Why do Muslims pray in Arabic? Why not in their own language? Requirement to learn in Arabic? What's the universal language?
12:2 Indeed, We have sent it down as a Qur’an in Arabic so that you may understand.
19:97 So We have only made it easy (yassarnahu) in your tongue that you may give glad tidings with it to the righteous and warn hostile people therewith.
(The Arabic Qur’an is easy to learn; so it is the most memorized book in the world, and even by people who do not speak Arabic)(The root of “yassar” (easy) is “Ya-Siin-Ra”, and it means “become gentle / tractable / manageable / easy, make easy / smooth, etc”; so the Qur’an is to be treated / managed / used in Arabic, not in a foreign language)(Allah knows best)
54:17 And certainly We have made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is (there) any who will receive admonition?
(The Qur’an is easy in Arabic (19:97), and easy for remembrance (54:17), and its original language is in Arabic (12:2); in regard to prayer, Verse 62:9 says, “hasten to the remembrance of Allah”; the Qur’an in Arabic is easy for remembrance (19:97, 54:17); and prayer is also called remembrance (62:9), so it suggests that its recitation in prayer is in Arabic. Another point is that if it were recited in another language, it would be called “interpretation”, because a Verse in Arabic might have different translations, so a translation in another language is not the Qur’an)(Allah knows best)
62:9 O you who believe, when the call is made for the prayer on the day of Friday, then hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave the business. That is better for you, if you know.
29:45 Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book, and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prevents from immorality and evil deeds, and surely the remembrance of Allah is greatest. And Allah knows what you do.
39:23 Allah has revealed the best statement - a Book, resembling each other oft-repeated. The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver from it, then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah, He guides with it whom He wills. And whoever Allah lets go astray, then there is no guide for him.
(The Arabic in the Qur’an is easy to learn, people only have to memorize a total of 3,680 words, of which, only the 50 most frequent words occur 29,797 times out of a total of 77,439 words in the Qur’an, that’s a 38.47% of the Qur’an; the 100 most frequent words are a 45.44%; the 150 most frequent words are a 49.68%, and only 200 words are a 52.53% of the Qur’an; …; the 2,000 most frequent words of the Qur’an are a 97.73% of the total words of the Qur’an (aka 2,000 words occur 75,683 times out of 77,439 words in the Qur’an))(Source: I calculated it myself, I checked the frequency of the words in this site: http://corpus.quran.com/lemmas.jsp?page=1 or https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DfZHzpQL1522I0fM1FXIiu2GsKh1yJ3b/view?usp=sharing )(You can also check other sources in this subject: for example, the book “85% of Qur’anic words” by Dr. Abdulazeez Abdulraheem)(Allah knows best)
20:113 And thus We have sent it down, the Qur’an in Arabic and have explained the warnings in it that they may fear or that it may cause them remembrance.
41:44 And if We had made a Qur’an in a foreign (language), they would have said, "Why are its Verses not explained in detail? Is it a foreign (language) and an Arab (messenger)?" Say, "It is for those who believe, a guidance and a healing." And those who do not believe, there is deafness in their ears, and it is for them blindness. Those are being called from a far place."
(Those who complain because the language of the Qur’an is in Arabic, according to the Verse, if the Qur’an had been revealed in any other language, they would have not believed anyhow, so they use it as an excuse. So the answer to them is “it is for those who believe, a guidance and a healing”, regardless of someone’s native language)(Allah knows best)
43:2 By the clear Book, 43:3 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’an so that you may understand.
26:194 Upon your heart, that you may be of the warners. 26:195 In clear Arabic language. 26:196 And indeed, it is in the Scriptures of the former people. 26:197 Is it not a sign to them that the scholars of the Children of Israel know it? 26:198 And if We had revealed it to anyone of the foreigners. 26:199 And he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 26:200 Thus We have inserted it into the hearts of the criminals.
(Those who complain because the Messenger is Arab, according to the Verse, if the Messenger had been non-Arab and was to recite it to them (the criminals), they would have not believed anyhow, so they use it as an excuse)(Allah knows best)
39:27 And indeed, We have set forth for people in this Qur’an of every example, so that they may take heed. 39:28 A Qur’an in Arabic, without any crookedness, so that they may become righteous.
(Verse 39:28 could imply that other languages might corrupt it. “A Qur’an in Arabic, without any crookedness” (39:28). A mistranslation of the Qur’an is not the Qur’an. Actually, some non-Muslims mistranslated the Qur’an, but the original Qur’an, which is in Arabic language, has been preserved. On the other hand, the Bible has been corrupted and is not in its original language anymore)(Other Muslims cannot force you to learn the Qur’an in Arabic, but reciting the exact words revealed by God, being it easy in Arabic, and avoiding to be fooled by people’s translations, is a strong incentive to learn the Qur’an in Arabic)(See the links below “Exposing those who misquote and mistranslate verses of the Qur’an / Some frequently misquoted verses of the Qur’an”, “Has the Qur'an been preserved?” and “Is the Bible corrupted?”)(Allah knows best)
17:89 And verily We have explained for mankind in this Qur’an every example, but most of the mankind refused except disbelief.
34:28 And We have not sent you except to all mankind, as a giver of glad tidings and as a warner. But most people do not know.
(The Qur’an was sent to all mankind. On the other hand, Jesus was only sent to the children of Israel; Noah was sent to his people; Hud was sent to “’Ad”; Saleh was sent to Thamud; Shu’ayb was sent to Midian, etc. So, Muhammad was the only one who was sent to the whole mankind, then, the Qur’an in Arabic is also for the whole mankind)(Allah knows best)
7:158 Say, "O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all, to Whom is the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no god except Him, He gives life and causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, who believes in Allah and His Words, and follow him so that you may be guided."
21:107 And We have not sent you, except as a mercy for the worlds.
36:70 To warn him who is alive, and the Word may be proved true against the disbelievers.
16:103 And We certainly know that they say, "It is only a human being who teaches him." The tongue of the one they refer to is foreign while this is in a clear Arabic language. 16:104 Indeed, those who do not believe in the Verses of Allah, Allah will not guide them, and for them is a painful punishment. 16:105 They only invent falsehood who do not believe in the Verses of Allah, and they are the liars.
(According to Verses 16:103-105, something similar was said at the time of the Prophet, about the origin of the Qur’an, but Verse 16:105 is explicit “they only invent falsehood who do not believe in the Verses of Allah, and they are the liars”)(“Arabic” is the original language of the Qur’an, and it is even mentioned by name)(Allah knows best)
41:3 A Book whose Verses are detailed, a Qur’an in Arabic, for a people who know,
15:9 Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We are surely its Guardians.
(The Qur’an has been preserved in its original Arabic language)(Allah knows best)
46:12 And before it (was the) Scripture of Moses (as) a guide and a mercy. And this is a Book confirming, in the Arabic language to warn those who do wrong and glad tidings for the good-doers.
