Consulting the Jews and Christians in case of doubt?

Consulting the Jews and Christians in case of doubt?

10:90 And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers followed them in rebellion and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims." 10:91 "Now? And verily, you (had) disobeyed before and you were of the corrupters?" 10:92 So today We will save you in your body, that you may be a sign for those who succeed you. And indeed, many among the mankind are surely heedless of Our Signs." 10:93 And verily, We settled the Children of Israel in an honorable settlement, and We provided them with good things, and they did not differ until knowledge came to them. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ. 10:94 So (fa) if you are in doubt of what We have revealed to you, then ask those who (have been) reading the Book before you. Verily, the truth has come to you from your Lord, so do not be among the doubters. 10:95 And do not be of those who deny the Signs of Allah, then you will be among the losers.

(One interpretation of Verse 10:94 is that, because the Verse starts with “so” (“fa” in Arabic), which is sequential, causal and explanatory, then it is a result of the previous sentence/s. And the previous sentences tell about a specific matter, the story of Moses (10:90-93), which Jews and Christians are familiarized with. Another point is that the word “Sign/s is mentioned 3 times in these Verses (10:92 and 10:95), and according to Verses 2:211 and 17:101, only the Prophet (because “ask” is in singular) is required to ask the Children of Israel, about those Signs. The Verses of the Qur’an complement each other. Actually, “ask” in Verse 10:94 is also in singular, so it may be addressed to the Prophet, instead of to all Muslims)(Another point is that the previous Verse also says that the Children of Israel differed (10:93), so even if Muslims were to ask them, and their answer were other than that which the Qur’an says, Verse 10:94 says that “the truth has come to you from your Lord”. So, the Prophet already knows about the truth, so his questions to the Jews and Christians would not be in order to know the truth, but, according to the context, he could see that they differ, because the previous Verse says “they used to differ”. And in the next Verse, he is warned, “do not be of those who deny the Sings of Allah” (10:95). So, despite they witnessed the signs, many of them may deny them)(In Islam, those who deny the Qur’an are disbelievers, so if they differ from the Qur’an, the Qur’an is right, while they would be wrong)(Allah knows best)

5:48 And We have revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming the Book that came before it and as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires when the truth has come to you. For each of you We have made a law and a clear way. And if Allah had willed, He would have made you one community [and] but to test you in what He has given you; so race to good. To Allah you will all return, then He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.

(Verse 5:48 says “for each of you We have made a law and a clear way”; the root of “kullin” (each) is “Kaf-Lam-Lam”, and it means “the parts put together. This is the concrete and it means all or every or each”; so according to the definition, “each of you” refers to the whole (all) mankind, so it is the same law and clear way for everybody. In regard to the sentence, “and if Allah had willed, He would have made you one community”; other communities are disbelievers if they disbelieve in the Verses of the Qur’an (29:47). Verses 11:118 says “surely He could have made mankind one community”, and Verse 11:119 says “the Word of your Lord will be fulfilled, “Surely I will fill Hell with Jinn and men all together”. Ways other than Islam do not lead to Paradise; this is confirmed by Verse 3:85 “and whoever seeks other than Islam as religion – then never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be from the losers”)(“You” in Verse 5:48 is masculine singular, so it is addressed to Muhammad. Those who judge by other than what was revealed to Muhammad is referred as “do not follow their vain desires” (5:48), and the Qur’an is referred as “a guardian over it” (5:48). So, the Qur’an is a Criterion (25:1) over the Bible to know what is true. And “what Allah has revealed” (5:48) is in contrast with “their vain desires” (5:48), so Christians and Jews do not follow the true religion anymore)(In regard to Verse 5:47, the people of the Gospel are let judge “by what Allah has revealed” in the Gospel, not by what Allah has not revealed; the Qur’an is called “Criterion” (25:1), over previous Scriptures, so that you may know what is true)(Allah knows best)

21:7 And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed. So ask (fasalu) the people of the Reminder if you do not know. 21:8 And We did not make them bodies not eating food, nor were they immortals. 21:9 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and We destroyed the transgressors.

(Notice that Verse 21:7 says “fa” (then), so “So ask the people of the Reminder” refers to “men to whom We revealed”, mentioned in the previous sentence. In addition, the next Verses speak about those men too: “We did not make them…”, “We fulfilled for them…”, “We saved them…”. So, it refers to these specific matters)(Jews and Christians can confirm all these specific matters. Even if they don’t, their Scripture (the bible) confirms it (e.g. Prophets used to eat food, they were not immortals, God fulfilled for them the promise, God saved them, and destroyed the transgressors). And the Qur’an confirms it. Muslims/Believers cannot differ from the Qur’an)(Allah knows best)

2:211 Ask the Children of Israel, how many clear Signs We gave them. And whoever changes the Favor of Allah after it (has) come to him - then indeed, Allah is severe in chastising.

(“Ask the Children of Israel” (2:211, 17:101) is in the context of confirming clear Signs that were given to them. Even if they were to deny those Signs, they would be denying their own Scripture and their ancestors who witnessed the Signs, rather than invalidating the Qur’an. And Muslims cannot differ from the Qur’an)(Allah knows best)

17:101 And We had certainly given Moses nine clear Signs, so ask the Children of Israel when he came to them, then Pharaoh said to him, "O Moses, indeed, I think you are bewitched." 17:102 He said, "Verily, you know none has sent down these except the Lord of the heavens and the earth as evidence, and indeed, O Pharaoh, I surely think you are destroyed."
