72 virgins in Paradise?

56:22 And fair ones (wahurun) with large eyes, ... 56:35 Indeed, We have produced them into a creation, 56:36 And We have made them virgins, 56:37 Devoted, well-matched. 56:38 For the companions of the right, 56:39 A company of the former people, 56:40 And a company of the later people.

(Firstly, it has to be considered that Al-Tirmidhi (A.D. 824 – A.D. 892) told about the 72 virgins in his collection of hadith, many years after Muhammad (A.D. 570 – A.D. 632). So, suspiciously, older sources do not mention it. The 72 virgins are called “houri” (the root is “Ha-Waw-Ra”). Words with the same root are mentioned in the Qur’an: in Verse 56:22, the root of “hurun” is “Ha-Waw-Ra” as well, and it means “a thing pure; fair woman/man, etc.”)(It is a controversial subject among non-Muslims, but there is no mention in the Qur’an of the number “72” or other number in regard to a total number of wives in Paradise. On the other hand, in Christianity, according to Matthew 19:29, it implicitly suggests that each man will have 100 wives; it says, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life” (Matthew 19:29))(In regard to Judaism, it supports polygamy (2 Chronicles 11:21, Genesis 4:19, 1 Kings 11:3); for example, 2 Chronicles 11:21 says, “Rehoboam loved Maakah daughter of Absalom more than any of his other wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines”; in regard to Solomon, 1 Kings 11:3 says “he had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines”)(Also in Judaism, it is said that “Talmud Yalkut Shimoni, Bereshit 20” speaks about having sixty servants in the Garden on Eden, but according to a translation in the book titled “Unum” by “William Sutherland”, it says that “when a righteous arrives, they (the servants) remove clothes in which (they) had been buried, and clothe (them) in white robes”, so it does not speak about sexual relations, wives or concubines. Anyway, polygamy is part of Judaism)(Christians who attack Islam by using the matter of the 72 virgins, are hypocrites, because such concept is in Christianity. And they are hypocrites because many non-Muslims have extramarital sexual relations with many men, and women, while in Islam, in order to have relations, you have to marry, and there is a maximum of 4 “wives” (4:3). Wives have rights, while non-Muslim’s lovers have no rights or there are no obligations towards them)(See the link below “Is polygamy okay?”)(Allah knows best)

44:54 Thus. And We will marry them (to) companions with beautiful eyes.

52:20 Reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair ones with large eyes.

(Some non-Muslims wrongly try to link the word “houri” in Arabic to “whore” in English, by saying that both words derive from a Proto-Indo-European root, to defame Islam and Muslims, while Arabic is a Semitic language, not Proto-Indo-European at all. And the meaning of the Arabic root “Ha-Waw-Ra” (pure, fair) opposes the English one (whore); and prostitution is forbidden in Islam, while in Christian/atheist countries it is allowed, so they are the ones who have prostitutes among themselves. Almost all prostitutes are forced into the practice; for example, a study says that in Spain, 80% of prostitutes do it against their will; so Christian/atheist countries unprotect and oppress women by allowing and forcing them into prostitution / sexual slavery)(Allah knows best)

55:56 In them (will be) companions of modest gaze, (whom) neither man nor jinn has touched before them. ... 55:72 Fair ones restrained in the pavilions. 55:73 So which (of the) favors (of) your Lord will you both deny? 55:74 Neither man nor jinn has touched them before them.

4:3 And if you fear that not you will be able to do justice with the orphans, then marry what seems suitable to you from the women - two, or three, or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then one or what your right hands possess. That is more appropriate that you may not oppress.

43:69 Those who believed in Our Verses and were submissive. 43:70 Enter Paradise, you and your spouses delighted."

(Another point is that the believers would enter with their spouses in Paradise (43:70), the righteous ones (40:8). So, some people might enter Paradise without their spouses, if spouses were disbelievers; they would marry women in Paradise (52:20))(Allah knows best)

66:10 Allah presents an example for those who disbelieved - the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed them, so they did not avail both of them from Allah in anything, and it was said, "Enter the Fire with those who enter."

40:8 Our Lord, and admit them to Gardens of Eden which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, and their spouses, and their offspring. Indeed, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

78:33 And splendid companions well-matched,
