Does the Qur'an confirm or replace the Bible? / Does God change His Words?

Does the Qur'an confirm or replace the Bible? / Does God change His Words?

10:37 And it was not that this Qur’an could be produced by other than Allah, but (it is) a confirmation of that which was before it and a detailed explanation of the Book, about which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds.

(It is interpreted that the Qur’an confirms the Bible (Bible means “books”), which came before (10:37, 5:48), and explains all things of it (10:37, 12:111))(But, “Book” might also be interpreted as the Mother of the Book (56:77-79, 13:39), which is interpreted as the common source of all Scriptures)(Allah knows best)

12:111 Verily, in their stories is a lesson for men of understanding. It is not an invented narration, but a confirmation of that which was before it and a detailed explanation of all things, and a guidance and mercy for a people who believe.

(Verses 10:37 and 5:48 complement each other, because both speak about confirming the Book, which came before the Qur’an. In that regard, Verse 10:37 says “a detailed explanation of the Book”; and Verse 5:48 says that they used to differ; so these two Verses implicitly support the interpretation that “explained in detail” refers to “that in which they differed”, instead of explaining “everything” in general. So, it is not about the Qur’an opposing the Bible, but Christians differed from each other, and Jews differed from each other (e.g., some people believed in the crucifixion, some others didn’t; some Jews believed in Jesus, some others didn’t, etc.)(Allah knows best)

27:76 Indeed, this Qur’an relates to the Children of Israel most of that (concerning which) they differ in it.

3:3 He revealed to you the Book in truth which confirms that which was before it and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel. 3:4 Before (this), as guidance for mankind. And (He) revealed the Criterion. Verily, those who disbelieved in the Verses of Allah, for them is a severe punishment. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Able of retribution.

(The Qur’an is a Criterion (3:3) to know what is true, so the Qur’an does not confirm that which God did not reveal (e.g. the Qur’an does not confirm the Jewish and Christian man-made concepts), but the Qur’an confirms the original Torah and Gospel or that which is correct in the current Torah and Gospel (e.g. It confirms that which God revealed in the Torah and Gospel, not that which God did not reveal which is according to people (John, Matthew, etc.), nor that which is according to the current Torah’s multiple authors, other than God))(There are evidences that the current Bible is corrupted, while the Qur’an is preserved. See the link below “Is the Bible corrupted?”)(Allah knows best)

3:50 And confirming that which was before me of (mina) the Torah, and so that I make lawful for you some of that which was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. So fear Allah and obey me. … 3:52 Then when Jesus perceived disbelief from them, he said, "Who (will be) my helpers (of) Allah." The disciples said "We (will be the) helpers (of) Allah, we believe in Allah and bear witness that we are Muslims.

(Notice that Verse 3:50 says “of the Torah”, which implies that the Qur’an is not confirming the entire Torah)(Another point is that “confirming of the Torah and the Gospel” does not mean, for example, that you have to follow that which the Jews were burdened with, for their wrongdoing (e.g. the Sabbath), but the Qur’an confirms that they were burdened; and the burden follows a purpose, it is because of their wrongdoing, so once the Qur’an was revealed, they are relieved of their burden, so they are back to the religion of Abraham (Jews differed from the religion of Abraham (an older religion), so they were burdened with the Sabbath). Some non-Muslims are hypocrites by saying that confirming the Torah and the Gospel implies following other than Islam, while the Qur’an contains the same matters than the Bible (e.g. fasting, giving charity, praying, etc.); and they are hypocrites because if they are relieved in some matter, Jesus did likewise in regard to the Torah: Jesus confirmed the Torah and made lawful some of that which was forbidden (3:50))(E.g. Most Christians think that the Sabbath was abolished, on the other hand, Jesus confirmed the law: according to James 2:14-26, “faith without works is dead”; according to Matthew 5:17, Jesus confirmed the Law, “do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them”; according to Matthew 23:2-3 “the teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.”; according to Acts 15:5 and 15:20, early Christians followed the Law, etc.)(Allah knows best)

7:157 Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel. He commands them to the right and forbids them from the wrong, and he makes lawful for them the pure things and makes unlawful for them the impure things and he relieves them of their burden and the fetters which were upon them. So those who believe in him, and honor him, and help him and follow the light, which has been sent down with him, those are the successful ones."

5:47 And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed in it. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, then those are the defiantly disobedient. 5:48 And We have revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming the Book that came before it and as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires when the truth has come to you. For each of you We have made a law and a clear way. And if Allah had willed, He would have made you one community [and] but to test you in what He has given you; so race to good. To Allah you will all return, then He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ. 5:49 And that you judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires and beware of them lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you. And if they turn away, then know that Allah only intends to afflict them for some of their sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.

(According to Verse 5:47, the people of the Gospel are let judge “by what Allah has revealed” in the Gospel, not by what Allah has not revealed (eg. Paul’s writings which contradict the Scriptures). So, the next Verse says “confirming the Book that came before it and as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires” (5:48). So, according to the context, a Christian can judge by what God has revealed in the Gospel, but they should use the Qur’an, to know what is true in there, because it is interpreted that the Qur’an is a guardian over the Bible (5:48). This interpretation is also supported by Verse 3:4, the Qur’an is called “Criterion”, it implies that it is used to know what is true. So, the Bible is guarded by the Qur’an, not by the Bible itself, because you do not know what is true, unless you read the Qur’an. Verse 5:48 also says, “For each of you We have made a law and a clear way. And if Allah had willed, He would have made you one community [and] but to test you in what He has given you; so race to good”. One interpretation is that “for each of you” is not addressed to different parties or religions, because only “Islam” (aka Submission (to God)) is accepted (3:85); and those who deny the Verses of the Qur’an are disbelievers (84:22, 2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70); so Verse 5:48 is in fact speaking about the same law and way for each person in the world; and you must race upon that path. Notice that the root of “kullin” (each) is “Kaf-Lam-Lam”, and it means “the parts put together. This is the concrete and it means all or every or each”. So according to the definition, “each of you” refers to the whole (all) mankind, so it is the same law and clear way for everybody)(And the sentence, to test you in what He has given you” (5:48), implies that if you judge according to all the Scriptures, and you use the Qur’an as a Criterion, you should end up following other than their vain desires (5:48). These sentences are not confirming their vain desires, or religions other than Islam (aka Submission (to God)), but Jews and Christians do not follow the correct religion anymore. And Verse 5:49 says, “that you judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires and beware of them lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you”. So, according to the context, the Qur’an is the Criterion to know what is true; Verse 5:49 confirms that other than that is “their vain desires”, so these Verses do not confirm Judaism and Christianity. If all ways were ok, the Prophet would have not been warned about it, and their way would have not been called “their vain desires” (5:49). Verse 5:49 also says, “know that Allah only intends to afflict them for some of their sins”, so they are not to be rewarded for a way other than Islam)(God didn’t give Jews and Christians a way or Scripture in order to go to hell, but Jews and Christians did it to themselves (“They distort words from their places, and forgot a part of what they were reminded of” (5:13). They also have the Qur’an, in order to follow it and be saved)(It also has to be considered that Jesus did not write the Gospel but is anonymous and was written in Greek instead of Aramaic (the language of Jesus), and the oldest and current Bible differ, so it is not a reliable source. Another point is that the Gospel “according to John, Luke, Matthew and Mark” suggest that it is not the original Gospel revealed by God (mentioned in the Qur’an), but it is a narration according to people)(See the link below “Is the Bible corrupted?”)(Another point is that a “change” could test people; for example: according to Verse 2:143: the “new” direction of prayer was a test to the people, to make evident who follows the Messenger. It was expected that people would differ (5:48), because people have free will, and it is intended to punish those who follow their desires (5:49). The “new” direction is in fact the “oldest” one (3:96). So, that’s the direction to follow. See the article below “Why was the direction of prayer (Qibla) changed?”)(Allah knows best)

17:81 And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood perished. Indeed, the falsehood is (bound) to perish." 17:82 And We reveal from the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss. … 17:84 Say, "Each works according to his manner, but your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way."

(Verse 17:84 says, "Each works according to his manner, but your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way.". The context is “We reveal from the Qur’an...” (17:82), so the Verse refers to the same laws for everybody. Under this context, people work according to their manner, and some are best guided than others)(It could be objected that the context also mentions “wrongdoers”, so that it could be a comparison between believers and wrongdoers, but according to Verses 46:10, 62:5, etc., God does not guide the wrongdoing people)(Allah knows best)

37:102 Then when he reached working with him, he said, "O my son, indeed, I have seen in a dream that I am sacrificing you, so look what you see." He said, "O my father, do what you are commanded. If Allah wills, you will find me of the patient ones." 37:103 Then when both of them had submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 37:104 And We called out to him, that "O Abraham, 37:105 verily, you have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the good-doers. 37:106 Indeed, this was surely a clear trial.

(An example of being tested: Abraham was commanded to sacrifice his son, then he didn’t have to do it. It was trial)(Allah knows best)

3:64 Say, "O People of the Book, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we worship none except Allah, nor we associate any partners with Him and that we will not take others as lords besides Allah." Then if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims."

(Those who deny the Verses of the Qur’an are disbelievers (84:22, 2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70), so the People of the Book are required to be Muslims. "Muslim" is an Arabic word meaning "one who submits (to God)". That’s the religion preached by Jesus and all Messengers. According to Luke 22:42, Jesus said “yet not my will, but yours be done”)(“Christianity was named after Jesus Christ, and Judaism was named after Judah, but the true religion is not named after a person)(According to Acts 11:26, the disciples were called “Christians” first in Antioch, so the word “Christian” was innovated because it is not mentioned in any of the four Gospels. The word “Christian” is not used in the Qur’an; the literal translation of the Arabic word is “Nazarenes” ((followers) of the Nazarene). And “Jew” is derived from the name “Judah”, which is the name of one of Jacob’s twelve sons, but God’s religion is “Islam” (aka Submission “to God”). “Islam” and “Muslim” derive from the same root wordSiin-Lam-Miim”)(Allah knows best)

22:78 And strive for Allah with the striving which is due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you any difficulty in the religion. The religion of your father Abraham. He named you Muslims before, and in this, that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over mankind. So establish prayer and give zakah (charity) and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protector - so an Excellent Protector and an Excellent Helper.

(Muslims follow the (same) religion of Abraham (rites in Islam (2:127-128))(“Islam” (aka “Submission” (to God)) was also at the time of Adam, because Adam also had rules, in order to submit (aka be a Muslim), so Islam is older than Judaism and Christianity)(Allah knows best)

41:43 Nothing is said to you except what was said to the Messengers before you. Indeed, your Lord is Possessor of forgiveness, and Possessor of painful penalty.

3:7 He is the One Who revealed to you the Book, in it are Verses which are absolutely clear - they are the foundation of the Book, and others are allegorical. Then as for those in whose hearts is perversity - [so] they follow what is allegorical of it, seeking discord and seeking its interpretation. And none except Allah knows its interpretation. And those who are firm in knowledge, they say, "We believe in it. All is from our Lord." And not will take heed except men of understanding.

(According to Verse 3:7, people has to follow the clear verses, not the allegorical ones. There are many allegories / parables in the Gospel. Many Christians follow parables or allegories (e.g. Mark 7:15-20 in regard to food), instead of the clear verses in the Bible (e.g. pig meat is forbidden in Deuteronomy 14:8, Leviticus 11:7-8, Isaiah 66:17, Isaiah 65:2-4). Matthew 13:13 and Luke 8:10 confirm that the purpose of the parables is that they may not understand. That’s because Jesus was only sent to the Children of Israel. This is supported by Matthew 15:24, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel”. According to Matthew 13:34, “Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable”. On the other hand, according to Mark 4:34, Jesus explained everything in private to the (Jewish) disciples, and according to John 18:20, Jesus said nothing in secret in synagogues or at the temple (Jewish places), and according to Matthew 13:36, Jesus explain a parable in private to the (Jewish) disciples. So, one interpretation is that the parables were addressed to non-Jews so that they may not understand. So, Jesus was sent to the Children of Israel (61:14, 43:59, 3:47-50, 5:72, 61:6). In regard to the Gospel, revealed by God, in it (was) Guidance and light” (5:46). Jesus came to the Children of Israel with clear evidences (61:6), rather than with confusion)(Allah knows best)

2:183 O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, so that you may become righteous.

(Fasting is a matter that was and is prescribed. That’s an example of something in the Bible confirmed by the Qur’an. But Christians invented that they do not have to fast anymore. They are the ones who oppose the religion in many matters. See the links below “How the Qur’an corrects Christianity?” and “How the Qur’an corrects Judaism?”)(Allah knows best)

9:30 And the Jews said, "Uzair is son of Allah." And the Christians said, "Messiah is son of Allah." That is their saying with their mouths, they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before. (May) Allah destroy them. How deluded are they.

(According to Verse 9:30, the concept “son of God” is not from God, but from those who disbelieved before)(Obviously, the Qur’an does not confirm concepts in the Bible which are explicitly rejected, so the Qur’an confirms (“of” the Bible) that in which both Scriptures agree and both explicitly mention)(Allah knows best)

5:43 But how can they appoint you a judge while they have with them the Torah, wherein is the Command of Allah , then they turn away after that? And those are not believers. 5:44 Indeed, We revealed the Torah wherein was Guidance and light. The Prophets who submitted judged by it for the Jews, as did the Rabbis and the scholars as they were entrusted with the Book of Allah and they were witnesses to it. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not sell My Verses for a little price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, then those are the disbelievers.

(Verse 5:43 is speaking about disbelievers, who are hypocrites because they don’t believe or follow the Command of Allah in the Torah, then how can they appoint Muhammad a judge, while Muhammad is in fact following the Command of Allah?)(The Prophets who judged by the Torah were Muslims (aka “submitted”)(5:44). People have to judge by the Qur’an; it is not in contradiction with “judging by the Torah”, because the Qur’an confirms and explains that which was before it (10:37), and you have to use the Qur’an in order to know that which is true in the Bible, or to not misinterpret it)(Verse 5:44 says, “the Prophets who submitted judged by it”, so those who were “Muslims” judged by it. The so-called Jews (and Christians) are also required to submit (aka “be a Muslim”). The Verse might also be interpreted as an event from the past, because Verse 5:44 says, “We revealed the Torah” and “judged by it”, referring to a matter in the past, before the Qur’an was revealed, but once it was revealed, then those who deny the Verses of the Qur’an are disbelievers (84:22, 2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70), so Jews and Christians are required to follow the Qur’an)(Allah knows best)

5:42 Listeners of falsehood, devourers of the forbidden. So if they come to you, then judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them, then they will never harm you in anything. And if you judge, then judge between them with justice. Indeed, Allah loves those who are just.

(Verse 5:42 (which is previous to Verse 5:43) confirms that the Messenger can judge between them. And Muhammad, the Messenger of God, judged with the Qur’an (4:105, 5:49, 6:114). So, according to this context, Verse 5:43 is not saying that they cannot judge or be judged by the Qur’an)(Allah knows best)

28:43 And verily, We gave Musa/(Moses) the Scripture, after [what] We had destroyed the former generations (as) an enlightenment for [the] mankind and a guidance and mercy that they may remember. 28:44 And you were not on the western side when We decreed to Moses the Commandment, and you were not among the witnesses. 28:45 But We produced generations and prolonged the life for them. And you were not a dweller among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our Verses, but We were the Senders.

(Verse 28:43 says that the Scripture of Moses is “an enlightenment for mankind and a guidance and mercy that they may remember”. But the context seems about previous/specific generations, because Verse 28:43 says the sentence “that “they” may remember”, which is after the event of destroying “the former generations”. In addition, Verse 28:45 says, “We produced generations” and “you were not a dweller among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our Verses”)(Allah knows best)

32:22 And who (is) more unjust than (he) who is reminded of (the) Verses (of) his Lord, then he turns away from them? Indeed, We (will) take retribution from the criminals. 32:23 And certainly We gave Moses the Scripture, so do not be in doubt about receiving it. And We made it a guide for the Children of Israel.

(It is interpreted that Verse 32:22 refers to the Qur’an, so Christians and Jews should not turn away from the Qur’an. On the other hand, according to Verse 32:23, you do not have to be in doubt about receiving the Scripture given to Moses. Believing that the Scripture was “given” to Moses, and that you “received” it, does not change the fact that Muslims have to use the Qur’an as a Criterion)(And the Qur’an explicitly says that you have to “follow” the Qur’an (6:155, 7:2-3, 3:95, 6:106, 6:153), and explicitly rejects following Jews’ and Christians’ religions (2:120))(Allah knows best)

77:4 And those who separate (by the) Criterion,

3:73 And do not believe except those who follow your religion." Say, "Indeed the guidance is the Guidance of Allah – lest someone be given the like of that which was given to you or that they may argue with you near your Lord." Say, "Indeed, the Bounty is in the Hand of Allah. He gives it to whom He wills, and Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing."

6:114 "Then is it other than Allah I should seek as judge, while He is the One Who has revealed to you the Book explained in detail?" And those to whom We gave the Book know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so do not be among the doubters.

(The Prophet judged with the Qur’an)(Allah knows best)

7:157 Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel. He commands them to the right and forbids them from the wrong, and he makes lawful for them the pure things and makes unlawful for them the impure things and he relieves them of their burden and the fetters which were upon them. So those who believe in him, and honor him, and help him and follow the light, which has been sent down with him, those are the successful ones." 7:158 Say, "O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all, to Whom is the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no god except Him, He gives life and causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, who believes in Allah and His Words, and follow him so that you may be guided."

(Verse 7:158 confirms that the unlettered Prophet is a Messenger for mankind, including Jews and Christians; and he relieves people of their burden and fetters. In that sense, the law was more severe for the Jews because of their wrongdoing (4:160). For example, it was more severe in the matter of the Sabbath (16:124), so the Qur’an relieves them. So, the Qur’an replaces the Bible)(Allah knows best)

16:124 The Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed in it. And indeed, your Lord will surely judge between them on the Day of Resurrection in that over which they used to differ.

4:160 Then for the wrongdoing of those who were Jews, We made unlawful for them good things which had been lawful for them, and for their hindering many from the way of Allah.

(The law was more severe for those who did wrong. Verse 7:157 says that Muhammad relieves of their burden and the fetters. So, an older or previous religion (Islam) is restored. It was revealed to Muhammad to follow the religion of Abraham (16:123, 2:135, 22:78, 3:95))(Allah knows best)

6:146 And to those who are Jews We forbade every (animal) with claws, and of the cows and the sheep We forbade to them their fat except what carried their backs or the entrails or what is joined with the bone. That is their recompense for their rebellion. And indeed, We are surely truthful.

61:6 And when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This is obvious magic."

(Verse 61:6 confirms that the Qur’an is also for the Jews, because Jesus was sent to the Children of Israel, and he announced them the coming of Muhammad. See the link below “Is Muhammad mentioned in the Bible?”)(On the other hand, Jesus was not sent to those Christians who are not from Children of Israel. Christians must follow the Qur’an as well, because Muhammad was sent to the whole mankind (7:158, 34:28, 3:96, 21:107, 6:19, 36:70), including Jews and Christians)(Allah knows best)

57:27 Then We sent Our Messengers on their footsteps and We followed with Jesus, son of Mary, and We gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy. But the monasticism they innovated - We did not prescribe it for them - only seeking the pleasure of Allah, but they did not observe it with right observance. So We gave those who believed among them their reward, but most of them are defiantly disobediently.

(Christians innovated monasticism, but they would be rewarded, (as long as they do not transgress the limits (e.g. they do not commit idolatry, etc)). Trinitarians are disbelievers (5:73). It is interpreted that the Verse refers to those who did not know about the Qur’an, because those who deny the Verses of the Qur’an are disbelievers (2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70). The Qur’an does not confirm innovations like monasticism)(Allah knows best)

33:5 Call them by their fathers; it is more just near Allah. But if you do not know their fathers - then they are your brothers in religion and your friends. But there is no blame upon you if you made a mistake therein, but what your hearts intended. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

5:19 O People of the Book, surely there has come to you Our Messenger, he makes clear to you (after) an interval of the Messengers, lest you say, "There came not to us any bringer of good tidings or a warner." But surely there has come to you a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And Allah is on every thing All-Powerful.

(Jews and Christians are required to follow the Qur’an (5:19). Muhammad was sent to the whole mankind (7:158, 34:28, 3:96, 21:107, 6:19, 36:70), including Jews and Christians. And those who deny the verses of the Qur’an are disbelievers (2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70))(Allah knows best)

4:171 O People of the Book, do not commit excess in your religion and do not say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Glory be to Him, that He (should) have a son for Him. To Him whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

(Trinitarians are disbelievers (5:72). The word “trinity” is not even mentioned in the Bible)(Verse 5:69 says that Jews and Christians would have no fear, nor will they grieve. This Verse specifies “those who believed”, so verse 5:69 could refer, for example, to early Christians who were not trinitarians, and the early people who did not read or receive the Qur’an, and those who believed in God, the Last Day and did good deeds and did not transgress the limits (e.g. those who did not worship Jesus))(Allah knows best)

5:13 So for their breaking of their covenant We cursed them and We made their hearts hard. They distort words from their places, and forgot a part of what they were reminded of. And you will not cease to discover treachery from them except a few of them. But forgive them and overlook. Indeed, Allah loves the good-doers. 5:14 And from those who said, Indeed we are Christians," We took their covenant; but they forgot a part of what they were reminded of. So We aroused enmity and hatred between them until the Day of Resurrection. And soon Allah will inform them of what they used to do. 5:15 O People of the Book, surely there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. Surely there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book.

(Both Jews and Christians forgot a part of what they were reminded. For example, Jews do not believe in Hell, but some verses about “hell” remained in their scripture: according to Daniel 12:2, “multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt”; Psalm 145:20, “The Lord preserves all who love him, but all the wicked He will destroy”; Psalm 78:65-66, “then the Lord awoke as from sleep, as a warrior wakes from the stupor of wine. He beat back his enemies; he put them to everlasting shame”)(People cannot follow a religion with man-made adds and deletes. On the other hand, Islam is God’s religion, and it is complete)(In addition, Verse 5:15 says to the Christians and Jews, “surely there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. Surely there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book”. So, the Verse confirms that the Qur’an is also directed to them, and that they concealed and overlooked much of the (previous) Scripture)(Allah knows best)

6:91 And they did not appraise Allah with His true appraisal, when they said, "Allah did not reveal to a human being anything." Say, "Who revealed the Book which Moses brought as light and guidance for the people? You make it into parchments, disclosing and concealing much. And you were taught that which you did not know – neither you nor your forefathers." Say, "Allah." Then leave them to play in their discourse.

2:120 And the Jews and the Christians will never be pleased with you until you follow their religion. Say, "Indeed, the Guidance of Allah is the Guidance." And if you follow their desires after what has come to you of the knowledge, you will have neither any protector from Allah nor any helper.

(According to this Verse, Jews and Christians do not follow the correct religion anymore, but they follow their desires, instead of obeying God)(Allah knows best)

9:31 They have taken their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah, son of Mary, as Lords besides Allah. And they were not commanded except to worship One God. There is no god except Him. Glory be to Him from what they associate.

2:135 And they said, "Be Jews or Christians, then you will be guided." Say, "Nay, the religion of Abraham, the upright; and he was not of those who associated partners."

(Muslims follow the religion of Abraham, so it is not a new religion, and according to other verses, “Abrahamic” religions might differ in what Christians and/or Jews concealed (2:146), and in what they forgot (5:13), and in what they distorted (5:13), and in what they were burdened for their wrongdoing (16:124, 4:160), and in what they innovated (57:27), and in following their own desires (5:48), and in committing excess in their religion (4:171), and in their disbelief (5:72-73), etc.)(In other words, the Qur’an confirms the Bible, including what man subtracted or erased, and excluding what man added to it. Because, the Qur’an confirms (“of” the Bible) that which God revealed in it, not that which God did not reveal)(Another point is that “confirming the Torah and the Gospel” does not mean, for example, that you have to follow that which the Jews were burdened with, but the Qur’an confirms that they were burdened; and actually the burden is because of their wrongdoing, so once the Qur’an was revealed, you follow an older religion (Islam); the Qur’an contains the religion of Abraham)(So, the Jews differed from the religion of Abraham, then they were burdened with the Sabbath; once you become a Muslim (aka submit to God), you follow the religion of Abraham, not that which Jews were burdened with)(See the link below “Do Muslims observe the Sabbath?”)(Allah knows best)

16:123 Then We revealed to you to follow the religion of Abraham, upright; and he was not of those who associate."

(Muslims follow the religion of Abraham, so they leave trade on Friday (62:9). Verses 16:123-124 implicitly say that Friday was also appointed for the Jews, because Verse 16:124 says that the Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed in it. According to the context, “it” refers to “following the religion of Abraham” (16:123), so, they differed in following the religion of Abraham, then they were burdened with the sabbath)(Allah knows best)

3:95 Say, Allah has told the truth, then follow the religion of Abraham, upright; and he was not of the polytheists. 3:96 Indeed, the first House set up for mankind was that at Bakkah, blessed and a guidance for the worlds. 3:97 In it are clear signs, the standing place of Abraham. And whoever enters it - is safe. And to Allah upon the people is a pilgrimage to the House – for whoever is able to it a way. And whoever disbelieves - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds. 3:98 Say, "O People of the Book, why do you disbelieve in the Verses of Allah, while Allah is a Witness over what you do?" 3:99 Say, "O People of the Book, why do you hinder those who believe from the way of Allah, seeking to make it (seem) crooked, while you are witnesses? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

3:85 And whoever seeks other than Islam as religion - then never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be from the losers.

(“Islam” is an Arabic word meaning “submission (to God)”; that’s the religion preached by all Messengers)(Allah knows best)

2:97 Say, "Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - then indeed he brought it down upon your heart by the permission of Allah, confirming what (was) before it and a guidance and glad tidings for the believers."

16:101 And when We substitute a Verse in place of a Verse, and Allah is most knowing of what He sends down they say, "You are only an inventor." Nay, most of them do not know.

(“A Verse in place of a Verse” is done within the same “Scripture”, then the previous verse is not included in the “Scripture” anymore, on the other hand, “confirming what was before” refers to an Scripture confirming “that which God revealed” in previous Scriptures)(Allah knows best)

13:39 Allah eliminates and confirms what He wills, and with Him is the Mother of the Book.

(An interpretation of Verses 13:39 and 18:27 is that, whether something is confirmed or eliminated (e.g. the Qur’an relieves Jews from what they were burdened for their wrongdoing (16:124, 4:160)), but the Mother of the Book is not changed. It was revealed “of the Book” to Muhammad, so the Qur’an contains “of the Book” which is not changed over time. On the other hand, Christianity and Judaism differed from the true religion)(Even the Bible, in Revelation 5:1-7, mentions a scroll sealed at the Throne which no one can open or look inside, except somebody. Similarly, the Qur’an says “Indeed, it is surely a Noble Qur’an, In a Book well-guarded, None touch it except the purified.”(56:77-79))(Allah knows best)

5:3 Are made unlawful for you the dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which is dedicated to other than Allah, and that which is strangled, and that which is fatally hit, and that which has a fatal fall, and that which is gored by horns, and that which ate the wild animal except what you slaughtered, and that which is sacrificed on stone altars, and that you seek division by divining arrows - that is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of your religion; so do not fear them, but fear Me. This day I have perfected your religion for you and I have completed My Favor upon you, and I have approved for you Islam as a religion. But whoever is forced by hunger with no inclination to sin, then indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 5:4 They ask you what is made lawful for them. Say, "Lawful for you are the good things and what you have taught of hunting animals, ones who train animals to hunt, you teach them of what Allah has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah on it, and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is swift in taking account. 5:5 This day good things are made lawful for you; and the food of those who were given the Book is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them. And chaste women from the believers and chaste women from those who were given the Book before you, when you have given them their bridal due, being chaste, not being lewd, nor ones (who are) taking secret lovers. And whoever denies the faith - then surely his deeds are wasted and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.

(An example of the Qur’an confirming the Bible: Each’s food is lawful to each other (5:5) because the Qur’an prohibits in Verse 5:3-5 that meat which is prohibited in the Bible)(The Qur’an refers to “their food”, but Christians do not eat “their food” anymore unless they eat Muslims’ food, because Christians, in that case, do not follow their own religion, that is because the same food is prohibited in the Bible and in the Qur’an)(Verse 5:5 specifies “good things are made lawful for you”, so the dead animals, blood, pig meat, etc., are not good things)(The Bible, in Acts 15:29, says “you are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things”. Other verses in that sense: Acts 15:20, Acts 21:25, Exodus 34:15, Revelation 2:20, Deuteronomy 14:21, Leviticus 22:8, etc.)(In regard to pig meat, it is forbidden in Deuteronomy 14:8, Leviticus 11:7-8, Isaiah 66:17, Isaiah 65:2-4, etc.)(According to Christians some verses in the Bible declare all foods clean (e.g. Mark 7:15-20), but it is unscientific, and contradicts the Torah, the Gospel Itself and the Qur’an. It is interpreted that Mark 7:15-20 could be an “allegorical” verse, while the clear verses are the ones to be followed (3:7))(Matthew 5:17 says, “do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them”, so Mark 7:15-20 did not allow that food which was forbidden in the Torah)(In the Bible, there is no an explicit mention of non-halal (unlawful) meat to be allowed (e.g. it does not explicitly say that pig meat is allowed), but it is an assumption and a misinterpretation. It also contradicts early Christians’ practice of following the Law (e.g. Acts 15:5, 15:20))(Even if Mark 7:15-20 were to declare all foods clean, it is said that Jesus did not write the Gospel, but the Gospel is anonymous, and was written in Greek, instead of Aramaic (the language of Jesus), and the oldest Bibles and modern ones differ with each other, so it is not a reliable source. The Qur’an confirms that which God revealed in it, not that which God did not reveal, or Christians and Jews’ misinterpretations)(Verse 4:82 says, “If it had been from other than Allah, surely they would have found much contradiction in it”. So, Christians and Jews contradict themselves because of some of their man-made concepts)(Allah knows best)

10:90 And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers followed them in rebellion and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims." ... 10:94 So (fa) if you are in doubt of what We have revealed to you, then (fa) ask those who (have been) reading the Book before you. Verily, the truth has come to you from your Lord, so do not be among the doubters.

(Verses 10:94 refer to the story of Moses, because after relating the story of Moses in Verses 10:90-93, Verse 10:94 begins with the word “fa” (then, so) which indicates order in regard to the previous sentence, rather than starting a new sentence. So, in Verse 10:94, the people of the Book is not requested for conformation of the entire Qur’an, as some non-Muslims wrongly say, but for a specific matter or story which they are familiarized with. That is confirmed by Verse 2:50, which speaks about the same event than in Verse 10:90, “And when We parted the sea for you, then We saved you, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh while you were looking. (2:50)”. So, the sentence “while you were looking” implies that they witnessed it. And that event was recorded in the Book)(Allah knows best)

17:101 And We had certainly given Moses nine clear Signs, so ask the Children of Israel when he came to them, then Pharaoh said to him, "O Moses, indeed, I think you are bewitched."

16:43 And We sent not before you except men, We revealed to them, so ask (the) people (of) the Reminder if you (do) not know. 16:44 With clear proofs and the Books. And We sent down to you the Remembrance, that you may make clear to mankind what has been sent down to them and that they may reflect.

(Verse 16:43 says “ask the people of the Reminder if you do not know”, but it does not validates Judaism and Christianity, on the contrary, Verse 16:44 says, “that you may make clear to mankind what has been sent down to them”. And the context of Verse 16:43 is about asking about this: “We sent not before you except men, We revealed to them” (16:43), “with clear proofs and the Books“ (16:44). So, Christians and Jews can tell and confirm that other Prophets were sent to them before, with proofs and Books)(Allah knows best)

48:23 (The established) way (of) Allah which passed away before. And you will never find any change in (the) way of Allah.

50:29 The word will not be changed with Me, and I Am not unjust to My slaves." 50:30 (On the) Day We will say to Hell, "Are you filled?" And it will say, "Are (there) any more?" 50:31 And the Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far.

(In Verse 50:29, the context of “the word will not be changed with Me” might refer to keeping His word about people going to Hell)(Allah knows best)

51:8 Indeed, you (are) surely in a speech, differing / (in differing speech).

(People themselves are the ones who differ in speech. E.g. the Jews differed from the true religion, so the law was more severe for them, but it is the consequence of their wrongdoing, rather than God changing His words)(Allah knows best)

29:46 And do not argue with the People of the Book except by which is best, except those who do wrong among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and to you. And our God and your God is One, and we submit to Him."

(The sentence “We believe in that which has been revealed to us and to you” refers to that which has been revealed by God. The matter is that, for example, Christians added Paul’s writings to the Gospel, while those writings are not from God, etc. There are contradictions and inconsistencies in the Bible, so you need a Criterion (the Qur’an) to know what is true in there. Verse 4:82 says, “If it had been from other than Allah, surely they would have found much contradiction in it”)(Allah knows best)

19:53 And We bestowed him from Our Mercy his brother Aaron, a Prophet.

(According to the Jewish Bible, in Exodus 7:1, Aaron was Moses’ prophet, rather than God’s Prophet, in the sense of one who speaks for another (Exodus 4:16). So, Aaron speaks the words that Moses put into his mouth (Exodus 4:15). In addition, Exodus 7:1 and Exodus 4:16 say that Moses is “like God” to Pharaoh, and to Aaron)(This account might be in contradiction with the Qur’an. The Qur’an says that Moses said “and appoint for me a minister from my family. Aaron, my brother. Reinforce through him my strength. And make him share [in] my task” (20:29-32). So, the Qur’an uses the word “minister” (Waw-Zay-Ra), which, in Arabic is one who bears the burden of state (minister or a counsellor or assistant”). In Verses 20:44 and 20:47, both Moses and Aaron are ordered to speak to Pharaoh (“speak / say” are in dual form), rather than Aaron replacing Moses in speaking to Pharaoh. In Verses 20:49-59, only Moses and Pharaoh are talking to each other, but the Verses of the Qur’an are not mutually exclusive, but complement each other, so both had the duty of speaking to Pharaoh. Exodus 7:7 confirms that they (both) spoke to Pharaoh. According to Exodus 7:10, Aaron threw the staff down, but according to the Qur’an, in Verse 20:65-69, Moses threw that which he had in his right hand, so the Qur’an is correcting Exodus. Consider that the current Torah is not a reliable source because it is said that it had multiple authors and that its composition took place over centuries. See the link below, “Is the Bible corrupted?”)(The term “being like God to (someone)” in Exodus 7:1 and Exodus 4:16 should not be used. Being like god might imply worshiping the Prophet, that’s a major sin. Verse 3:79 prohibits the Prophets saying “be my worshipers…”. Verse 3:80 says, “he will not order you to take the Angels, and the Prophets as lords”, Verse 6:74 says, “Do you take idols as gods? Indeed, I see you and your people in manifest error”, etc.)(Allah knows best)

4:136 O you who believe(d), believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the Book which He revealed upon His Messenger and the Book which He revealed before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah and His Angels, and His Books, and His Messengers and the Last Day, then surely he (has) lost (the) way, straying far away.

11:17 Then is he who is on a clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him recites it, and before it (was) a/(the) Book (of) Musa/(Moses) (as) a guide and (as) mercy? Those/(they) believe in it. But whoever disbelieves in it among/(from) the sects, then the Fire (will be) his promised (meeting) place. So (do) not be in doubt about it. Indeed, it (is) the truth from your Lord, but most (of) the people (do) not believe.

(The word “it” in Verse 11:17 refers to the Qur’an (11:12-13))(Allah knows best)

3:83 So is (it) other than the religion of Allah they seek? While to Him (have) submitted whatever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they will be returned.

3:100 O you who believe, if you obey a group from those who were given the Book they will turn you back, after your belief, (as) disbelievers.

5:64 And the Jews said, "The Hand of Allah is chained." Their hands are chained, and they have been cursed for what they said. Nay, His Hands are stretched out, He spends how He wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in rebellion and disbelief. And We have cast among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war, Allah extinguished it. And they strive in the earth spreading corruption. And Allah does not love the corrupters.
