Does a Muslim have only one mother?
58:2 Those among you who pronounce zihar to their wives, they are not their mothers. None are their mothers except those who gave them birth. And indeed, they surely say an evil word and a lie (wazuran). But indeed, Allah is surely, Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving.
(It is forbidden to make unlawful good things which God has made lawful (5:87); so, they cannot say that their wives are like their mothers in order to make them unlawful)(Allah knows best)
4:19 O you who believe, it is not lawful for you to inherit women by force. And do not constraint them in order to take part of what you have given them unless they commit a clear immorality. And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah has placed much good in it. ... 4:23 Forbidden to you (‘alaykum) are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your father's sisters, and your mother's sisters, and daughters of brothers, and daughters of sisters, and the mothers who nursed you, and your sisters from the nursing, and mothers of your wives, and your step daughters who are under your guardianship of your women you had relations with, but if you had not relations with them, then there is no sin on you. And wives of your sons who are from your loins, and that you gather together two sisters, except what has passed before. Indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
(“To you” (‘alaykum) is plural in Arabic. Plural in Arabic refers to three or more persons. The Verse says that their mothers are forbidden for marriage. The Verse is not addressed to one person, so each person’s own mother is the forbidden one. The context begins in Verse 4:19 “O you who believe” (plural); this confirms that the Verse is addressed to more than one person)(Allah knows best)
33:6 The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. And possessors of relationships, some of them are closer to another in the Decree of Allah than the believers and the emigrants, except that you do kindness to your friends. That is written in the Book.
(The difference between Verse 58:2 and 33:6 is that, while their own wives are not unlawful for them, the wives of the Prophet are unlawful to them for marriage. Verse 33:53 says “nor that you should ever marry his wives after him”. So, according to Verse 58:2, they cannot say that their own wives are their mothers in order to make them unlawful, but in Verse 33:6 the wives of the Prophet are their mothers, because they are unlawful to them for marriage, just as their mothers are unlawful)(In other words, in Verse 58:2, some people is making unlawful something lawful, while in Verse 33:6, the wives of the Prophet are unlawful, so calling them “their mothers” is actually confirming that they are unlawful, so there is no contradiction)(The point is that calling “my mother” or “not my mother” is not wrong in itself, but making unlawful something lawful is wrong. And making lawful something unlawful is wrong)(Allah knows best)
33:53 O you who believe, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when permission is given to you for a meal, without awaiting its preparation. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, then disperse without seeking to remain for a conversation. Indeed, that was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask them for something, then ask them from behind a screen. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not for you that you trouble the Messenger of Allah nor that you should ever marry his wives after him. Indeed, that is an enormity near Allah.
5:87 O you who believe, do not make unlawful good things, which Allah has made lawful for you, and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not love the transgressors.
66:1 O Prophet, why do you prohibit what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
22:30 That, and whoever honors the sacred rites of Allah, then it is best for him near his Lord. And are made lawful to you the cattle except what is recited to you. So avoid the abomination of idols and avoid the false (l-zuri) word.
(The word “zur” is mentioned in Verse 58:2 and 22:30. So, Verse 22:30 confirms that “an evil word and a lie” in Verse 58:2 is related to making something lawful/unlawful, so the word “mother” can be used for the wives of the Prophet, but “mother” can not be used for their own wives because it would wrongly imply making them unlawful)(Allah knows best)
16:116 And do not say about what your tongues assert, a lie, "This is lawful and this is forbidden," so that you invent a lie about Allah. Indeed, those who invent a lie about Allah, they will not succeed.
(God says what is lawful and what is forbidden. Those who say that their wives are their mothers in order to make them unlawful, invent a lie, on the other hand, they can say that the wives of the Prophet are their mothers, because God says that “his wives are their mothers” (33:6), so it is not a lie about what God says)(Allah knows best)
