Tribe trapped behind a wall?
18:94 They said, "O Dhul-qarnain, indeed, Gog and Magog are corrupters in the land. So may we make for you an expenditure that you make a barrier between us and them?" 18:95 He said, "That in which my Lord has established me is better, but assist me with strength, I will make between you and them a barrier. 18:96 Bring me sheets of iron" until, when he had leveled between the two cliffs, he said, "Blow," until when he made it fire, he said, "Bring me molten copper to pour over it." 18:97 So they were not able to scale it nor were they able to penetrate it. 18:98 He said, "This is a mercy from my Lord. Then when the Promise of my Lord came/comes, He made it (ja’alahu) level. And (wa) the Promise of my Lord is true." 18:99 And (wa) on that Day We (will) leave some of them surging over others, and the trumpet (will be) blown, then We (will) gather them all together. 18:100 And on that Day We (will) present Hell to the disbelievers, on display
(“And the Promise” (18:98) and “And on that Day” (18:99) are not necessarily chronological in regard to the previous sentences, because “and” (wa) does not indicate chronology, so the Verse does not explicitly say that a physical barrier would be preserved until the Day of Resurrection, but says that it was made level. “Made” (ja’ala) indicates that the action is completed. And the Verse does not explicitly say that a tribe is trapped there, but Verse 18:95 says that the barrier was made “between you and them” (so in order to separate two parties, not for trapping a party), and “they were not able to scale it nor were they able to penetrate it”, so no one is trapped, because the barrier was made to separate two groups of people)(Allah knows best)
21:95 And (there is) prohibition upon a city which We have destroyed, that they will not return. 21:96 Until when has been opened (for) Gog and Magog, and they descend from every elevation. 21:97 And the true promise has approached, then behold, the eyes of those who disbelieve are staring, "O woe to us, verily, we had been in heedlessness of this; nay, we were wrongdoers." 21:98 Indeed, you and what you worship besides Allah are the firewood of Hell. You will come to it.
(An interpretation of the Verse is that they do not return to this life, because there is no a second chance to make amends. But they (and everybody) return on the Day of Resurrection. If Gog were an individual, there is no a second chance for him. The Verse does not specify “iron wall” to be opened for them. Verse 39:71 mentions the opening of the gates of hell, and Verse 23:100 mentions a barrier until the Day of Resurrection, for everybody, not just for Gog and Magog, and speaks about the unseen and afterlife, as if the barrier were non-physical, while the iron barrier was physical)(Allah knows best)
39:71 And those who disbelieve will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates will be opened, and its keepers will say to them, "Did there not come to you Messengers from among you reciting to you the Verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes", but the word of punishment has been justified against the disbelievers.
78:18 The Day the trumpet is blown and you will come forth in crowds, 78:19 And the heaven is opened and becomes gateways, 78:20 And the mountains are moved and become a mirage. 78:21 Indeed, Hell is lying in wait,
23:92 Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, exalted is He above what they associate. 23:93 Say, "My Lord, if You should show me what they are promised 23:94 My Lord, then do not place me among the wrongdoing people." 23:95 And indeed, We are surely able to show you what We have promised them. 23:96 Repel evil with what is best. We know best what they attribute. 23:97 And say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the suggestions of the evil ones, 23:98 And I seek refuge in You, My Lord, lest they be present with me." 23:99 Until when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back 23:100 That I may do righteous (deeds) in what I left behind." No, indeed, it is a word that he speaks, and before them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.
(This barrier is for everybody, this Verse does not mention Gog and Magog, and the context is about the unseen and afterlife, as if the barrier were not physical, and until the Day they are resurrected (23:100), while the iron barrier was physical, and in this world)(Allah knows best)
40:11 They will say, "Our Lord, You gave us death twice and You gave us life twice, and we confess our sins. So is there any way to get out?"
(If Gog were an individual, there is no a second chance for him, because death and life are twice for everybody. A person was dead (non-existent), then alive (in this world), then the person dies (in this world), then is resurrected (on the Day of Resurrection))(Allah knows best)
2:28 How can you disbelieve in Allah? While you were dead, then He gave you life; then He will cause you to die, then He will give you life, then to Him you will be returned.
19:98 And how many a generation We destroyed before them? Can you perceive anyone of them or hear a sound from them?
