Strength of Believers

8:65 O Prophet, urge the believers to fight. If there are twenty among you steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are one hundred among you, they will overcome one thousand of those who disbelieve, because they are a people who do not understand.

(20 would overcome 200, and 100 would overcome 1,000, so this is a ratio of 1/10)(Allah knows best)

8:66 Now Allah has lightened for you, and He knows that there is weakness in you. So if there are among you one hundred steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand with Allah's permission. And Allah is with the steadfast.

(100 would overcome 200, and 1,000 would overcome 2,000, so now the ratio is 1/2)(The reason is explained in the Verse, they would overcome with less strength than before because “now Allah has lightened for you, and He knows that there is weakness in you”, so “now” they are weaker than before)(The Qur’an does not say that these numbers are unchangeable, so there is no mistake or contradiction, and even explains the reason of that change)(Allah knows best)
