Is the Bible corrupted?

Is the Bible corrupted?

2:79 So woe to those who write the book with their hands, then they say, "This is from Allah," to exchange it for a little price. So woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.

(A comparison between the oldest New Testament (Codex Sinaiticus) and the current New Testament (King James Version) shows that the Bible has been corrupted. According to the article “What’s missing from Codex Sinaiticus, the Oldest New Testament?”, by the “Biblical Archaeology Society Staff”, Mark 16:9-20 is not present in Codex Sinaiticus; there are many differences in Matthew 6:9-13; John 8:3-11 is completely absent in Codex Sinaiticus; Codex Sinaiticus omits a sentence in Luke 24:51, and omits the sentence “the son of God” in Mark 1:1 (this omission in Mark 1:1 is very significant, because it implies that there was an intention of making people wrongly think that Jesus was the son of God, while it is a blasphemous title). So, Mark 1:1 just says, “The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”; Luke 9:55-56 is not present in Codex Sinaiticus; Mark 1:41 says, “And Jesus, moved with compassion” in the King James Version, while it says, “Jesus, angry” in Codex Sinaiticus (according to the author/s of the article, “alterations perhaps due to later theological beliefs”); Matthew 24:36 says, “but my father only”, while Codex Sinaiticus says, “neither the son, but the father only”; so the corrupters omitted this distinction (between the father and the son), because they wrongly want people to believe that Jesus is God, and they also used “my father” instead of “the father” in the Codex, to make people think that Jesus is the son of God)(Allah knows best)

2:75 Do you hope that they will believe you while indeed a party of them (used to) hear the words of Allah, then they distort it after they understood it, while they know?

(Some Christians argue that the Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus were the first “complete” Bibles, so that the missing verses or words are contained in other sources, but it is not true: for example, the story of the woman caught in adultery in John 7:53-8:11 is not found in Papyrus 66 and Papyrus 75 (late 100s or early 200s), nor in Codex Sinaiticus and Vaticanus (early/mid 300s); but it is found for the first time in a much later manuscript: in Codex Bezae (400s or 500s). Codex Bezae was made in Europe (Italy, France), so the story could have been invented in Europe by Europeans. They could have invented that story in order to abolish stoning, while stoning is supported in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 21:18-21 and Leviticus 24:16), and is implicitly supported in the New Testament, because according to Matthew 5:17, Jesus confirmed the Law: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them”; according to James 2:14-26 “faith without works is dead”; according to Matthew 23:2-3 “the teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.”; according to Acts 15:5 and 15:20, early Christians followed the Law)(Other verses in the sense of violence in the New Testament: according to Matthew 10:34, Jesus said “do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword”; according to Luke 22:36, Jesus said “And if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one”; according to Luke 14:26, Jesus said “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple”; according to Luke 19:27, Jesus told a violent parable “but those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me”)(Allah knows best)

3:78 And indeed, among them is surely a group - they distort their tongues in the Book so that you may think it is from the Book, but it is not from the Book. And they say, "This is from Allah." but it is not from Allah. And they say the lie about Allah while they know.

(Another point is that Christians did not translate the word “Barabbas” and omitted the word “Jesus” in Matthew 27:17. Why so? The Aramaic name “Barabbas” literally means “son of the father”. Ancient manuscripts of Matthew 27:16-17 have the name “Jesus Barabbas”, instead of just “Barabbas” (See the translations that are more faithful to those ancient manuscripts: “New International Version” or “Contemporary English Version”, or “Good News Translation”, or “Net Bible”). So, according to the Bible, Pilate, the governor of Judea, asked the crowd which prisoner was to be released “Jesus son of the father (Barabbas), or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” (Matthew 27:17). So, the conclusion is that the New Testament explicitly says that there were two characters bearing the same name (Jesus). It seems that the Christians mixed stories of the two characters; Jesus Barabbas blasphemed by bearing such a name, “the son of father (referring to God)”, because God is One and He does not beget; on the other hand, Jesus the Messiah never said that he was the son of God, because the words “Barabbas / son of the father” and “Messiah / son of Mary” are used to distinguish one Jesus from the other)(Allah knows best)

4:172 Never would the Messiah disdain to be a slave of Allah nor the Angels near. And whoever disdains His worship and is arrogant, then He will gather them towards Him all together.

(Another point is that someone who claims to be the “king of the Jews”, he is going to have to lead the rebellion against Rome. Jesus Barabbas is the one who rebelled against Rome. The punishment for rebellion is crucifixion; so Jesus Barabbas was crucified, not Jesus the Messiah. A proof that Jesus Barabbas was the “king of the Jews”, while “Jesus the Messiah” had not such a title, is that Matthew 2:1-2 say that Jesus, “the king of the Jews”, was born in Bethlehem in Judea, while the earliest Gospel says that Jesus came from Nazareth, so the two accounts are contradictory, but, in fact, they are two different persons bearing the same name (Jesus); so, one Jesus was born in Bethlehem, and another Jesus was born in Nazareth. The Qur’an confirms that Jesus the Messiah is from Nazareth, because the word “Christian” is literally translated as “Nazarene” (e.g. follower/s of the Nazarene). Matthew 2:2 says, “and asked, where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?”. So, Matthew 2:1-2 explicitly say that the one who was born in Bethlehem is the king of the Jews, rather than the one who was born in Nazareth)(According to Matthew 27:11, the governor asked the one who was to be crucified: “are you the king of the Jews? You have said so, Jesus replied”. So, according to the context (Matthew 27:11-13), despite Jews wanted to crucify the Messiah, they took “the King of the Jews” instead, (the one from Bethlehem); Matthew 27:37 confirms that: “above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is Jesus, the king of the Jews”. On the other hand, “Acts 3:6, 4:10, 10:38” confirm that “Jesus of Nazareth” is the Messiah (aka anointed one), rather than the one from Bethlehem)(The “Jesus” who uses the term “father” (e.g. “my father”), in Matthew, he is Jesus Barabbas (aka “Jesus son of the father”))(Allah knows best)

4:46 Among the Jews are those who distort words from their places and they say, "We hear and disobey" and "Hear but be not heard” and "Raina", twisting their tongues and defaming the religion. And if they had said, "We hear and obey" and "Hear and look at us”, it would surely have been better for them and more suitable. [And] but Allah cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few.

(In addition, according to Dr. Shabir Ally, “when we compare the gospels one to another we can see how the stories about Jesus were changed to reflect a higher view of Jesus”, “when we compare Mark to Matthew, we can see how the later gospel changed individual reports to raise the view of Jesus in the following ways: on the occasion when Jesus was transfigured, in Mark 9:5, Peter called him “Rabbi”; in Matthew 17:4, Peter called him “Lord.”; when Jesus directed his disciples to wait and watch for his imminent return, in Mark 13:35, Jesus called himself “the master of the house”; in Matthew 24:42, he called himself “your Lord”; at a place called Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked Peter who he thought Jesus was. In Mark 8:27-29, Peter replied: “You are the Messiah.” But in Matthew 16:13-16, Peter replied: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.” Matthew has added the title “the Son of the Living God.”; when Jesus’s mother and siblings came looking for him, in Mark he said: “Whoever does the will of God is my mother and brother and sister”. But in Matthew, he said: “Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my mother and brother and sister.” In Mark 3:35, he called God God. But, in Matthew 12:50, he called God his father; while Jesus was asleep in a boat a storm rocked the boat. In Mark 4:38, the disciples awoke Jesus with this mild rebuke: “Teacher, do you not care if we drown?”. But in Matthew 8:25, they pray to him: “Lord, save us! We are perishing.”. The rebuke was changed to a prayer. The difference is further pronounced as we go from Mark, the first gospel, to John, the last gospel. The image of Jesus in John is much larger than in Mark. Here Jesus takes on cosmic dimensions. In John’s gospel Jesus makes the most significant and far-reaching claims about himself. There are many statements in this Gospel where Jesus asserts his own identity. He says: “I am the light of the world”, “I am the resurrection and the life”, “I am the way, the truth, and the life”, “I and the Father are one”, “whoever has seen me has seen the Father”. If Jesus had said these things, the other gospels would have surely recorded them. But they did not, because he did not say these things. John recorded them because this was part of the later evolved story about Jesus. According to Dr. Shabir Ally, later Christians would focus more on the Gospel of John, and less on the Gospel of Mark. It is often the Gospel of John that is quoted as proof of Jesus’s divine sonship. Although Mark also calls Jesus the son of God, the title here can be understood as meaning a righteous servant. But, in John 3:16, Jesus is the “only-begotten son”)(According to Dr. Shabir Ally, the manner in which Jesus approaches death has also been reworked in John. In Mark, Jesus begs God to save him from the cross, though he submits to God’s decision. In John 12:27, Jesus declares that he will not pray to be saved. On the contrary, he asks God to go ahead according to plan. Jesus, in John, obviously came to die for the sins of the world. Hence he declares that no one can take his life away from him since he has authority to lay down his own life and take it up again (John 10:18). Jesus declared in John that no one can take his life from him. Since he gives it up of his own accord, even the scene of his arrest has been modified to reflect this. In Mark, Judas the betrayer had arranged to mark Jesus out with a kiss. But, in John, Judas dares not draw close to Jesus. Unless Jesus gives himself up he cannot be arrested (John 18:3-12). We can, in this way, multiply the examples of how one after another the gospels went about modifying the image of Jesus for later readers. The writers did not intend for us to make these comparisons. Each gospel was initially circulated independently. Eventually, however, they were collected together and passed down to us in a single book, the Holy Bible. Today in studying the gospels we can notice the trend to represent him as Lord and Savior. To find the real historical Jesus we have to retrace the trend from John back to Mark. But how about beyond Mark? When we compare Mark with the later gospels we notice the modifications in the later ones. If we could compare Mark with its predecessors, we would find that Mark has also modified his story)(Source: Dr. Shabir Ally)(Allah knows best)

3:71 O People (of) the Book! Why do you mix the truth with the falsehood and conceal the truth while you know?

6:82 Those who believed and did not mix their belief with wrong, those, for them, is the security, and they are rightly guided.

5:15 O People of the Book, surely there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. Surely there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book.

29:46 And do not argue with the People of the Book except by which is best, except those who do wrong among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and to you. And our God and your God is One, and we submit to Him."

(Muslims believe in the Torah and the Gospel, but also in the Qur’an. The Qur’an confirms the Torah and the Gospel (3:3), and it is a Criterion over it (3:4). So, that which exceeds or contradicts the Qur’an is not valid or man-made)(Verse 4:14 says, “whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits - He will admit him into the Fire”)(Allah knows best)

12:111 Verily, in their stories is a lesson for men of understanding. It is not an invented narration, but a confirmation of that which was before it and a detailed explanation of all things, and a guidance and mercy for a people who believe.

(The Qur’an is not implicitly or explicitly saying that the Bible is not corrupted, by saying, for example, that the Qur’an is “a confirmation of that which was before it”. But, the Qur’an confirms the Bible in that which “God revealed in it” (5:47); so the Qur’an does not confirm any man-made addition, substraction, innovation, omission, or so)(Obviously, “confirmation” implies that the Qur’an is confirming that which the Qur’an Itself mentions, rather than that which does not mention (aka “that which is not confirming”))(Verse 12:111 says that the Qur’an explains “all things”, but “a detailed explanation of all things” only refers to that in which people differed (e.g. Jews and Christians)(16:64). Verse 12:111 does not say that “everything” in the Bible is correct, but it is obvious that Jews and Christians needed an explanation because they differ among each other. Verse 16:64 says, “We have not revealed to you the Book EXCEPT that you make clear to them that in which they differed, and as a guidance and mercy”, so Verses 16:64 and 12:111 complement each other: “detailed explanation of all things” in Verse 12:111 correspond to “make clear to them that in which they differed” in Verse 16:64, because the two Verses (16:64, 12:111) are similar or equivalent, so the two sentences correspond to each other. In conclusion, Verses 16:64 and 12:111 are in fact proving that the sentence “a detailed explanation of all things” (12:111) is not “in general”, but is actually specific)(In conclusion, “conforming” refers to that which is mentioned in the Qur’an, which is similarly or equally mentioned in the Bible, while “explaining” refers to that in which they differ (e.g. differing from that which is correct; contradictions among themselves,...))(Allah knows best)

16:64 And We have not revealed to you the Book except that you make clear to them that in which they differed, and as a guidance and mercy for a people who believe.

(For example, people at the time of Jesus, was in doubt about Jesus being killed and crucified, so it is not a new matter invented by Muslims; Verse 4:157 says, “indeed, those who differ in it are surely in doubt about it”; the Qur’an makes clear to people that in which they differed (16:64). This point was registered by the Bible itself; 1 Corinthians 1:23 says, “but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,”; so both the Jews and Gentiles did not believe in Christ crucified at the time of Paul. Galactians 1:11-12 say, “I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. I did not receive it from any human, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ”. It refers to the account in Acts, where he reported having experienced a vision of the resurrected Jesus; so he didn’t even meet Jesus, but it was a fabricated dream. Galatians 1:20 says, “I assure you before God that what I am writing you is not a lie”. So they were in doubt about it, and he tried to convince them. Colossians 1:25-6 says, “I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness- the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people.”; so, Paul proclaimed himself an authority, and he even tells indirectly in Colossians that he was born in a much later generation than the time of Jesus, so it confirms that he never met Jesus; notice that the sentence says, the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations”. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:22, “Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom”; so Jesus came with signs, but Paul was not a messenger, he had no authority, nor did he come with signs)(See also the article below, “Jesus vs. Paul”)(Allah knows best)

5:47 And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed in it. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, then those are the defiantly disobedient. 5:48 And We have revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming the Book that came before it and as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires when the truth has come to you. For each of you We have made a law and a clear way. And if Allah had willed, He would have made you one community [and] but to test you in what He has given you; so race to good. To Allah you will all return, then He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.

(Christians might object that the Gospel is not corrupted, based on Verse 5:47 of the Qur’an, which says, “let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed in it”. But, according to this Verse, the people of the Gospel are let judge “by what Allah has revealed” in the Gospel, not by what Allah has not revealed. In addition, notice that the next Verse says about the Qur’an: “confirming the Book that came before it and as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires” (5:48). So, according to the context, a Christian can judge by what God has revealed in the Gospel, but, using the Qur’an, to know what is true in there, because the Verse also implies that the Qur’an is a guardian over the Bible (5:48). And Verse 5:48 uses the word “confirming”, which implies that the Qur’an only validates in the Bible that which the Qur’an Itself mentions, and is similarly or equally mentioned in the Bible)(In Verse 3:4, the Qur’an is called “Criterion”, it implies that it is used to know what is true)(And Verse 5:48 also says, “For each of you We have made a law and a clear way. And if Allah had willed, He would have made you one community [and] but to test you in what He has given you; so race to good”. One interpretation is that “for each of you” is not addressed to different parties or religions, because only “Islam” (aka Submission (to God)) is accepted (3:85); and those who deny the Verses of the Qur’an are disbelievers (84:22, 2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70). So Verse 5:48 is in fact speaking about that same law and way for each person in the world, and you must race upon that path. The root of “kullin” (each) is “Kaf-Lam-Lam”, and it means “the parts put together. This is the concrete and it means all or every or each”. So according to the definition, “each of you” refers to the whole (all) mankind, so it is the same law and clear way for everybody. Other communities are disbelievers if they disbelieve in the Verses of the Qur’an (29:47). Ways other than Islam do not lead to Paradise; this is confirmed by Verse 3:85 “and whoever seeks other than Islam as religion – then never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be from the losers”)(And the sentence, “to test you in what He has given you” (5:48), implies that if you judge according to all the Scriptures, and you use the Qur’an as a Criterion, you should end up following other than their vain desires (5:48). These sentences are not confirming their vain desires, or religions other than Islam (aka Submission (to God)), but Jews and Christians do not follow the correct religion anymore. And Verse 5:49 says, “that you judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires and beware of them lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you”. So, according to the context, the Qur’an is the Criterion to know what is true; Verse 5:49 confirms that other than that is “their vain desires”, so these Verses do not confirm Judaism and Christianity. If all ways were ok, the Prophet would have not been warned about it, and other people’s way would have not been called “their vain desires” (5:49). Verse 5:49 also says, “know that Allah only intends to afflict them for some of their sins”, so they are not to be rewarded for a way other than Islam)(God didn’t give Jews and Christians a way or Scripture in order to go to hell, but Jews and Christians did it to themselves (“They distort words from their places, and forgot a part of what they were reminded of” (5:13). They also have the Qur’an, in order to follow it and be saved)(It also has to be considered that Jesus did not write the Gospel but is anonymous and was written in Greek instead of Aramaic (the language of Jesus), and the oldest and current “Bibles” differ, so it is not a reliable source)(Allah knows best)

23:71 But if the truth (had) followed their desires, surely, the heavens and the earth and whoever (is) therein (would) have been corrupted. Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they (are) turning away from their reminder.

(According to Verse 23:71, following desires implies corruption. The Qur’an mentions Jews and Christians’ desires (2:120), so it implicitly suggests that they have been corrupted)(Allah knows best)

17:4 And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Book, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach great haughtiness."

(Verses 17:2 and 17:4 mention “the Book”. The Verse might implicitly suggest that the two corruptions refer to the Bible (Bible means “Books”, but it is a single Book))(It is interpreted that some of the Old Testament might be corrupted and they distort words from their context (e.g. in order to deny Jesus as the Messiah, or inventing that Palestine is for themselves, or disbelieving in Hell, etc.). And the second corruption is the New Testament: Christianity became a Jewish sect, and over time they wrongly made people think that Jesus was God and the son of God, they invented the false concept of trinity, and the false concept of salvation obtained by grace through Faith alone, without works, etc.)(Allah knows best)

3:3 He revealed to you the Book in truth which confirms that which was before it and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel. 3:4 Before (this), as guidance for mankind. And (He) revealed the Criterion. Verily, those who disbelieved in the Verses of Allah, for them is a severe punishment. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Able of retribution.

(The Qur’an is a Criterion to know what is true)(Allah knows best)

3:7 He is the One Who revealed to you the Book, in it are Verses which are absolutely clear - they are the foundation of the Book, and others are allegorical. Then as for those in whose hearts is perversity - [so] they follow what is allegorical of it, seeking discord and seeking its interpretation. And none except Allah knows its interpretation. And those who are firm in knowledge, they say, "We believe in it. All is from our Lord." And not will take heed except men of understanding.

(According to Verse 3:7, people has to follow the clear verses, not the allegorical ones. There are many allegories / parables in the Gospel. Many Christians follow parables or allegories (e.g. Mark 7:15-20 in regard to food), instead of the clear verses in the Bible (e.g. pig meat is forbidden in Deuteronomy 14:8, Leviticus 11:7-8, Isaiah 66:17, Isaiah 65:2-4)(The same food is prohibited in the Bible and in the Qur’an, so, in that matter, the Qur’an confirms the Bible). Matthew 13:13 and Luke 8:10 confirm that the purpose of the parables is that they may not understand. That’s because Jesus was only sent to the Children of Israel. This is supported by Matthew 15:24, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel”. According to Matthew 13:34 “Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable”. On the other hand, according to Mark 4:34, Jesus explained everything in private to the (Jewish) disciples, and according to John 18:20, Jesus said nothing in secret in synagogues or at the temple (Jewish places), and according to Matthew 13:36, Jesus explained a parable in private to the (Jewish) disciples. So, one interpretation is that the parables were addressed to non-Jews so that they may not understand, while Jesus was sent to the Children of Israel (61:14, 43:59, 3:47-50, 5:72, 61:6). Jesus came to the Children of Israel with clear evidences (61:6); in regard to the Gospel,in it (was) Guidance and light” (5:46), rather than being unclear and confusing)(Allah knows best)

2:183 O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, so that you may become righteous.

(A matter that was and is prescribed, so the Qur’an confirms it)(Allah knows best)

5:43 But how can they appoint you a judge while they have with them the Torah, wherein is the Command of Allah , then they turn away after that? And those are not believers. 5:44 Indeed, We revealed the Torah wherein was Guidance and light. The Prophets who submitted judged by it for the Jews, as did the Rabbis and the scholars as they were entrusted with the Book of Allah and they were witnesses to it. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not sell My Verses for a little price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, then those are the disbelievers.

(Verse 5:43 is speaking about disbelievers, who are hypocrites because they don’t believe or follow the Command of Allah in the Torah, then how can they appoint Muhammad a judge, while Muhammad is in fact following the Command of Allah?)(People have to judge by what God has revealed (5:44), whether the Gospel or the Torah; but in order to know what God revealed, you have to use the Qur’an as a Criterion (25:1) to know what is true in the Bible)(Verse 5:44 says, “the Prophets who submitted”; in that regard, “Muslim” means “one who submits (to God)”, so Jews and Christians have to follow the Qur’an in order to submit (aka be Muslims), because those who reject the Qur’an are disbelievers, not submitters (29:47, 84:22, 2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70))(See the article below “Does the Qur'an replace the Bible?”)(Allah knows best)

5:42 Listeners of falsehood, devourers of the forbidden. So if they come to you, then judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them, then they will never harm you in anything. And if you judge, then judge between them with justice. Indeed, Allah loves those who are just.

(Verse 5:42, which is previous to the one commented before (5:43), confirms that the Messenger can judge between them)(Allah knows best)

6:114 "Then is it other than Allah I should seek as judge, while He is the One Who has revealed to you the Book explained in detail?" And those to whom We gave the Book know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so do not be among the doubters.

7:157 Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel. He commands them to the right and forbids them from the wrong, and he makes lawful for them the pure things and makes unlawful for them the impure things and he relieves them of their burden and the fetters which were upon them. So those who believe in him, and honor him, and help him and follow the light, which has been sent down with him, those are the successful ones." 7:158 Say, "O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all, to Whom is the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no god except Him, He gives life and causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, who believes in Allah and His Words, and follow him so that you may be guided."

(The original Torah and Gospel mention the Prophet Muhammad. If Muhammad were not mentioned in the current Torah and Gospel, then the Torah and Gospel would be corrupted. One interpretation of Verse 7:157 is that the Qur’an restores the Torah and the Gospel, by mentioning Jesus’ and Abraham’s words about Muhammad in the Qur’an (61:6 and 2:127-129). This interpretation is confirmed by the context of Verse 7:157, which only refers to “those who follow the Messenger”, because they are the ones who believe and follow the Qur’an, and find the Messenger written, while the people of the Book (aka Bible) do not believe in the Qur’an, so they think that Muhammad is/was not written in the Torah and the Gospel)(This interpretation could also be supported by verse 5:48, “We have revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming the Book that came before it and as a guardian over it”. So, the Torah and the Gospel are guarded / preserved through the Qur’an)(Another interpretation is that the current Torah and Gospel indeed speak about Muhammad, because it is said that he is mentioned in Deuteronomy 8:15-19, Matthew 21:33-46, John 1:19-25; 14:15-17, 25-30; 15:25-6; 6:7-15. See the article below: “Is Muhammad mentioned in the Bible?”)(Another point is that the sentence “Gospel according to John / Matthew / Mark / Luke” implies that it is not the original, because God revealed the Gospel (3:3), while “the Gospel according to (people)” is a human testimony, so the Qur’an refers to the Gospel revealed by God, so it does not refer to a man-made gospel, or a gospel according to people)(The Bible is not a reliable source, because it is said that Jesus did not write the current Gospel but is anonymous and was written in Greek instead of Aramaic (the language of Jesus), so the words were to be restored in the Qur’an)(Another point is that Verse 7:157 says that he relieves people of their burden and fetters; in this regard, the law was more severe for the Jews because of their wrongdoing, for example, it was more severe in the matter of the Sabbath (16:124), so the Qur’an relieves them. See the link below: “How the Qur’an corrects Judaism?”)(Allah knows best)

61:6 And when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This is obvious magic."

2:127 And when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and Ishmael, "Our Lord, accept from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. 2:128 Our Lord, and make us Muslims (submissive) to You and from our descendants a Muslim community (submissive) to You. And show us our rites and turn to us. Indeed, You are the Oft-Returning, the Most Merciful. 2:129 Our Lord, raise up in them a Messenger, who will recite to them Your Verses and will teach the Book and the wisdom and purify them. Indeed, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."

(It is said that the Torah had multiple authors and that its composition took place over centuries, and the Talmud (aka Rabbis’ conjectures on the Torah) says that Moses wrote the Torah, but Deuteronomy mentions Moses’ death and burial, so he could have not written it; so, it is not a reliable source. So one interpretation is that this Verse in the Qur’an restores when Abraham referred to Muhammad. This is confirmed by Verse 5:48, “We have revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming the Book that came before it and as a guardian over it”. So, the Torah is guarded through the Qur’an)(But, another interpretation is that Muhammad is mentioned in Deuteronomy 8:15-19)(Allah knows best)

11:110 And verily We gave Musa/(Moses) the Book, but differences arose therein (fihi). And [if] (were it) not (for) a Word (that) preceded from your Lord, (it) would have surely been judged between them. And indeed, they (are) surely in suspicious doubt concerning it.

(Verse 11:110 explicitly says about the Book given to Moses, “differences arose therein/in it”)(Allah knows best)

16:124 The Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed in it. And indeed, your Lord will surely judge between them on the Day of Resurrection in that over which they used to differ.

(The law was more severe for those who did wrong. Verse 7:157 says that Muhammad relieves of their burden and the fetters)(The Qur’an confirms that the Sabbath was appointed for them)(See the article below, “Do Muslims observe the Sabbath?”)(Allah knows best)

4:160 Then for the wrongdoing of those who were Jews, We made unlawful for them good things which had been lawful for them, and for their hindering many from the way of Allah.

57:27 Then We sent Our Messengers on their footsteps and We followed with Jesus, son of Mary, and We gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy. But the monasticism they innovated - We did not prescribe it for them - only seeking the pleasure of Allah, but they did not observe it with right observance. So We gave those who believed among them their reward, but most of them are defiantly disobediently.

(Christians innovated monasticism, but they could be rewarded, as long as they are believers (e.g. trinitarian Christians are disbelievers (5:17))(The Qur’an does not confirm innovations like monasticism)(Allah knows best)

33:5 Call them by their fathers; it is more just near Allah. But if you do not know their fathers - then they are your brothers in religion and your friends. But there is no blame upon you if you made a mistake therein, but what your hearts intended. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

4:171 O People of the Book, do not commit excess in your religion and do not say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Glory be to Him, that He (should) have a son for Him. To Him whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

(The word “trinity” is not mentioned in the Bible)(Christians invent concepts that are not in the Bible. In regard to Paul, it is said that he invented that Jesus’ sacrifice redeemed people or that Jesus died for your sins, but it contradicts the Torah, Gospel and the Qur’an, and Paul contradicts himself (Galatians 6:2 vs. Galatians 6:5). He also invented that people do not have to follow the Law, while Jesus confirmed it and followed it, and early Christians practiced it (e.g. Acts 15:5 and 15:20). It is also said that Paul was trinitarian; trinitarians are disbelievers (5:72-73, 5:17). Paul persecuted early Christians, who followed the Law, and Paul as a “Christian” opposed the religion, by his fabrications. His writings were wrongly added to the New Testament. So, in the case of Paul, his books could be wrong from the beginning rather than (or besides) a matter of being corrupted over time)(God does not guide the wrongdoing people (46:10))(Paul also blasphemed in 1 Corinthians 1:25, saying “foolishness” and “weakness”. There is no any foolishness or weakness in God, (Glory be to Allah above what they attribute), but God is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise (14:4). See the article below “Jesus vs. Paul”)(Allah knows best)

5:13 So for their breaking of their covenant We cursed them and We made their hearts hard. They distort words from their places, and forgot a part of what they were reminded of. And you will not cease to discover treachery from them except a few of them. But forgive them and overlook. Indeed, Allah loves the good-doers. 5:14 And from those who said, Indeed we are Christians," We took their covenant; but they forgot a part of what they were reminded of. So We aroused enmity and hatred between them until the Day of Resurrection. And soon Allah will inform them of what they used to do.

(Both Jews and Christians forgot a part of what they were reminded. For example, Jews do not believe in Hell, but some verses about “hell” remained in their scripture, according to Daniel 12:2, “multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt”, Psalm 145:20 says, “The Lord preserves all who love him, but all the wicked He will destroy”; Psalm 78:65-66, says “then the Lord awoke as from sleep, as a warrior wakes from the stupor of wine. He beat back his enemies; he put them to everlasting shame”)(People should not follow a religion with man-made adds and deletes or omissions (Jews and Christians forgot a part of what they were reminded of (5:14)). On the other hand, Islam is God’s religion, and it is completed and perfected (5:3))(See the link below, “Does Hell exist?”)(Allah knows best)

6:91 And they did not appraise Allah with His true appraisal, when they said, "Allah did not reveal to a human being anything." Say, "Who revealed the Book which Moses brought as light and guidance for the people? You make it into parchments, disclosing and concealing much. And you were taught that which you did not know – neither you nor your forefathers." Say, "Allah." Then leave them to play in their discourse.

2:120 And the Jews and the Christians will never be pleased with you until you follow their religion. Say, "Indeed, the Guidance of Allah is the Guidance." And if you follow their desires after what has come to you of the knowledge, you will have neither any protector from Allah nor any helper.

(According to this Verse, Jews and Christians do not follow the correct religion anymore, but they follow their desires, instead of obeying God)(Allah knows best)

2:135 And they said, "Be Jews or Christians, then you will be guided." Say, "Nay, the religion of Abraham, the upright; and he was not of those who associated partners."

(This Verse confirms that there are Jews and Christians who no longer follow the correct religion, and they are required to follow Islam / Submission (to God). Muslims follow the religion of Abraham (16:123), so it is not a new religion. And according to Verse 12:38, Yusuf/Joseph (from the Children of Israel) followed the religion of Abraham as well. So, in regard to religion, he was not Jew, but Muslim (aka “Submitted (to God)”))(Jews or Christians might differ from the religion of Abraham in what they concealed of the Book (6:91, 2:143), and in what they forgot (5:13), and in what they were burdened for their wrongdoing (16:124, 4:160), and in what they innovated (57:27), and in following their desires (2:120, 5:48), and in committing excess in their religion (4:171), etc.)(Allah knows best)

5:68 Say, "O People of the Book, you are not on anything until you stand firmly by the Torah and the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in rebellion and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people. 5:69 Indeed, those who believed and those who are Jews and the Sabians and the Christians, whoever believed in Allah and the Last Day and did good deeds, then no fear on them, nor will they grieve.

(Jews and Christians are required to follow the Qur’an (“what has been revealed to you from your Lord” (5:68)))(Once the Qur’an was revealed to people, they must believe in the Qu’ran, so they would use it as a Criterion over previous Scriptures (3:3-4))(Verse 5:69 specifies “those who believed”, so Verse 5:69 could refer, for example, to early Christians who were not trinitarians, and the early people who did not read or receive the Qur’an, and those who believed in God, the Last Day and did good deeds (5:69). It does not refer to those who reject the Qur’an, because those who reject the Verses of the Qur’an are disbelievers (29:47, 84:22, 2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70))(Allah knows best)

50:38 And certainly, We created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between both of them in six periods, and fatigue did not touch Us.

(God does not get tired or need rest. So, the word “Sabbath” used as “rested” in Exodus 31:17 and Genesis 2:2 is either a mistranslation, or misinterpretation, or corruption of the Scripture. And also “was refreshed” in Exodus 31:17 is wrong. (Glory be to Allah above what they attribute))(Allah knows best)

9:30 And the Jews said, "Uzair is son of Allah." And the Christians said, "Messiah is son of Allah." That is their saying with their mouths, they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before. (May) Allah destroy them. How deluded are they.

(The Jewish/Christian concept “son of God” is not from God, but from those who disbelieved before (9:30))(See the link below, “Is Jesus God and/or the son of God?”)(Allah knows best)

10:37 And it was not that this Qur’an could be produced by other than Allah, but (it is) a confirmation of that which was before it and a detailed explanation of the Book, about which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds.

(Another point is that there are mathematical miracles in the Qur’an. The mathematically exact results indicate that the orderliness of the text is intentional (See the link below “The Qur’an and Mathematics”). On the other hand, the current Bible has not mathematical miracles in order to prove it correct. Some non-Muslims wrongly say that the mathematical miracles can be found in the Bible and in “any text” (War and Peace, Moby Dick, etc.), but it is not true, so they are in fact trying to make people think that there is nothing special about mathematics in a Scripture. And they give some examples, which in fact are really ridiculous and cannot be compared to the Qur’an at all, but they want people to think that the mathematical miracles in the Qur’an are similar to it, while it isn’t. The mathematical miracles of the Qur’an are indeed miracles, while in the case of non-Muslims, in books other than the Qur’an, they try to make numbers match: they start anywhere they want and stop anywhere they want; if they can’t find anything interesting on one page, they move on to another page, etc., and finally, all they get is a ridiculous and unconvincing result)(Allah knows best)

33:50 O Prophet, Indeed, We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their bridal money and those whom you rightfully possess from what Allah has given to you and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet, and the Prophet wishes to marry her - only for you, excluding the believers. We certainly, know what We have made obligatory upon them concerning their wives and those whom they rightfully possess, that there should be no discomfort upon you. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(In the Bible, in Ecclesiasticus / Sirach 36:21, “a woman will accept any husband”; while the reality is that a woman is selective, so she does not accept any husband. The sentence in Ecclesiasticus is another way to oppress, force, and disrespect women in Judaism and Christianity)(See the link below, “Do non-Muslims oppress women?”)(Allah knows best)

22:51 And those who strove against Our Verses, (to) cause failure, those (are the) companions (of) the Hellfire. 22:52 And We (did) not send a Messenger or a Prophet before you but when he recited, Satan threw in his recitation. But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws, then Allah will establish His Verses. And Allah (is) All-Knower, All-Wise.

(Those who think that the Bible is not corrupted, and that everything is correct there, then they are supporting the Bible’s extreme content: cannibalism, killing of innocents (babies, animals, women, etc.), stoning, incest, forcing a woman to marry her rapist and never divorce, self-mutilation, honor killing, etc.)(See the link below, “Which religion is moderate and which is extreme? Who are the radicals? Judaism vs. Christianity vs. Islam vs. atheism”)(Allah knows best)

91:1 By the sun and its brightness, 91:2 And the moon when it follows it, 91:3 And the day when it displays it, 91:4 And the night when it covers it,

(There must be no scientific errors in order to know that a revelation is from God. For example, according to the Qur’an, the sun is immobile in terms of night and day, because it is the day what displays the brightness of the sun (91:3), and it is the night what covers the brightness of the sun (91:4). Then, the earth, which is also involved in the day and night, is the one that is moving (rotating). The Verse also says that the moon “reads / follows” the sun’s brightness, so it implies that the moon has a reflected light. So, the Qur’an is scientifically correct. See the link below, “Is the Qur'an scientifically correct?”)(On the other hand, the Bible says, in Joshua 10:12-13, “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon. So the sun stood still … The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day”. It is an order addressed to the sun and about the sun itself, instead of to the rotation of planet earth, so it is unscientific)(Allah knows best)

12:43 And the king said, "Indeed, I have seen seven fat cows, being eaten by seven lean ones, and seven green ears (of corn), and other dry. O chiefs, explain to me my vision, if you can interpret visions." … 12:46 Joseph, O truthful one, explain to us about the seven fat cows being eaten by seven lean ones, and seven green ears (of corn) and other dry, that I may return to the people so that they may know."

(According to the article “Pharaoh” in wikipedia, from the twelfth dynasty (1991-1778 BC) onward, the word “Pharaoh” appears with reference to the “great house” (buildings of the court or palace) and not the person)(According to the article “New Kingdom of Egypt” in wikipedia, during the reign of Thutmose III (circa 1479-1425 BCE), pharaoh, originally referring to the king’s palace, became a form of address for a person who was king)(Joseph was estimated to live in the 16th century BCE, and Moses in 1393-1273 BCE. So, the articles in wikipedia confirm that the ruler of Egypt was addressed as “King” during the time of Joseph, and “Pharaoh” during the time of Moses, so the Qur’an is correct; on the other hand, the Bible writers used the term “Pharaoh” for the rulers of Egypt during the time of Abraham, but also during the time of Joseph, which, according to the sources, is incorrect)(Allah knows best)

8:22 Indeed, worst of the living creatures near Allah are the deaf (and) the dumb - those who do not use (their) intellect.

(Another point is the creatures mentioned in the Bible, for example, the Leviathan is mentioned five times in the Tanakh, in Job 3:8, Job 40:15-41:26, Psalm 74:14, Psalm 104:26 and Isaiah 27:1)(According to the article “Leviathan” in wikipedia, “both the name and the mythological figure are a direct continuation of the Ugaritic sea monster Lotan, one of the servants of the sea god yammu defeated by Hadad in the Baal cycle”, “sea serpents feature prominently in the mythology of the Ancient Near East”. So, such creature has a pagan origin)(Allah knows best)

48:29 Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating, seeking bounty from Allah and pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their similitude in the Torah. And their similitude in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they become thick and stand upon their stem, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.

(Verse 48:29 mentions something said in the Torah, and something said in the Gospel. It is interpreted that the sentence “their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration” (48:29) does not imply that the mark appears on the forehead, because the Verse says “faces” instead, so it is interpreted that the face of a humble and modest person, who fears God, etc., it is seen on his facial appearance, and it is different from a disbeliever and arrogant person’s face. It is said that Verse 48:29 refers to Deuteronomy 33:2-3, because the ones who bow down are called “holy ones”, but Deuteronomy does not mention the word “face”, so it could also be interpreted that the Qur’an refers to the original Torah, while the current Torah is corrupted)(In regard to the Gospel, it is said that Verse 48:29 might refer to Matthew 13:24-32: “Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. The owner’s servants came to him and said, “Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from? An enemy did this, he replied. The servants asked him, Do you want us to go and pull them up? No, he answered, because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At the time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn. He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches”)(Allah knows best)

23:71 But if the truth (had) followed their desires, surely, the heavens and the earth and whoever (is) therein (would) have been corrupted. Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they (are) turning away from their reminder.

19:53 And We bestowed him from Our Mercy his brother Aaron, a Prophet.

(According to the Jewish Bible, in Exodus 7:1, Aaron was Moses’ prophet, rather than God’s Prophet, in the sense of one who speaks for another (Exodus 4:16). According to Exodus 4:15, Aaron speaks the words that Moses put into his mouth. In addition, Exodus 7:1 and Exodus 4:16 say that Moses is “like God” to Pharaoh, and to Aaron)(This account might be in contradiction with the Qur’an. The Qur’an says that Moses said “and appoint for me a minister from my family. Aaron, my brother. Reinforce through him my strength. And make him share [in] my task” (20:29-32). So, the Qur’an uses the word “minister” (Waw-Zay-Ra), which, in Arabic is one who bears the burden of state (minister or a counsellor or assistant”). In Verses 20:44 and 20:47, both Moses and Aaron are ordered to speak to Pharaoh (“speak / say” are in dual form), rather than Aaron replacing Moses in speaking to Pharaoh. In Verses 20:49-59, only Moses and Pharaoh are talking to each other, but the Verses of the Qur’an are not mutually exclusive, but complement each other, so both had the duty of speaking to Pharaoh. Exodus 7:7 confirms that they (both) spoke to Pharaoh. According to Exodus 7:10, Aaron threw the staff down, but according to the Qur’an, in Verse 20:65-69, Moses threw that which he had in his right hand, so the Qur’an is correcting Exodus. Consider that the current Torah is not a reliable source because it is said that it had multiple authors and that its composition took place over centuries. See the link below, “Is the Bible corrupted?”)(The term “being like God to (someone)”, in Exodus 7:1 and Exodus 4:16, should not be used. Being like god might imply worshiping the Prophet, but that’s a major sin. Verse 3:79 prohibits the Prophets saying “be my worshipers…”. Verse 3:80 says, “he will not order you to take the Angels, and the Prophets as lords”, Verse 6:74 says, “Do you take idols as gods? Indeed, I see you and your people in manifest error”, etc.)(Allah knows best)

4:136 O you who believe(d), believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the Book which He revealed upon His Messenger and the Book which He revealed before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah and His Angels, and His Books, and His Messengers and the Last Day, then surely he (has) lost (the) way, straying far away.

(According to Verse 4:136, you have to believe in all Books revealed by God. Muslims believe in all Books revealed by God, following the “Criterion” (the Qur’an). Consider that you cannot mix the truth with the falsehood (3:71, 6:82). That’s what Jews and Christians wrongly do (3:71))(Allah knows best)

3:100 O you who believe, if you obey a group from those who were given the Book they will turn you back, after your belief, (as) disbelievers.
