Who does Allah send as Prophets / Messengers?

Who does Allah send as Prophets / Messengers?

12:109 And We did not send before you but men to whom We revealed from (among) the people of the townships. So have they not traveled in the earth and seen how was the end of those who were before them? And surely the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah. Then will you not use reason? 12:110 Until when the Messengers gave up hope, and thought that certainly they were denied, then came to them Our help, and whoever We willed was saved. And Our punishment cannot be repelled from the people (who are) criminals.

(The Angels are not sent to an entire people of a town, but only a human Messenger from among themselves is sent to them (12:109). So Verses 12:109 and 22:75 do not contradict each other. Verse 12:109 does not say that there are only human Messengers, but human Messengers are sent to humans (16:113). On the other hand, the Angel Messengers are sent to a particular person, in human form (19:17, 6:9))(Verse 16:2 confirms that the Angel Messengers are sent down to the human Messenger, and a human Messenger is sent down to his people, so that he may warn the people)(In addition, Verse 12:110 says, “the Messengers … they were denied … whoever We willed was saved … Our punishment cannot be repelled from the people (who are) criminals”. So, the context confirms that it only refers to human messengers sent to the people, while Angel messengers are not directly sent to the masses)(Allah knows best)

22:75 Allah chooses Messengers from the Angels, and from mankind. Indeed, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer.

(There are human Messengers and Angel Messengers. Verses 12:109 and 22:75 are not mutually exclusive, but the Angels are sent down to a particular person, and human Messengers are sent down to their people, or, in the case of Muhammad, he was sent to all mankind (34:28))(Allah knows best)

34:28 And We have not sent you except to all mankind, as a giver of glad tidings and as a warner. But most people do not know.

27:82 And when the word is fulfilled against them, We will bring forth for them a creature (dabbatan) from the earth speaking to them, that people were not certain of Our Signs.

(The root of “dabbatan” (“creature”) is “Dal-Ba-Ba”, and it means “whatsoever moves on earth especially beasts of burden, quadruped, beast, moving creature, creature on earth, etc.”)(According to the Verse “the word is fulfilled against them”, so, on one hand a Messenger is sent to be obeyed and came with clear evidences and with the Scripture, and the matter is not yet concluded, while, on the other hand, when the creature comes, the matter is concluded. Another point is that the Verse does not say that the creature must be obeyed, nor that comes with clear evidences, but the creature mentions previous evidences / Signs. So, it seems that the creature and the Messenger have different functions in different matters. In other words, according to the Qur’an, the Messengers are to be obeyed and they come with clear evidences, but the creature doesn’t, so the creature could not be a Messenger, but if it is a Messenger, then it seems to have a different function, because it comes in a different event or context)(Verse 6:8 confirms that if other than a human was sent down to people, it is because the matter was decided)(Allah knows best)

4:163 Indeed, We have revealed to you as We revealed to Noah and the Prophets after him, and We revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes (wal-asbati), and Jesus, and Job, and Jonah, and Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Scripture.

(According to some non-Muslims, Verse 4:163 contradicts Verse 12:109, but, according to the context (see Verse 12:110), Verse 12:109 refers to “Messengers”, while Verse 4:163 mentions “Prophets”. Even if both were to refer to “Prophets”, be it a particular person or a group of persons, there is no contradiction, because the Verses of the Qur’an are not mutually exclusive. All Prophets are Messengers but not all Messengers are Prophets)(The “tribes” could refer to the twelve tribes of Israel (7:160); it is interpreted that the “entire tribe” were not “Prophets”; because Prophets are specific people; but Prophets came to the tribes. See the article in the link below “Is there any difference between a Messenger and a Prophet?”)(The root of “asbati” (tribes) is “Siin-Ba-Tay”, and it means “to be lank (hair), loose, have branches. To become extended or stretched. A man, one of the fathers of tribes, tree having many branches. asbat – tree having many branches, grandson, tribe; etc.”)(Allah knows best)

99:2 And the earth brings forth its burdens, 99:3 And man says, "What is with it?" 99:4 That Day, it will report its news, 99:5 Because your Lord inspired it. 99:6 That Day, mankind will proceed in scattered groups to be shown their deeds.

(Non-Muslims also mentioned these Verses as contradictory, but these Verses refer to the Day of Resurrection, so it is not a matter of this world, but the Hereafter)(Allah knows best)

16:2 He sends down the Angels with the inspiration of His Command, upon whom He wills of His slaves, that "Warn that there is no god except Me, so fear Me."

(Verse 16:2 confirms that the Angel Messengers are sent down to the human Messenger, and a human Messenger is sent down to his people, so that he may warn the people)(Allah knows best)

40:15 Possessor of the Highest Ranks, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His Command upon whom He wills of His slaves, to warn of the Day of Meeting.

6:8 And they said, "Why has not an Angel been sent down to him?" And if We had sent down an Angel, surely the matter would have been decided; then no respite would have been granted to them. 6:9 And if We had made him an Angel, certainly We would have made him a man, and certainly We would have obscured them with that in which they are obscuring (themselves).

(Verse 6:8 confirms that if other than a human was sent down to people, the matter would have been decided)(Allah knows best)

19:17 Then she took a screen from them. Then We sent to her Our Spirit, then he appeared to her in the likeness of a well-proportioned man.

16:113 And certainly came to them a Messenger from among themselves but they denied him; so the punishment seized them while they were wrongdoers.

14:4 And We did not sent any Messenger except in the language of his people so that he might make clear for them. Then Allah lets go astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
