophet, say to your wives, "If you desire the life of the world and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and release you with a good release. … 66:2 Indeed, Allah has ordained for you the dissolution of your oaths. And Allah is your Protector, and He is the All-Knower, the All-Wise. … 66:5 Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you, He will substitute for him wives better than you - submissive, faithful, obedient, repentant, who worship, who fast, previously married and virgins.
(If wives are no longer submissive, faithful, obedient, repentant, who worship, who fast (66:5), then they are to be divorced (66:2) and released (33:28), rather than retained as sexual slaves) (Allah knows best)
15:88 (Do) not extend your eyes towards what We have bestowed (matta’na) with it (to) categories (azwajan) of them, and (do) not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers.
16:114 So eat of what Allah has provided you lawful and good. And be grateful for the Favor of Allah, if Him Alone you worship. 16:115 He has only forbidden to you dead animal, and the blood, and the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah. But if one is forced - without being disobedient, nor a transgressor - then indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 16:116 And do not say about what your tongues assert, a lie, "This is lawful and this is forbidden," so that you invent a lie about Allah. Indeed, those who invent a lie about Allah, they will not succeed. 16:117 An little enjoyment, and for them (is) a painful punishment. 16:118 And to those who are Jews We have forbidden that which We related to you before. And We did not wrong them, but they used (to) wrong themselves.
17:32 And do not go near (taqrabu) adultery/fornication (l-zina). Indeed, it is an immorality (fahishatan) and an evil way.
(The word “near” could imply going “near in affection” (5:82), so it does not only refer to a physical issue) (The meaning of the word “zina” (adultery/fornication) also implies “mounting”. In masturbation, the mounting might be committed in your mind/imagination, so it is not a good thought) (The root of “l-zina” (adultery/fornication) is “Zay-Nun-Ya”, and it means “to mount, the mounting upon a thing, to commit fornication / adultery, fornicator / adulterer”) (The root of “taqrabu” (go near) is “Qaf-Ra-Ba”, and it means “to be near to, approach, be near in relationship or rank, be at hand, draw near; qurbatun – proximity, means of drawing nigh, kindred, relationship; qaribun – near at hand (either in time or place), etc.”) (Allah knows best)
19:59 Then succeeded after them successors who neglected the prayer and they followed the lusts (l-shahawati), so soon they will meet evil 19:60 Except (one) who repented and believed and did good (deeds). Then those will enter Paradise, and they will not be wronged (in) anything.
(The root of “shahawati” (lusts) is “Shiin-ha-Ya / Shiin-ha-Waw”, and it means “to long or desire eagerly, made it to be good / sweet / pleasant or the like, loved it or wished for it, desired eagerly / intensely, yearning of the soul for a thing; appetite, lust, gratification of venereal lust, greedy, voracious, was or became like him, resembling him, jested or joked with him, etc.”) (“Shiin-ha-Ya” might not be bad in itself, as long as it is lawful, so it depends on the context (3:14, 43:71). The context is not always about sexuality. In verse 7:81, you cannot approach men with “desire”, instead of women, etc.) (Allah knows best)
20:131 And do not extend your eyes towards that (by) which (ma) We have given enjoyment (matta’na) with it, (to) pairs (azwajan) of them, the splendor of the life of the world, by which We may test them. And (wa) the provision (wariz’qu) of your Lord is better and more lasting. 20:132 And enjoin prayer on your family and be steadfast therein. We do not ask you for provision (riz’qan); We provide for you (narzuquka), and the outcome is for the righteous.
(It is interpreted that the enjoyment/splendor in Verse 20:131 is addressed to “pairs / spouses / wedded of / from them”. The spouses have wealth, in order to marry, and they have children. Verse 8:28 says, “And know that your wealth and your children are a trial. And that, with Allah is a great reward.” And Verse 9:55 says, “So let not their wealth and their children impress you”) (The root of “azwajan” (pairs) is “Zay-Waw-Jiim”, and it means “to couple / join / pair / unite / wed, marriage, a pair, a fellow or like, spouse”) (The root of “riz’qu” (provision) is “Ra-Zay-Qaf”, and it means “to provide, supply, bestow, grant, means of subsistence, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
22:30 That, and whoever honors the sacred rites of Allah, then it is best for him near his Lord. And are made lawful to you the cattle except what is recited to you. So avoid the abomination of idols and avoid the false word.
(The context is meat) (Allah knows best)
24:2 The adulteress/fornicatress and the adulterer/fornicator, flog each of them with hundred lashes. And (let) not withhold you pity for them concerning the religion of Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment. 24:3 The fornicator (will) not marry (yankihu) except a fornicatress, or a polytheist woman, and the fornicatress - (will) not marry [her] (yankihuha) except a fornicator or a polytheist man. And that is forbidden to the believers. 24:4 And those who accuse chaste women, then they do not bring four witnesses, then flog them with eighty lashes and never accept their testimony. And those, they are the defiantly disobedient,
(The fornicators (implying two persons) are punished in this world (24:2). On the other hand, those who commit adultery/fornication are doubly punished on the Day of Resurrection (25:68-69)) (If fornicators and fornicatresses are forbidden to the believers for marriage (which prevents you from having sexual relations with them), it suggests that they are not okay for masturbation either) (Note: hussein’s “personalquran” says that the root “N-K-Ha” (marry) “means having sex between man and woman through the right channels. That is why it is the word that is used for marriage since marriage involves sex in the right way”) (Based on the definition of “N-K-Ha” (marry) from Hussein’s dictionary, it could be interpreted that “having sex” (e.g., in your mind) with an adulteress or fornicatress also makes you an adulterer or fornicator (24:2-3). In addition, Verse 24:3 says, “that is forbidden to the believers.”) (It could be objected that cartoons, AI-generated women, or sex dolls are not “polytheist” like the ones mentioned in Verse 24:3, but according to Verses 70:29-30, you can only use your private parts with “believing” people mentioned in Verse 70:30. Could cartoons, AI-generated women, or sex dolls drive people to “polytheism”? You somehow follow/obey the purpose/desires of the people who made them. Following/obeying people or desires instead of God is polytheism (6:121, 5:77, 79:40, 4:119, 24:3). Explicitly declaring what God made forbidden as permissible (or vice versa) is usually classified as polytheism.) (Note: the sentence “The fornicator (will) not marry except a fornicatress” (24:3) seems like a paradox, because if they are married, how can they still be called fornicators? The Verse is interpreted as meaning that a person who habitually engages in illicit relations (a fornicator) is not a suitable partner for a chaste believer. In other words, if you “marry/have legal sex” with those who are forbidden, you become a fornicator (just for having sexual relations with them) or a polytheist like them (Polytheism understood as following rules other than God’s rules-for example, when human authorities explicitly legalize actions that God has forbidden, or vice versa. Other Verses support that following people instead of God, or opposing God, is polytheism). Using videos and pictures of those who are forbidden “to marry/have legal sex” for masturbation may also be forbidden) (The fact that you cannot marry to a disbeliever implies that you cannot have “lawful sex” with them, so having sex with them would be “unlawful sex” (e.g., fornication)) (It is also interpreted that you cannot marry a sex doll, cartoon, or AI-generated woman, in the traditional way, which implies that you cannot have “lawful sex” with them. Some people marry their sex doll, but the Qur’an mentions the personality and faith of women for marriage (which is absent in sex dolls), and it is not lawful to inherit women by force, so they cannot even agree / speak on their own, or they cannot be believers (4:25), or they cannot be given from your wealth (4:24); they have no family, so you cannot marry them with the permission of a family (4:25), you cannot take them as secret lovers either (4:25), etc.) (Verse 4:24 states, “there is no sin on you concerning what you mutually agree to, beyond the obligation,” Some might interpret this as if the requirements for marriage were optional. However, the context relies on the phrase “what you mutually agree to,” which implies two persons, and explicitly refers to the bridal due, rather than other contexts. (One cannot transgress the limits: sexual relations must be within the bounds of marriage, with believing women, etc.) (Note: the root of “family” is “Alif-ha-Lam,” and it means “possessor / people of, one who recites, superintended / owner, inhabitants / family / people of house or dwelling”) (Allah knows best)
36:60 Did I not enjoin upon you, O Children of Adam, that do not worship Satan, indeed, he is for you a clear enemy, 36:61 And that you worship Me? This is a Straight Path.
33:49 O you who believe, when you marry (nakahtumu) believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, then there is not for you any waiting period to count concerning them. So provide for them and release them with a good release.
(The root “N-K-Ha” (to marry) implies “lawful sex,” but according to Verse 33:49 it also refers to the legal contract itself; this is supported by Verse 24:33, in which marrying also implies “writing.” So, you might marry and then divorce before you have touched them (33:49).) (One might mistakenly use this Verse to argue that if no physical “touching” occurs, no harm is done, thereby attempting to justify masturbation and sexual fantasies) (Using one’s mind to sexually indulge in imagery is a form of mental touching. Willfully engaging in these fantasies with forbidden or fornicated images still constitutes a form of mental fornication, which makes you a fornicator (24:3)) (Therefore, while one could object that Verse 33:49 treats “not touching” as harmless, or less severe than “touching,” as if masturbation were okay, notice that the context of the Verse is that they are married, rather than fornicators or individuals engaging in mental fornication) (Allah knows best)
24:26 Evil women (al-khabithatu) are for evil men, and evil men are for evil women (lil’khabithati). And good women are for good men, and good men are for good women. Those are innocent of what they say. For them (is) forgiveness and a noble provision.
(Verse 7:157 makes unlawful “impure things” (al-khabaith), which also implies “artful,” “crafty,” “cunning,” and inherently bad/evil. This suggests that cartoons, sex dolls, or AI porn are unlawful. Verse 24:26 uses the same root word for “evil women” (al-khabithatu). While some might object that cartoons or AI images are not “evil” because they are not real people with thoughts or feelings, an interpretation of Verse 23:5-6 restricts intimate gratification to lawful spouses and what you rightfully possess.) (Notice that Verse 24:26 specifies that a good woman is for you.) (It is also interpreted that everything is forbidden (with regard to your private parts) except with the people mentioned in Verse 23:5-6) (The cartoon, AI images, etc., might also be based on or inspired by real people who are not for you) (Allah knows best)
66:5 Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you, He will substitute for him wives better than you - submissive, faithful, obedient, repentant, who worship, who fast, previously married and virgins.
(Hussein’s personalquran dictionary says, “The root Ain-B-D means slave or servant. Conceptually, it is an entity that is easy to manage and does smooth sailing, either on its own or by being subject to pressure from above. It is used for a slave, a servant, or anyone who is humbled for love, devotion, or the sheer power of another entity.”) (Notice that the root Ain-B-D is never used for female slaves who are slaves of other people in the Qur’an. The only time the root Ayn-Ba-Dal applies to women in the Qur’an is when it refers to being a servant / slave / worshiper of God (66:5).) (The word “slave women” with the root F-T-Y does not imply, for example, sex dolls, because it refers to when a youth has just reached maturity. Therefore, it carries the meaning of height of maturity and vigor. Conceptually, it is used for youth as well as mature opinions at their heights. Since sex dolls do not have opinions and do not reach maturity, etc., the comparison fails.) (The other word used for a maid or female slave is “Alif-Miim-Waw” (2:221, 24:32), and it means a “female/woman made/became a slave, handmaid, utter a cry, follow/imitate.” The context of 2:221 is “a believing bondwoman” (wala-amatun mu’minatun), and the context of Verse 24:32 is marrying the “righteous” among “female slaves.” Therefore, sex dolls are neither believers nor do they perform righteous deeds, which is also a condition for having lawful sex/marriage.) (Allah knows best)
24:19 Indeed, those who like that immorality (l-fahishatu) (should) spread among those who believe, for them is a painful punishment in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows, while you do not know.
24:60 And postmenopausal among the women who (do) not have desire (yarjuna) (for) marriage, then (there) is no blame on them that they put aside their (outer) garments, not displaying their adornment. And (wa) that they modestly refrain (yasta’fif’na) (is) better for them. And Allah (is) All-Hearer, All-Knower.
(The root of “yasta’fifi” (translated as “modestly refrain”) is “Ayn-Fa-Fa,” and it means “to abstain from what is unlawful, be abstinent, refrain; ta’affuf – modest / abstinence”) (The root of “yarju” (desire) is “Ra-Jiim-Waw,” and it means “to hope/expect, keep awaited, put aside, defer/delay, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
25:54 And He is the One Who has created from water human being and has made for him blood relationship (nasaban) and marriage relationship (wasih’ran). And your Lord is All-Powerful.
(There is no mention of a “relationship” made “for you” other than blood and marriage relationships (25:54). Turning to objects for sexual gratification is a man-made and unlawful third category of intimacy) (The root of “sih’ran” (marriage relationship) is “Sad-ha-Ra,” and it means “melt, relationship, nearness with respect to kindred, the sacred or inviolable, tie of relationship by marriage, etc.”) (The root of “nasaban” (blood relationship) is “Nun-Siin-Ba,” and it means “to give or ask one’s genealogy, ask the pedigree or linage of, kinship, relationship”) (Allah knows best)
25:73 And those who, when they are reminded of (the) Verses (of) their Lord, (they do) not fall upon them deaf and blind. 25:74 And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and our offspring comfort to our eyes, and make us a leader for the righteous." 25:75 Those will be awarded the Chamber because they were patient, and they will be met therein (with) greetings and peace.
25:68 And those who do not invoke with Allah another god, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right, and do not commit adultery/fornication (yaznuna). And whoever does that will meet a penalty. 25:69 The punishment will be doubled for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide forever therein humiliated 25:70 Except he who repents and believes and does righteous deeds, then for those Allah will replace their evil deeds with good ones. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
(The root of “l-zina” (adultery/fornication) is “Zay-Nun-Ya,” and it means “to mount, the mounting upon a thing, to commit fornication / adultery, fornicator / adulterer”) (It is interpreted that you cannot commit a skin-to-skin relation or one involving “mounting.” But another interpretation is that you should not watch it either (e.g., watching people committing it while you masturbate) or you should not have thoughts about it either, lest you have a sinful mind) (The consequence of committing adultery / fornication is abiding forever therein (i.e., Hell) (25:68-69)) (Allah knows best)
26:161 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear? … 26:165 Do you approach the males among the worlds 26:166 And you leave (watadharuna) what your Lord created for you as your mates (azwajikum)? Nay, you are a people transgressing."
(In masturbation, you are also leaving that which was created for you as your mates (26:161-165)) (The root of “azwaji” (mates) is “Zay-Waw-Jiim,” and it means “spouse, marriage, to couple / join / pair / unite / wed, a pair, a fellow or like; zuwwijat: is paired, united; zaujan: wife; husband”) (The root of “tadharu” (leave) is “Waw-Dhal-Ra,” and it means “to leave / forsake / neglect, fall upon, wound, cut in slices, let, desist”) (Allah knows best)
27:54 And Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit (atatuna) immorality (l-fahishata) while you see? 27:55 Why do you approach (latatuna) men with lust (shahwatan) instead of women (l-nisai)? Nay, you are an ignorant people."
(In pornography, you indirectly approach men, because many people watch videos and photos in which men are having relations with women. And many people find it more appealing than watching women alone) (Another point is that if you watch their videos on the net, or buy them in a shop, you make them earn money, so they keep making more videos and photos instead of encouraging people to protect their modesty. You should not spread immorality (24:19)) (The root of “tatu” (approach / commit) is “Alif-Taa-Waw / Alif-Ta-Ya,” and it means “to come, to bring, come to pass, come upon, do, commit, arrive, pursue, put forth, reach, happen, overtake, draw near, go, meet, join, be engaged or occupied, perpetrate, undertake, etc.”) (And the root of “shahwatan” (lust) is “Shiin-ha-Ya / Shiin-ha-Waw,” and it means “to long or desire eagerly, made it to be good / sweet / pleasant or the like, loved it or wished for it, desired eagerly / intensely, yearning of the soul for a thing; appetite, lust, gratification of venereal lust, etc.”) (The root of “fahishata” is “Fa-Ha-Shin,” and it means “became excessive / immoderate / enormous / exorbitant / overmuch / beyond measure, foul / bad / evil / unseemly / indecency / abominable, lewd / gross / obscene, committing excess which is forbidden, transgress the bounds / limits, avaricious, adultery / fornication”) (Allah knows best)
54:43 Are your disbelievers better than those, or for you (is) an exemption in the Scriptures?
(Disbelievers are not an exemption when it comes to modesty. You cannot benefit from their immodesty, and they should be modest as well) (Disbelievers are not for the believers, and neither are their videos and photos. Even if you don’t personally know a person, you can tell if they are a disbeliever because of their lack of modesty and their role in spreading immorality.)(Allah knows best)
29:29 Indeed, you approach men, and you cut off the road and commit evil in your meetings?" And the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Bring upon us the punishment of Allah if you are of the truthful."
33:5 Call them by their fathers; it is more just near Allah. But if you do not know their fathers - then they are your brothers in religion and your friends. But (fa) there is no blame upon you if you made a mistake (akhtatum) therein, but what your hearts intended (ta’ammadat). And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
(Some people say that masturbation prevents fornication / adultery, but it might not be an excuse. Actually, your heart/mind/eyes could also intend/commit fornication / adultery, so by masturbating you are not preventing fornication / adultery in your mind and with your eyes. You are “ordered” to lower your gaze and to protect your private parts. Those who disobey are to be punished) (The root of “ta’ammadat” (intended) is “Ayn-Miim-Dal,” and it means “to intend, support, aim, propose, commit (a sin intentionally); muta’ammidan: on purpose, intentionally, etc.”) (The root of “akhta” (mistake) is “Kh-Tay-Alif,” and it means “to do wrong, commit a mistake or error, commit a sin or crime or act of disobedience for which one deserves punishment, commit a fault or offense (intentionally or unintentionally), pursue a wrong way (intentionally or otherwise), miss or deviate from, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
33:50 O Prophet, Indeed, We have made lawful to you your wives (azwajaka) (to) whom you have given their bridal money and those whom your right possesses from what Allah has given to you and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet, and the Prophet wishes to marry her - only for you, excluding the believers. We certainly, know what We have made obligatory upon them concerning their wives (azwajihim) and those whom their rights possess, that there should be no discomfort upon you. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. …
(The women mentioned in Verse 33:50 are lawful for marriage, not for fornication / adultery) (Notice that those whom you rightfully possesses are those “from what Allah has given to you” (33:50), rather than videos, dolls, photos, etc., given by people) (Trying to fight physical zina by engaging in visual and mental zina is a contradiction) (Allah knows best)
33:52 It is not lawful for you women after, and nor to exchange them for (other) wives, and even if their beauty pleases you, except those whom you rightfully possess. And Allah is an Observer over all things. 33:53 O you who believe, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when permission is given to you for a meal, without awaiting its preparation. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, then disperse without seeking to remain for a conversation. Indeed, that was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask them for something, then ask them from behind a screen. That is purer for your hearts (liqulubikum) and their hearts (waqulubihinna). And it is not for you that you trouble the Messenger of Allah nor that you should ever marry his wives after him. Indeed, that is an enormity near Allah.
(The word “qulubi” is translated/interpreted as “heart,” but it also implies “mind.” So, your mind/heart should be pure. The root of “qulubi” is “Q-L-B,” and it means “The heart of something. In the Qur’an, it means the heart of the self, that is the heart and mind”) (Allah knows best)
2:283 And if you are on a journey and you do not find a scribe, then take pledge in hand. And if one of you entrusts another, then let the one who is entrusted discharge his trust, and let him fear Allah, his Lord. And do not conceal the evidence. And whoever conceals it - then indeed his heart (qalbuhu) is sinful. And Allah is All-Knower of what you do.
(Someone’s mind could also be sinful, not just the body or actions) (Verse 2:283 says, “his heart (qalbuhu) is sinful.” The root of the word “qalbu” is Qaf-Lam-Ba, and it means “heart and mind”) (Allah knows best)
42:19 Allah (is) Subtle with His slaves; He gives provision (to) whom He wills. And He (is) the All-Strong, the All-Mighty. 42:20 Whoever is desiring (the) harvest (of) the Hereafter - We increase for him in his harvest. And whoever is desiring (the) harvest (of) the world, We give him of it, but (there is) not for him any share in the Hereafter.
42:36 So whatever thing you are given is but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe and put (their) trust in their Lord. 42:37 And those who avoid the greater sins and the immoralities (wal-fawahisha), and when they are angry, they forgive,
(Masturbation is regarded by many people as a small sin, but that’s not explicitly confirmed in the Qur’an. You have to avoid greater sins and “immoralities” in general) (In fact, disobedience is a major sin. You are commanded to guard your private parts (70:29), etc. Verse 2:99 says, “And indeed We revealed to you clear Verses, and none disbelieve in them except the defiantly disobedient.”)(The root of “fawahisha” (immorality) is “Fa-Ha-Shin,” and it means “became excessive / immoderate / enormous / exorbitant / overmuch / beyond measure, foul / bad / evil / unseemly / indecency / abominable, lewd / gross / obscene, committing excess which is forbidden, transgress the bounds / limits, avaricious, adultery / fornication”) (Another dictionary says that “F-Ha-SH (immorality) means “the ugly word or deed or any word or deed that has exceeded the border of decency and appropriateness. The term is often used related to sexual acts, but it is not limited to it”) (Allah knows best)
45:29 This, Our Record, speaks about you in truth. Indeed, We [We] used to transcribe what you used to do."
(According to Verse 45:29, records can speak about someone in truth. It implies that looking at videos and photos is like looking at real women) (The cartoons and AI-generated images of women are also like looking at “women” because, for example, the image of the calf is also called “calf” (2:51) in the Qur’an) (Allah knows best)
53:32 Those who avoid great sins and the immoralities except the small faults (l-lamama); indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He is most knowing about you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in your mothers’ wombs. So do not ascribe purity to yourselves. He knows best he who fears.
(Masturbation is regarded by many people as a small sin, but that’s not explicitly confirmed in the Qur’an) (The root of “lamama” (small faults) is “Lam-Miim-Miim,” and it means “to gather, collect, amass, assemble, pick up greedily, lesser offenses, unwilled offenses, small faults, inadvertent sins”) (“Personal Qur’an” by Hussein translates it as “come with” or “bring about”) (Allah knows best)
57:27 Then We sent Our Messengers on their footsteps and We followed with Jesus, son of Mary, and We gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy. But the monasticism (warahbaniyyatan) they innovated - We did not prescribe it for them - only seeking the pleasure of Allah, but they did not observe it with right observance. So We gave those who believed among them their reward, but most of them are defiantly disobediently.
(“Monasticism” is interpreted as doing something that was not prescribed, out of fear of God, seeking the pleasure of God. The Verse does not say that it is okay to break their vow of celibacy with masturbation, but it is okay to break it in marriage, because marriage is explicitly allowed. The vow of celibacy was not prescribed but is not a sin, while according to some Verses, masturbation is not a good thing) (The root of “rahbaniyyatan” (monasticism) is “Ra-ha-Ba” and it means “to fear, dread / terrify, to become fatigued / tired / weary; rahibun (pl. ruhban) – monk, monasticism, monkery; tarahhab = he became a rahib (or monk), fearing God, or feared God with reverence or awe; or he devoted himself to religious services or exercises, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
74:5 And avoid uncleanliness (wal-ruj’za),
(The root of “ruj’za” (uncleanliness) is “Ra-Jiim-Zay,” and it means “pollution / filth, calamity, evil kind of punishment, wrath, impurity, plague, scourge, pestilence, abomination, sin, iniquity, idolatry, deed deserving punishment, etc.”) (Allah knows best)
79:35 (The) Day (when) man will remember what he strove (for), 79:36 And the Hellfire will be made manifest to (him) who sees, 79:37 Then as for (him) who transgressed, 79:38 And preferred the life of the world, 79:39 Then indeed, the Hellfire, it is the refuge. 79:40 But as for (him) who feared standing (before) his Lord, and restrained (wanaha) his soul from the desires (l-hawa), 79:41 Then indeed, Paradise - it is the refuge.
(The root of “hawa” (desires) is “ha-Waw-Ya” and it means “desires / fancies, rev, perish, pull down, destroy, disappear, infatuate, yearn, beguile, be blown, inspire with low passion, to fall steep as a bird to its prey.” Another dictionary says that the root “H-W-Y” means “what is between the earth and the sky and that is air and emptiness for the Arabs. Conceptually, it stands for desire because that is associated with air for Arabs. It also can apply to any entity that is not supported by a firm base, including ideas and unsupported biases”) (The root of “naha” (restrained) is “Nun-ha-Waw/Ya” and it means “to prevent, forbid, chide away, prohibit, make one to stop from, restrain, interdict, hinder, desist, refrain”) (Allah knows best)
2:120 And the Jews and the Christians will never be pleased with you until you follow their religion. Say, "Indeed, the Guidance of Allah is the Guidance." And if you follow their desires after what has come to you of the knowledge, you will have neither any protector from Allah nor any helper.
(In Christianity, masturbation is forbidden in Matthew 5:27-30, which says, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If you right eyes causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell”) (Despite the fact that Matthew 5:27-30 might be correct in that you should not masturbate, Muslims are not commanded to self-mutilate. Verse 2:195 says, “let not your own hands throw yourselves into destruction”) (The Bible is corrupted, so it is not a reliable source, because Christians (and Jews) mixed truth with falsehood. Verse 3:71 says, “O People (of) the Book! Why do you mix the truth with the falsehood” So, some matters in the Bible might be correct, and some other matters might not. See the link below “Is the Bible corrupted?”) (Allah knows best)
4:23 Forbidden to you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your father's sisters, and your mother's sisters, and daughters of brothers, and daughters of sisters, and the mothers who nursed you, and your sisters from the nursing, and mothers of your wives, and your step daughters who are under your guardianship of your women you had relations (dakhaltum) with, but if you had not relations with them, then there is no sin on you. And wives of your sons who are from your loins, and that you gather together two sisters, except what has passed before. Indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
(According to Verse 4:22 and 4:24, “forbidden to you…” (4:23) is in the context of marriage, so the women mentioned in Verse 4:23 are forbidden for marriage) (The root of “dakhal” is “Dal-Kha-Lam,” and it means “to enter, got in, passed, to penetrate, insert, etc.”) (Verse 4:23 does not imply that if you did not penetrate women (Those in videos or photos are not physically penetrated either) then “there is no sin on you”; rather, the context is about marriage (4:22-24), and the context is that there is no sin in “marrying” your stepdaughters if you did not have relations with their mothers (those who are “your women”). Your women, in accordance with other Verses, is interpreted as “your wives.” So, if you did not touch your wives (33:49), there is no sin on you in marrying their daughters) (Allah knows best)
9:73 O Prophet, strive (against) the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be stern with them. And their abode (is) Hell, and wretched (is) the destination.
(Being stern with disbelievers and hypocrites does not imply allowing masturbation or fornication/adultery with them (whether the disbeliever is male or female); you cannot pick a meaning that contradicts other Verses. The root of “stern” is “Gh-Lam-Za,” and it means “thick, gross, bulky, coarse, rough, hardness / rigid, strength, stern, vehemence, severe”) (You have to disassociate from the enemies of Allah (9:114) rather than having relations with them. It suggests that you would also disassociate from what they do (pornographic videos, cartoons, etc.)) (Allah knows best)
9:114 And Abraham’s asking of forgiveness for his father was not except because of a promise he had promised it to him. But when it became clear to him that he was an enemy to Allah, he disassociated from him. Indeed, Abraham was compassionate, forbearing.
9:123 O you who believe, fight the disbelievers who are close to you, and let them find harshness (ghil’zatan) in you. And know that Allah is with those who fear.
49:12 O you who believe, avoid much assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy and do not backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, you would hate it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.
33:30 O wives (of) the Prophet, whoever from/(of) you commits (a) clear immorality, for her the punishment will be doubled [two fold]. And that is easy for Allah.
41:17 And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred [the] blindness over [the] guidance, so a thunderbolt (of) humiliating [the] punishment seized them, for what they used to earn.
42:40 The recompense for an evil is an evil like it. But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation, then his reward is on Allah. Indeed, He does not like the wrongdoers.
(The sentence “the recompense for an evil is an evil like it” obviously does not imply that if disbelievers masturbate or rape your women, you should do likewise with their women; on the contrary, the evil like it must be allowed (e.g., self-defense). Notice that the previous (42:39) and the next Verse (42:41) are about self-defense rather than sexual matters, so the context of Verse 42:40 is also about self-defense. The punishment for a rapist might be the same as the punishment for a fornicator (lashes), rather than believers raping a disbeliever as a punishment) (Allah knows best)
3:179 Allah does not leave the believers in what you are until He separates the evil from the good. Nor does Allah inform you about the unseen, but Allah chooses from His Messengers whom He wills, so believe in Allah and His Messengers, and if you believe and fear, then for you is a great reward.
2:221 And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe. And a believing bondwoman is better than a polytheistic woman, even if she pleases you. And do not give in marriage to polytheistic men until they believe, and a believing bondman is better than a polytheistic man, even if he pleases you. They invite to the Fire, and Allah invites to Paradise and forgiveness by His permission. And He makes clear His Verses for people so that they may take heed.
2:194 The sacred month is for the sacred month, and for violations there is legal retribution. Then whoever transgressed (i’tada) against you, then you transgress (fa-i’tadu) against him in the same manner as he transgressed (i’tada) against you. And fear Allah and know that Allah is with those who fear.
(The root of the word “transgress” is “Ayn-Dal-Waw,” and it means “transgress; adwun – wickedly, unjustly, spitefully, wrongfully; aduwatun – enmity; udwan – hostility, injustice, etc.”) (Muslims have to transgress in the same manner as non-Muslims transgressed. Let’s suppose that they raped or masturbated with your women; you cannot do it with their women because you cannot transgress the limits of Allah (2:229), lest you be like them (a non-Muslim). The Verses of the Qur’an are not mutually exclusive but complement each other) (Allah knows best)
5:93 (There is) not/(no) [any] sin on those who believe and do [the] good deeds for what they ate when/(if) they fear and [they] believe and [they] do [the] good deeds, then [they] fear and believe, then [they] fear and do good; and Allah loves the good-doers.
(The context of Verse 5:93 is eating “food” (5:94-95), rather than a license for sexual sins) (Allah knows best)
16:35 And said those who associate partners (with Allah), "If Allah (had) willed, neither we nor our forefathers (would) have worshiped anything other than Him, and nor we (would) have forbidden anything other than Him." Thus did those who (were) before them. Then is (there) on the messengers except the clear conveyance?
(The context of Verse 16:35 is that they worshiped someone other than God, and they forbade something that was not to be forbidden. The Verse does not refer to masturbation) (Allah knows best)
64:14 O you who believe, indeed, from your spouses (azwajikum) and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them. But if you pardon and overlook and forgive, then indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
(“Spouses” and “children” are mentioned together. You cannot have children with anyone other than your spouses) (Allah knows best)
66:12 And Mary, the daughter of 'Imran, who guarded (ahsanat) her chastity (farjaha), so We blew into it of Our Spirit, and she believed in the Words of her Lord and His Books and was of the devoutly obedient.
(The word “guard” used in Verses 23:5 and 24:30 does not have the same root as “guarded” in Verse 66:12, but the word “chastity” used in Verses 23:5 and 24:30 has the same root as the word “chastity” used in Verse 66:12) (“Guarded” in Verse 66:12 might imply that she had not skin-to-skin relations (e.g., guarding private parts from other people.)) (The root of “ahsanat” (guarded) is “Ha-Sad-Nun”, and it means, “to be guarded, be inaccessible / unapproachable, be chaste, be strongly fortified, difficult to access, be preserved, be protected (against attack), abstain from what is not lawful nor decorous, preserve or guard a thing in places inaccessible / unapproachable, make or render a thing inaccessible or unapproachable or difficult to access, make / render a thing unattainable by reason of its height, to fortify oneself”) (Allah knows best)
9:67 The hypocrite men and the hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin the wrong and forbid what is right, and they close their hands. They forget Allah, so He has forgotten them. Indeed, the hypocrites, they are the defiantly disobedient.
(Some people say that the Qur’an and the Sunnah do not explicitly prohibit it, and they do not explicitly allow it, leaving it in a gray area-which, for them, implies that Muslims should neither condemn masturbation nor promote it. They mention the hadith “Muslim 1337,” which they claim favors such an interpretation. An answer to this is that “Muslim 1337” is about Pilgrimage, not masturbation, and a hadith is a secondary source which cannot contradict the Qur’an (it cannot contradict the Verses mentioned in this article, which suggest that you cannot masturbate with anyone other than your spouse).) (The Qur’an was revealed this way for a purpose. Verse 29:11 says, “And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, And He will surely make evident the hypocrites.”) (Some Muslims mention al-Bukhari 5269 in favor of masturbation, but the context is about divorce, not masturbation. Furthermore, a hadith is a secondary source and cannot contradict the clear Verses in the Qur’an about protecting your private parts, and about not “desiring/wishing” (12:23-25, 12:30), etc.) (Allah knows best)
4:43 O you who believe, (do) not go near the prayer while you (are) intoxicated until you know what you are saying and not (when you are) impure, except (when) passing (through) a way, until you have bathed. And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you came from the toilet, or you have touched the women and you (do) not find water, then do tayammum (with) clean earth and wipe (over) your faces and your hands. Indeed, Allah is Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving. … 5:6 O you who believe, when you stand up for the prayer, then wash your faces and your hands till the elbows and wipe your heads and your feet till the ankles. But if you are (in) a state of ceremonial impurity, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or anyone of you has come from the toilet or has (had) contact (with) the women and you (do) not find water, then do tayammum (with) clean earth, then wipe your faces and your hands with it. Allah (does) not intend to make any difficulty for you but He intends to purify you and complete His Favor upon you, so that you may (be) grateful.
(These Verses suggest that you only become impure by touching women-while you do not touch them in masturbation-but notice that going to the toilet is also mentioned, implying that anything that comes out of the body may make you impure (urine, feces, passing gas, sexual fluid, etc.).) (Allah knows best)
33:51 You may defer whom you will of them or you may take to yourself whom you will. And whoever you desire of those (from) whom you (had) set aside - then (there is) no blame upon you. That (is) more suitable that their eyes may be cooled and not they grieve and (that) they may be pleased with what you have given them - all of them. And Allah knows what (is) in your hearts. And Allah is All-Knower, Most Forbearing.
(The context of Verse 33:51 is marriage (33:49-51).) (Allah knows best)
33:53 O you who believe, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when permission is given to you for a meal, without awaiting its preparation. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, then disperse without seeking to remain for a conversation. Indeed, that was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask them for something, then ask them from behind a screen. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not for you that you trouble the Messenger of Allah nor that you should ever marry his wives after him. Indeed, that is an enormity near Allah. ... 33:55 (There is) no blame upon them concerning their fathers and not/(or) their sons and not/(or) their brothers and not/(or) sons (of) their brothers and not/(or) sons (of) their sisters and not/(or) their women and not/(or) what/(whom) they rightfully possess. And fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is a Witness over all things.
(The context and meaning of the word “screen / hijab” is obviously other than watching women on a screen. Actually, the purpose of the screen / hijab is not watching women.) (Allah knows best)
40:79 Allah (is) the One Who made for you the cattle, that you may ride some of them and some of them you eat. 40:80 And for you in them (are) benefits [and] that you may reach/(attain) through them a/(any) need (that is) in your breasts; and upon them and upon the ships you are carried.
(The context mentions “benefits” rather than anything harmful. Therefore, “any need” (40:80) does not imply that you can process raw materials into sinful or unlawful things) (Allah knows best)
40:4 Not/(none) dispute concerning/(in) (the) Verses (of) Allah except those who disbelieve, so (let) not their movement in the cities deceive you.
3:14 Beautified for mankind (is the) love (of) the (things they) desire - of women and sons, and stored up heaps of gold and silver, and branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That (is) provision (of) life (of) the world, but Allah - with Him (is an) excellent abode to return (to). … 3:27 You cause the night to enter the day and You cause the day to enter the night, and You bring forth the living from the dead, and You bring forth the dead from the living, and You give provision to whom You will without measure."
14:34 And He gave you all that you asked of Him. And if you count the Favor of Allah, you will not count them. Indeed, mankind is surely unjust (and) ungrateful.
(You cannot ask for that which is not lawful.) (Allah knows best)
7:116 He said, "Throw." Then when they threw, they bewitched (the) eyes (of) the people, and terrified them, and (they) came (up) with a great magic. … 10:77 Moses said, "Do you say about the truth when it has come to you? Is this magic? But magicians (will) not succeed."
(The root of the word "magic" is not used in the context of woman or sex in the Qur'an. However, that word opposes the “truth” in Verse 10:77, and it has an affect on the eyes (7:116). The videos or photos of cartoons and AI-generated women could be described as “magical” (which is always something negative in the Qur’an), because the root of magic in Arabic is "Siin-Ha-Ra," and it means "To deceive, delude, beguile, or outwit. The producing what is false in the form of truth. Embellishment by falsification and deceit. A kind of enchantment, or fascination which captivates the eye and the like, etc.") (For example, AI-generated videos and photos are something “false in the form of truth" (they are not real woman). Another translation says that the root S-Ha-R means "to make things look other than what they are and that includes deception and magic as well." AI videos / photos and sex dolls are fake, and are meant to look like real women when they are not.) (While the Qur’an uses the word “magic” to describe specific historical and supernatural events, such a word describes what AI-generated humans really are.) (The matter about magic is that the disbelievers call God’s miracles “magic,” so they tried to produce something like it (with magic tricks). Other Verses imply that you cannot follow magic as something true (2:102)) (Regarding the “calf” (gold in the form of a cow), it is not called “magic” in the Qur’an; it is called an invention in Verse 7:152. Verse 20:89 says that the calf “did not possess for them any harm or benefit.” While Verse 2:102 says “they learn what harms them and does not benefit them,” suggesting that they are different matters-because one causes harm while the other does not (in the sense that it does not punish, because the calf is not a deity). In a sexual context, desiring the image of women other than your wives or what you rightfully possess is not supported in the Qur’an.) (Allah knows best)
2:102 And they followed what the devils recited over the kingdom of Solomon. And it was not Solomon who disbelieved, [and] but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was sent down to the two angels in Babylon, Harut and Marut. And they do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are only trial, so do not disbelieve." But they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. And they do not harm anyone with it except by permission of Allah. And they learn what harms them and does not benefit them. And they certainly knew that whoever buys it, would not have in the Hereafter any share. And evil is surely that for which they sold themselves, if they were to know.
(This Verse uses the word “magic,” interpreted as the devils reciting that Solomon made magic (in disbelief), while the matters about Solomon were miraculous / the truth. And they learn breaking marriage, which harms others. Seeking videos or photos of women other than your wife opposes marriage and could also lead to its breakdown.) (Allah knows best)
20:66 He said, "Nay, you throw." Then behold, their ropes and their staffs, by their magic, seemed to him that they were moving.
(Cartoons and AI-generated videos seem as though they are moving too, while they are not.) (Allah knows best)
10:81 Then when they (had) thrown, Moses said, "What you have brought [it] (is) the magic. Indeed, Allah will nullify it. Indeed, Allah (does) not amend the work (of) the corrupters.
21:3 Their hearts distracted. And they conceal the private conversation, those who wronged, "Is this except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you see (it)?"
12:51 He said, "What was your affair when you sought to seduce Joseph?" They said, "Allah forbid, we do not know any evil about him." The wife of Aziz said, "Now the truth is manifest. I sought to seduce him, and indeed, he is surely of the truthful. 12:52 That he may know that I (did) not [I] betray him in secret, and that Allah (does) not guide (the) plan (of) the betrayers." 12:53 "And I (do) not absolve myself. Indeed, the soul (is) a certain enjoiner of evil, unless [that] my Lord bestows Mercy. Indeed, my Lord (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
(Verse 12:51 suggests that seeking to seduce people is something bad. It is interpreted by some that the person speaking in Verses 12:52-53 is the wife of Aziz; if so, it also suggests that what she did is evil, and she is guilty, because she said that she does not absolve herself. In addition, notice that Verse 12:52 says, “I (did) not betray him in secret,” as if she is the wife of Aziz speaking, because at the end she did not have a sexual relation with Yusuf.) (But some scholars say that Yusuf is the one speaking. In both Verses, it says phrases mentioning God. But it does not prove that it is Yusuf speaking, because she might believe in God and repent to God for what she did. The women also mention God (12:51), so it was not exclusive to Yusuf; others mentioned Him too.) (Allah knows best)
25:43 Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be a guardian over him?
(Following your desires instead of following God’s Commands may imply polytheism (25:43))(Allah knows best)
45:23 Have you seen (he) who takes his desire as his god, and Allah knowingly lets him go astray, and sets a seal upon his hearing and his heart and puts over his vision a veil? Then who will guide him after Allah? Then will you not receive admonition?
13:15 And to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and (so do) their shadows in the mornings and in the afternoons.
(Stones will go to hell (66:6). It is interpreted that dolls and sexual objects are not made for being preserved in Paradise, or made for you in Paradise, but real women are (37:48).) (Allah knows best)
17:81 And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood perished. Indeed, the falsehood is (bound) to perish."
(Dolls’ fate would be destruction, because falsehood is bound to perish (17:81). Disbelievers may have the same fate. In Hell they do not live nor die (like an object that exist but does not live).) (If you take wrongdoing people as allies, you become like them (5:51)) (Man was created for worshiping God, while dolls were created by people according to their desires and sins. Some people marry their sex doll. Sex dolls cannot willingly marry, cannot receive dowry, etc.) (Verse 16:72 says, “And Allah (has) made for you spouses from yourselves, and has made for you from your spouses sons and grandsons ... Then do they believe in falsehood and [they] disbelieve (in) the Favor of Allah?”) (Allah knows best)
21:98 Indeed, you and what you worship besides Allah are the firewood of Hell. You will come to it.
22:3 And among mankind is he who disputes concerning Allah without knowledge and follows every rebellious devil.
16:72 And Allah (has) made for you spouses from yourselves, and has made for you from your spouses sons and grandsons and has provided for you from the good things. Then do they believe in falsehood and [they] disbelieve (in) the Favor of Allah?
2:185 The month of Ramadhan is that in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever witnesses among you the month, then he should fast in it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then the prescribed number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and that you complete the period and to magnify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and that you may be grateful.
(Verse 2:185 says, “Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship.” The context is about completing the fasting period.)(Allah knows best)
22:78 And strive for Allah with the striving which is due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you any difficulty in the religion. The religion of your father Abraham. He named you Muslims before, and in this, that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over mankind. So establish prayer and give zakah (charity) and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protector - so an Excellent Protector and an Excellent Helper.
(The context of Verse 22:78 using the plural ‘you’ is that no difficulty in the religion was placed upon Muslims. However, difficulty is experienced by those who masturbate and are trying to quit. The Verse does not imply that a prohibition against masturbation would never be revealed just to avoid difficulty in the religion; rather, the wrongdoers bring this difficult upon themselves. Verse 9:70 states, “Allah was not to wrong them but they were doing wrong to themselves.”) (Allah knows best)
33:35 Indeed, the Muslim men and the Muslim women, and the believing men and the believing women, and the obedient men and the obedient women, and the truthful men and the truthful women, and the patient men and the patient women, and the humble men and the humble women, and the men who give charity and the women who give charity, and the men who fast and the women who fast, and the men who guard their chastity and the women who guard (it), and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember - Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward.
60:12 O Prophet, when the believing women come to you pledging to you [on] that they will not associate anything with Allah, and not/(nor) will they steal, and not/(nor) will they commit adultery (yaznina), and not/(nor) will they kill their children, and not/(nor will) they bring (forth) slander they invent [it] between their hands and their feet, and not/(nor) will they disobey you in (the/what is) right, then accept their pledge and ask forgiveness for them (from) Allah. Indeed, Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
2:177 It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards the east and the west but righteous is he who believes in Allah , the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, and the Prophets and gives wealth in spite of love for it to the near relatives, the orphans, the needy, the wayfarer, and those who ask, and in freeing the necks (slaves); and (who) establish prayer and give zakah and those who fulfill their covenant when they make it; and those who are patient in suffering, hardship, and periods of stress. Those are the ones who are true and it is those who are the righteous.
(Those struggling with an addiction to masturbation are experiencing hardship. Verse 2:177 says, “and those who are patient in suffering, hardship, and periods of stress. Those are the ones who are true and it is those who are the righteous.” And Verse 2:185 says, “Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and that you complete the period.”) (Allah knows best)
5:101 O you who believe, do not ask about things, if they are made clear to you, it may distress you. And if you ask about it when the Qur’an is being revealed, it would be made clear to you. Allah has pardoned it, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, All-Forbearing.
(This Verse does not imply that masturbation was left out of explicit prohibition just to avoid causing distress-as if the rules of conduct weren’t made clear to people. On the contrary, the Verse states that “when the Qur’an is being revealed, it would be made clear to you.” In reality, it is already clear that seeking sexual gratification with anyone other than your wife is wrong.) (Allah knows best)
20:2 We (have) not sent down to you the Qur’an that you be distressed
