Does Islam need a reformation?

35:43 (Due to) arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except its own people. Then do they wait except the way of the former? But you will never find in the way of Allah any change, and you will never find in the way of Allah any alteration.

(The Verses of the Qur’an do not shift with human cultural trends or modern pressures. Claiming that the religion requires ‘reformation’ assumes that the Verses age or degrade over time-a premise that is explicitly reject by the Qur’an itself.) (Allah knows best)

6:115 And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and justice. None can change His words, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

(Any attempt to reform or rewrite the Qur’an is an attempt to override what has been declared unchangeable. Even if people write books and try to alter the message, the Qur’an itself remains preserved.) (Allah knows best)

5:3 Are made unlawful for you the dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which is dedicated to other than Allah, and that which is strangled, and that which is fatally hit, and that which has a fatal fall, and that which is gored by horns, and that which ate the wild animal except what you slaughtered, and that which is sacrificed on stone altars, and that you seek division by divining arrows - that is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of your religion; so do not fear them, but fear Me. This day I have perfected your religion for you and I have completed My Favor upon you, and I have approved for you Islam as a religion. But whoever is forced by hunger with no inclination to sin, then indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(Reformation implies fixing something broken, incomplete, or outdated. This Verse explicitly states that Islam was perfected and completed on that day.) (Allah knows best)

10:15 And when Our Verses are recited to them as clear proofs, those who do not hope for the meeting with Us said, "Bring us a Qur’an other than this or change it." Say, "It is not for me to change it on my own accord. I follow not except what is revealed to me. Indeed, If I were to disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of a Great Day."

(This is a direct answer to demands for reformation. Even the Prophet Muhammad himself stated he had zero authority to alter revelation to satisfy the demands or discomforts of critics. If the Prophet could not change a single Verse to suit certain people’s preferences, no modern reformer holds that authority either.) (Allah knows best)

29:47 And thus We have revealed to you the Book. So those to whom We gave the Book believe in it. And among these are some who believe in it. And none reject Our Verses except the disbelievers.

(Those who demand reformation are, in fact, disbelievers. They are exposing themselves rather than exposing any flaws in the Qu’ran.) (Allah knows best)

2:11 And when it is said to them, "Do not spread corruption on the earth," they say, "We are only reformers." 2:12 Indeed, they are the ones who spread corruption, but they do not realize (it).

(Calling corruption ‘reform’ does not change its true nature.) (Allah knows best)

6:25 And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they see every sign, they will not believe in it. Until, when they come to you and argue with you those who disbelieved say, "This is not but the tales of the former (people)." 6:26 And they forbid (others) from it and they keep away from it. And they do not destroy except themselves, and they do not perceive.

(The disbelievers’ argument for reformation centers on treating the Qur’an as if it contains ancient concepts unsuited for modern times. In reality, disbelievers dismissing revelation as merely ‘tales of the ancients’ is an old argument that has been repeated over and over throughout human history. The Qur’an is timeless, while disbelievers’ man-made rules are constantly changing-they were mistaken from the beginning, and they don’t lead anywhere good.) (Allah knows best)

16:123 Then We revealed to you to follow the religion of Abraham, upright; and he was not of those who associate."

(The Verses of the Qur’an mentioning that Islam is in fact the religion of Abraham show that Islam was not introduced as an innovation, but as the restoration of a religion older than Judaism and Christianity-one that does not permit Jewish and Christian ‘reformations’ or innovations.) 2:135 And they said, "Be Jews or Christians, then you will be guided." Say, "Nay, the religion of Abraham, the upright; and he was not of those who associated partners."

3:95 Say, Allah has told the truth, then follow the religion of Abraham, upright; and he was not of the polytheists.

17:77 (Such is Our) Way (for) whom [verily] We sent before you of Our Messengers. And you will not find any alteration (in) Our way.
