Verses Sunnis and Shiites who fight / hate each other should ponder about

Verses Sunnis and Shiites who fight / hate each other should ponder about

3:64 Say, "O People of the Book, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we worship none except Allah, nor we associate any partners with Him and that we will not take others as lords besides Allah." Then if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims."

(There is freedom of religion in Islam. If people turn away, the Verse does not tell about fighting, so Sunnis and Shias should not fight each other)(Allah knows best)

2:109 Many of the People of the Book wish they could turn you back to disbelief after your faith, (out of) jealousy from themselves, after the truth became clear to them. So forgive and overlook until Allah brings His Command. Indeed, Allah is All-Powerful over everything.

(In Verse 2:109, People of the Book want Muslims to turn back to disbelief, but the Verse says “forgive and overlook”, instead of fighting each other)(Fighting is in self-defense and against oppression. If the other party do not fight you or oppress you, then only God would punish them, if they are disbelievers)(Allah knows best)

49:9 And if two parties among the believers fight, then make peace between both of them. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the command of Allah. Then if it returns, then make peace between them with justice, and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. 49:10 The believers are only brothers, so make peace between your brothers, and fear Allah so that you may receive mercy. … 49:14 The Bedouins say, "We believe." Say, "You have not believed; but say, "We have submitted," and faith has not yet entered your hearts. But if you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not deprive anything from your deeds. Indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(Verse 49:9 says “believers”, not “Muslims”, that is because “Muslims” are never criminals (68:35-36) because they obey God, and what God commands is good. On the other hand, there are ranks among the “believers” (4:95). Those who oppress, they are not obeying, because God forbids oppression (16:90), so the Verse says “fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the command of Allah” (49:9), but, in addition, the next Verse says, “the believers are only brothers, so make peace between your brothers” (49:10). If they were to obey, then they would be Muslims, because "Muslim" is an Arabic word meaning "one who submits (to God)")(See the link below “Is there any difference between “Muslim” and “Believer”?”)(Allah knows best)

2:190 And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like the transgressors.

(Self-defense)(Allah knows best)

4:90 Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty or those who come to you with hearts restraining them from fighting you or fighting their people. And if Allah had willed, surely He would have given them power over you, and they would surely have fought you. So if they withdraw from you and do not fight against you and offer you peace, then Allah has not made for you a way against them.

60:8 Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you in the religion and do not drive you out of your homes, that you deal kindly and justly with them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.

2:256 There is no compulsion in the religion. Surely the right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in false deities and believes in Allah has grasped the firm handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

50:45 We know best what they say, and you are not the one to compel them. But remind with the Qur’an whoever fears My threat.

49:13 O mankind, indeed, We created you from a male and a female and We made you nations and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you near Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware.

3:134 Those who spend in ease and hardship and those who restrain the anger and those who pardon people - and Allah loves the good-doers.

17:53 And say to My slaves to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan sows discord between them. Indeed, Satan is a clear enemy to man.

(It is not just a matter of Sunnis vs. Shiites, but there are Sunnis having disagreements among themselves, and also Shias. For example, historically, Sunnis killed those who did not believe that the Qur’an was uncreated. There are also differences in prayer among Sunnis. See the articles below: “Is the Qur'an created or uncreated?”)(Another example is that a large minority of Sunnis recite other than the standard Qur’an / Hafs recitation, while most Sunnis and all Shiites recite the standard Qur’an / Half recitation. But in this case, Sunnis show tolerance among themselves, so they should do likewise towards Shiites, and vice versa)(See the articles below: “Does the Qur’an support the warsh recitation? (hafs vs. warsh)”)(Allah knows best)

20:74 Indeed, he who comes to his Lord as a criminal then indeed, for him is Hell. He will neither die in it and nor live.

4:94 O you who believe, when you go forth in the way of Allah, then investigate, and do not say to the one who offers you peace, "You are not a believer," seeking the transitory gains of the worldly life; for with Allah are abundant booties. You were like that before, then Allah conferred favor upon you; so investigate. Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

9:107 And those who take a mosque (for) harm and disbelief and division among the believers, and as a station for whoever warred against Allah and His Messenger before. And they will surely swear, "we wish only the good." And Allah bears witness that indeed they are liars.

6:159 Indeed, those who divide their religion and become sects, you are not with them in anything. Their affair is only with Allah, then He will inform them of what they used to do.

22:78 And strive for Allah with the striving which is due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you any difficulty in the religion. The religion of your father Abraham. He named you Muslims before, and in this, that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over mankind. So establish prayer and give zakah (charity) and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protector - so an Excellent Protector and an Excellent Helper.

(Whether you follow the Sunnah of the Sunnis or the Sunnah of the Shiites, the name of those who submit is “Muslim”. Another name or addition to the name (e.g. Sunni Muslim, Shia Muslim) would imply division, and an innovation which is not supported in the Qur’an)(Allah knows best)

10:72 But if you turn away, then I have not asked you for any reward. My reward is not but on Allah, and I have been commanded to be of the Muslims."

4:93 And whoever kills a believer intentionally, then his recompense is Hell, abiding in it forever; and Allah's wrath will fall on him and He (will) curse him and He has prepared for him a great punishment.

(Verse 4:93 is very explicit, “whoever kills a believer intentionally, then his recompense is Hell”)(Those who fear the punishment would not kill a believer)(Allah knows best)

4:29 O you who believe, do not eat one another’s wealth unjustly; instead do business with mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves. Indeed, Allah is Most Merciful to you. 4:30 And whoever does that in aggression and injustice, then soon We will cast him into a Fire. And that is easy for Allah.

3:105 And do not be like those who became divided and differed after the clear proofs came to them. And they will have a great punishment.

3:43 "O Mary, be obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow down with those who bow down."

(Sunnis and Shiites prostrate and bow down. Muslims are commanded to prostrate and bow down with those who bow down, regardless of the small differences in prayer)(There are also small differences in prayer among Sunnis, but in that case they show tolerance among themselves. So they should do likewise towards Shiites, and vice versa)(Allah knows best)

9:71 And the believing men and the believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and they establish prayer and give zakah, and they obey Allah and His Messenger. Those, Allah will have mercy on them. Indeed, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

(Enjoining what is right and forbid what is wrong (103:3, 3:114, 9:71) does not imply that there is no freedom of religion, but, for example, it is about instructing your children, or good manners, etc. Non-Muslims do likewise according to their ideas)(On the other hand, oppression is forbidden; and you do not have to obey if it implies sinning (29:8))(Allah knows best)

3:159 So because of Mercy from Allah you dealt gently with them. And if you had been rude (and) harsh at heart, surely they would have dispersed from around you. Then pardon them and ask forgiveness for them, and consult them in the matter. Then when you have decided, then put trust in Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who put trust.

(Muslims should deal gently with each other)(Allah knows best)

10:41 And if they deny you then say, "For me are my deeds, and for you are your deeds. You are disassociated from what I do, and I am disassociated from what you do."

(If someone denies you or disagree with you, the Verse does not tell about fighting)(Allah knows best)

9:11 But if they repent, and establish prayer and give zakah, then (they are) your brothers in religion. And We explain the Verses in detail for a people (who) know.

(It is simple: if someone repents, establishes prayer and gives charity, then he is your brother in religion)(Allah knows best)

42:13 He has ordained for you of the religion what He enjoined upon Noah, and that which We have revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not to be divided therein. Difficult for the polytheists is that to which you call them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides to Himself whoever turns.

41:33 And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteous deeds and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims/those who submit?"

23:52 And indeed this, your religion, is one religion. And I Am your Lord, so fear Me. 23:53 But they cut off their affair between them into sects, each faction rejoices in what they have.

4:59 O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those having authority among you. Then if you disagree in anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is best and more suitable (for) determination.

(According to Verse 4:59, you could disagree with those having authority among you, but you cannot disagree with Allah and the Messenger (4:59))(In regard to following the hadith in order to obey the Messenger, see the link below, “The Qur’an and Sunnah. Verses used by people in favor and against the hadith. Does the Qur’an support following the hadith (a saying attributed to Prophet Muhammad)?”)(Allah knows best)

3:103 And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together, and do not be divided. And remember the Favor of Allah on you when you were enemies, then He made friendship between your hearts then by His Favor you became brothers. And you were on the brink of the pit of the Fire, then He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes clear for you His Verses so that you may be guided.

2:224 And do not make Allah an excuse in your oaths that you do good, and be righteous and make peace between people. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

3:139 And do not weaken and do not grieve and you will be superior, if you are believers.

(If Muslims divide, then it might benefit the enemies of Islam. Some people spread falsehood, generalize and defame other groups or sects, so that, for example, Arabs might hate Persians; and Persians might hate Arabs; while, for example, whether some Persians like it or not, Muhammad is Arab, and the Qur’an is (from God) in Arabic language. And whether some Arabs like it or not, the compilers of the main hadiths (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nasa’i and Ibn Majah) are all Persian people; so, the six canonical books of hadith for the Sunnis, also called “the authentic six”, come from Persia)(Christians, atheists, Jews, etc., conquered “Muslim” territories because of the lack of union (e.g. Al-Andalus (Spain and Portugal), Palestine, parts of Russia and China, etc.)(Allah knows best)

20:88 Then he brought forth for them a calf's body which had a lowing sound, and they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot." ... 20:91 They said, "Never we will cease being devoted to it until Moses returns to us."

(Another point is that you cannot use the absence of a Messenger as an excuse to sin. It is said that the coming of someone would unite Muslims, while God commands in the Qur’an not to be divided. So, you have to obey and unite together now/today/immediately, whether someone is coming or not, lest you become a disbeliever/non-Muslim. Verse 42:13 says, “to establish the religion and not to be divided therein”)(Allah knows best)

16:125 Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and discuss with them in that which is best. Indeed, your Lord, He is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, And He is most knowing of the guided ones.

6:162 Say, "Indeed, my prayer, and my rites of sacrifice, and my living, and my dying (are) for Allah, Lord (of) the worlds.

(Loving/following/devoting your life to a sect or a country or a flag might imply idolatry (shirk), and division, which is forbidden. Some people fight for their country, sect, flag, which are man-made, while Verse 6:162 says that your living and dying are for Allah, and dividing the religion and becoming sects is forbidden (6:159))(A country’s laws and policies are man-made. Non-Muslims restrict people, but, Muslims cannot do that. According to Verse 22:25, in Al-Masjid Al-Haraam, equal are the resident therein and the visitor, lest authorities hinder people from that place, and lest they fall in clear disobedience. And it must be a safe place for every visitor, lest authorities indirectly prevent people from going there)(Allah knows best)

28:55 And when they hear vain talk, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds and for you are your deeds. Peace be on you; we do not seek the ignorant."

42:15 So to that then invite, and stand firm as you are commanded and do not follow their desires, but say, "I believe in what Allah has sent down of the Book, and I am commanded to do justice between you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no argument between us and between you. Allah will assemble us, and to Him is the final return."

22:67 For every nation We have made rites which they perform. So do not let them dispute with you in the matter, but invite to your Lord. Indeed, you surely are on straight guidance. 22:68 And if they argue with you, then say, "Allah is most knowing of what you do. 22:69 Allah will judge between you on the Day of Resurrection, concerning that over which you used to differ."

16:90 Indeed, Allah commands justice and good, and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality and bad and oppression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed.

49:6 O you who believe, if a wicked person comes to you with information, investigate, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then you become regretful over what you have done.

68:10 And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer, 68:11 Defamer, going about with malicious gossip, 68:12 A preventer of good, transgressor, sinful,

46:9 Say, "I am not a new (one) among the Messengers and nor do I know what will be done with me and with you. I follow that which is revealed to me, and I am not but a clear warner."

6:50 Say, "I do not say to you that I have with me the treasures of Allah, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an Angel. I do not follow except what is revealed to me." Say, "Can the blind and the seeing one be equal?" Then will you not give thought?

17:84 Say, "Each works according to his manner, but your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way."

42:10 And in whatever you differ, then its ruling is to Allah. That is Allah, my Lord, in Him I put my trust, and to Him I turn.

75:18 And when We have recited it, then follow its recitation. 75:19 Then indeed, upon Us is its explanation.
